Quantifying the differences between them would probably be difficult in any sort of meaningful way. I mean maybe if you sat down and really lined out the pressure required and activation point (or whatever the technical terms for those are) you'd build a data driven reason mechanical are 'better.' At the end of the day it'll be preference though. If you look at all the different types of keyboards and switches you'll see the options available are really vast. And you can treat your keyboard like any other accessory, like speakers, headphones, monitor, etc... And if you find one that is substantially more comfortable to you, then yeah, maybe your APM will increase. Just saying it will because you switched is over selling though.

Personally I love mine. After using it for a while I got used to not bottoming out which increases my typing speed and decreases discomfort from constantly hitting the plate all day while typing.
Generally, I think people with good muscle memory benefit more from a mechanical keyboard. The travel and break point is very tactile and it's more reliable once you learn it. It's kind of like the difference between a shitty assisted clutch on a sedan vs. a racing clutch with full travel and pedal feel.

If you switch keyboards a lot you probably don't get to the point of developing the memory needed to really take advantage of the precision of a mechanical switch vs. pushing a key through a sheet of heavy bubble-wrap.

Best benefit of a mechanical keyboard is they're louder so people know to leave you alone when you're typing furiously on the forums putting some idiot in their place!

So while I was looking around for mice I spent some time looking at keyboards and had to ponder in amazement that people can justify $100 on a keyboard. What's so magical about sayRazer Blackwidow Chromato justify that over a $10 standard? I feel like such a simple hardware and programming gimmick seems like a $50 investment at best, but some places are selling it for $209.

Am I missing the summon significant other to tongue balls/cunt button?

If you spend a lot of time using a keyboard for input, like writing or developing, the feedback you receive from each individual keystroke is very satisfying, almost like a dopamin release when you make up rhymes, or devise a symmetrical pattern.

As far as actually helping you in any way with response times, it probably has no benefit, in fact if anything it probably creates greater delay in registering response.

I have two, one at work and one at home. I have no regrets with the one I use at work (brown key CM Storm). I had one initial regret with my home keyboard, a DAS, i bought with no key inscriptions. It took more getting use to without an easy point of reference, than I thought it would, although ultimately it helped reduce typos, as my muscle memory became even greater in relation to key position. I did not buy with mind toward games, so I cant really comment toward that, other than, presumably it would still provide the same satisfaction I get with the feedback.

Fyi i typed this from my phone*

How the fuck does anyone type on that monstrosity.
Exactly as I'm doing right now! Wife just got me one for Christmas, and I couldn't be more thrilled!! haha!! It's so quiet compared to my last keyboard as well. It wasn't mechanical, but was still really loud. This thing is a dream to type on, and I'm so excited!

Anyone ever use a logitech g600s? I had a g5 years ago and remember it being awesome and lasting forever so would try logitech again

I currently have a razer naga and can't see myself going back to a mouse without the 1-12 keypad on the side. However the tracking is complete dog shit. If you pick the mouse up at all and put it down it isn't usable for several seconds. It'll also just randomly do it. I googled the issue and it seems a lot of them have this problem

The G600 mouse isn't a bad substitute for the naga but I find it's not as easy to use 5/6/8/9 on the side and I really dislike the center position of the top two mouse buttons. I hated Razer ever since they went cloudware only and removed the NUM switch on the bottom so the G600 was the primary option most people switched to. The on-board memory is actually used for the G600 so you can load up the software one time, select your custom light or whatever settings, then never use the software again.

I've been using a g600 for about a long while now.

Only two complaints and one of them is probably just due to my small hands.

1) I can't reach the top 3 buttons comfortably, g9,10,11. So I never use them.

2) The mouse sometimes acts up. Like it will only move horizontally. I have to pick the mouse up and put it down a couple times and it goes back to normal. This has happened across multiple motherboards and on both win7/win10.

I've used a pair of G15s to keyboard for about 6 years. Any reason to get a G710+? I feel like the G15 is still as good as any keyboard you can buy nowadays.

Is there a way to get general mouse button 4 and 5 back with the newest version of Logitech Gaming Software? This is getting almost maddening because I keep having to switch shortcut key commands which invariably fucks up later in some app/game/browser/whatever.

I don't know why they would remove mouse button 4 and 5 and only allow you to set buttons to 'generic' which is really just default.

Ok so I tried posting this in the headphones thread, didn't get much of a response. I stepped on my Logitech G930's, and while they work perfectly fine, I was due for an upgrade anyways. I bought a pair of the Astro A50's to replace the 930's.

I have this ridiculous buzzing noise coming from them, havent tried all the fixes on the planet and everything suggested in the Googles and can't get it to go away. Are there ANY decent wireless headsets out there? I don't want Bluetooth, gotta be wireless.

Edit: Before someone calls me a complete retard for not getting a pair of M50X or K612 Pro's or any of the like, you gotta understand I absolutely need wireless. For some stupid reason it is built into my DNA to wander around when I'm on the phone with someone and that is basically all I do all day for work is talk on the phone. If there is a pair of good "audiophile" (or whatever the fuck you wanna call it) head phones that are wireless, I'd look into it and just find a mic to strap on.

Right now I'm planning on returning these pieces of shit and getting a pair of the SteelSeries H / Siberia 800.

I have a G710+ that I got on megasale from BestBuy (thanks SlickDeals). I think it is a pretty good keyboard but Logitech's software... god is it bad. I don't even install it. It is one of the quieter mechanical keyboards though, so you'd have that going for you, which would be nice.

I own these...

Amazon.com: Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphones (Discontinued By Manufacturer): Electronics

Get em used for 150. The reason no one probably answered you is because you probably need a headset? There are no good wireless headsets. Headphones yes.

Don't get those Steelseries H . They sound no better than the Logitechs. The 800's are ok. Not worth 350 though.
