Because it's a good way to get a ton of people to stop playing seasons. Gating content behind a paywall on a game that is already box based is pretty shitty. They'd sell a bunch sure, but it's just a bad idea. They should be selling cosmetics, shit doesn't hurt anybody, and it'd make similar amounts of money probably with all the idiots spending all their money buying pointless shit. Pets, portraits, those ugly ass banners, wings, even transmogs. And obviously stash space. Shit's already integrated too since they're doing in the chinese client, so it's basically no cost to add and just free money. How is that stupid?
Because it is the wrong way to make money. The best F2P models make you actively want to log in and sell you cosmetics and QOL things. If Diablo forced you to pay $5 to unlock a season no one would log in to play. How is that stupid?
I'm sure many would but most would not. You can look at pretty much any F2P model and the amount of people who pay $0 is staggering. The real money made off F2P isn't a crowd of people chipping in a little is is generally off a smaller population chipping in a ton.I don't poopsock or anything. I'm only Paragon 550ish. I would pay 5 bucks each season to play.
I play seasons because it brings my friends back. If it cost me 5 bucks to do that I would easily. I understand how other games do their F2P models but that doesn't mean every game could make it on the same models. As has been brought up here, you almost can't do cosmetics because shit still looks like pixelated crap. You can't do random fag housing without a serious code rewrite. I'm not saying Blizzard needs the money or even cares about it. I'm just saying if it were the case I would pay for it.I'm sure many would but most would not. I am not ok with that idea. They'd have to pay me to play seasons after slogging through the bullshit of the first two, and not with the cosmetic 'rewards' you get now but something tangible like stash tabs. No idea how you people can stand to farm the same shit from zero over and over.
I still can't believe that some people are ok with the idea of them charging money for stash upgrades either. It's a fucking $100 game, at least for people who got in at release, and there's no excuse for even considering microtransactions of that sort.
Oh fuck off with that crap.I actually like what White Knight Chronicles 2 did, though it was much more pay to win style, but you could "buy" buffs. You could buy higher drop rates, buy +exp, buy +gold, etc.
I'd certainly pay for shit like higher drop rates.
