Buying from the PS Store gets you the pre-load. Buying [digital] from Amazon, Gamestop, etc. just gets you fucked. I asked Amazon about it and never got a response after the initial canned reply, and then went to my local Gamestop and asked them how buying digital would work and the dude said no pre-load. I'm sure it's Sony's way of getting people to buy directly from them.

I kind of wanted physical anyway, so ended up just buying the LE to pick up at midnight. Doubt the servers will be available until 3AM EDT, so that's plenty of time to install it and then sit around and wait.

Xbox announced they were going to start doing digital preorders in their press conference a couple days ago...but only in late September and only with a couple titles initially. I'm honestly shocked that they did not have this capability from Day One.

1) I am still not seeing the "Incredible scale and scope" that they copied from some IGN writeup.

1.2) "It doesn't matter who you were, only who you will become" "Become Legend" = become a standard.

You are on a set story. Majority of games today write a single player story into their mmo games. You're not going to become anything that millions of others aren't becoming too at the same time. It's not like you can take a path to become something others aren't.

Again, I am not seeing the "scope". It seems like a very linear story, with no individual character development to speak of skipping from instance to instance with little to no ability to interact with anything other than the scripted content.

I am very much looking forwards to the game, but that trailer made me roll my eyes.

The weapons in Destiny look less unique than those in Borderlands to me - the legendary ones they showed off in various videos all look pretty much the same as the rare/uncommon ones but with a different color palette.

The Exotic's have special effects but you are correct they aren't nearly as numerous as in Borderlands, at least not what we have seen so far.

Anyone played Destiny and Warframe have an opinion on the two?
They are different games. In Warframe the classes are called frames and you can build them by farming maps and collecting the parts then crafting them. Then you also farm the skills which can be upgraded through a similar mechanism to crafting. You can also do the same with your weapons (no armor though since skills determine your defenses as well as offenses). The pace is extremely fast and the powers/abilities/skills can be over the top and unbalanced when compared to other classes. (Nova M. Prime turns all mobs in a very large radius into bombs. Kill one and it blows up it's friends who blow up their friends etc. Yes it sounds exactly as OP and awesome as it is)

Destiny is open (semi-open) world instead of several instanced maps. The abilities and classes have been geared to be balanced against each other (a.k.a. Very few classes and sub-classes) and the PvE content is actually designed to be difficult without needing to play a Survival type map for 2 hours first. The gun's and variety of abilities in Destiny are noticeably fewer then would you can obtain in Warframe but that's because they are trying to keep the PvE game an interesting challenge.

Warframe also turns into a horrific grind typical of F2P games almost immediately upon finishing the tutorial.

Pretty sure this is the longest August ever.
Seriously, my whole setup is almost ready.

Got my Xim 4 and Razer Orbweaver. Waiting on my Logitech G502s which should be shipped today.

Come out already, I'm ready to frag motherfucking aliens.

How is the Orbweaver?
It feels pretty great. Need to get used to it though, never used a keypad before. Got it because it will be easier to use it from the couch on the coffee table than a full sized keyboard.
The mechanical keys are great, and the thing is really adjustable to your hand.

Price is a bit high though.

How does that Xim 4 work? I'd like to try out Destiny, but I'm pretty sure I suck at using a controller vs. kb/mouse.

It uses game-specific profiles generated by the developer. When a game comes out, they get data from like 24 hours of gameplay in order to have a good translation between joystick and mouse that is adapted to the game.

Everything is managed via an android or PC app that connects to the hardware via bluetooth. You can remap buttons, adjust sensitivity (both for hip fire and aim down sights) and so on via the app.

You need to have compatible hardware though. For example, my Razer Naga 2014 is recognized, but as most new razers it doesn't have onboard memory so the thing just uses default dpi when not plugged in to a PC, which kinda sucks with the XIM. That's why I ordered a G502s to go with it. Basically, you just set your mouse to max DPI, the game to max sensitivity, and then you adjust sensitivity in the app until you're good with it.

Sure it's not really plug&play, but it beats sucking with a controller once it's done.

You really should have tried the beta. I despise the very idea of using a gamepad for fps more than anyone and had no problems in Destiny at all.
