I can say that Dell's Ultrasharp IPS monitors are A+. I have one and would highly recommend it.

For my gaming monitor I have an ASUS G-Sync... and if you're a gamer and you haven't tried G-Sync, seriously go check it out. It was such an amazing up grade I couldn't believe it. It was like going from a HDD to SSD in terms of actual, real, noticeable gains. So look into that if you have more than 1 monitor. I use the Dell as my photo/design monitor and the ASUS is my primary/gaming monitor. Then my left monitor is just my text/occasional movie monitor, also another Dell though not an UltraSharp.

I really thought about going that route, but as a dual monitor setup, my OCD would get the best of me having two completely different looking monitors, screens, color pallettes, etc.

What to do.. what to do...

PS. Not to mention, I have read serious quality control issues about both Asus and Acer Gsyncs. Light bleed, multiple dead pixles, etc.

Get a korean PLS that overclocks to 120hz and you get the both of both worlds (more or less).

So I'm in the market for a new monitor for mainly gaming at a price max of $250 anyone have any suggestions?

Been using the same monitor for 7 years across 2 PCs now.

You guys using things like Corsair Hydro series closed water loop cooling, what temps do you get idle/load? Ive been trying to ponder the benefit over using one over just using one of the better air cooling units like the Cryorig or Noctua.
i've used a h100 for 4 years? 24/7ish. B4 that i've always upgraded every year to the latest noctua or whatever 12 heatpipe HS was, this thing doesn't care, it's less noisy and installation is SIMPLE, just a simple screw down, no more weird ass jimmy this side and release a corner to shove an oversized heatsink on.

cons?
i guess if you have extremely good hearing, you can maybe hear the pump.

Why did i choose the corsair? at the time it was the only closed loop in town, i wanted WaterCooling, but i didn't want to ever experience the horror stories i've seen.

leaks, evaporation, choosing either 3/8 or 1/4 or the right fittings or spending 20bucks the right chromed 90 degree shit...

i keep my cpu temps at 42, i use speedfan so i never really go lower (cuz the fans will just speed up), i rarely hit load unless i'm crunching a video or i got some programs kicking up, and when it does my fans kick on and i'm pretty sure 55 is my max load.

it's a amd 8320 i have conservatively oc'd at 4300, i have speedstep so it sits at 1600, it's my business PC so i can't have weird ass bluescreens.

I dont even use my 8GB of vram, no point to do 32GB...
4K is the future and considering that benchmarks cripple single card versions of the 980s, they have a lot of work to do. Hell, the new iMac has a 5K screen, and there are already demos of 8K TVs and Monitors floating around the Electronics Shows. Never say never!

I guess - i use a Noctua DH14 and it doesnt seem all that loud at all really - From what ive seen the temps seem lower than those of the closed water loop -Main thing for me i guess is i use Silverstone Raven's and i only have room for the 295x2 to use its cooling. I wish they'd make an even larger Raven that had better options for closed loop water then perhaps id give it a whirl, but in Miami those summer temps arent very fond of closed water.

Also Not sure im keen on spending another 1k on a monitor - the 34um95 was costly, and the 4k version is the 31um97 which is around 1200.

Just recently started looking at 21:9 monitors. I want one but don't want to get some little 1080p 29", lol. Maybe after we move.

Ive had the Dell 29 inch ultrawide and now i own the LG 34UM94, friend of mine has the Samsung variant which is 34inch ultrawide but curved. The only issue i have is the fact that the displayport 1.2 feature seems buggy and sometimes causes the monitor to go nuts. If you disable it, then all is well, but for the price paid id rather have everything up to snuff. Thankfully 3 year warranty will allow me to abuse mainboards until they give me one that doesnt have the issue.

That's damn nice. I have a multi-monitor setup but I don't game across them as I hate the bezels breaking up the picture. That is a damn nice amount of extra screen real-estate without having to worry about looking at breaks/bezels in the picture. I wonder if there are any 1440p ultra-wides under $1000 out there? I just can't quite justify spending over a grand on a monitor(your LG is currently $1333 at Newegg)
