why would they release a free expansion? there's no precedence for blizzard releasing free expansions... their only reason why they would, is because they'd theoretically make some money off the RMAH... but why would they settle on that when they could make ~$40 off box sales?

Interesting information on the paragon levels. Sounds like the levels will be joined and beneficial to all characters. This will alleviate concerns people had with taking the time to make a paragon 100 in two classes only to have all the benefits shared. I assume joined only because they stated they are removing the cap on them.

The item changes will make or break this game once and for all. I hope they do it justice. I am still confused as to why white items have to even drop, but I assume some of the new crafting skills will explain that.

Well I wish they added a new interesting class. Paladin when they already have Monk is like kinda redundant. They could have added Consecration to Monk at 70 and add something at least interesting. I mean maybe it's the colors and the themes of the spells but everything felt very much like Monk shit, oh look this is a blind, oh look this is like a mantra, oh look there's a delayed jump attack thing that's like seven point strikes but aoe, ugh. I'm usually big on new classes but this one isn't doing it for me. Rest of the game looks nice enough but if they full price this like SC2 expansions I'm most likely not buying. If it's 30$ I'll probably just buy it to play for a week.

Any detailed information about unfucking the game into something worth playing more then a few weeks? Or is it just the announcement, some videos and "arent you excited now??!" blabla? I glimpsed at a bullet point that mentioned "completely random McDungeons that last 15-20 min" which is the only info that actually adresses one of my own issues with D3.

I think they went with paladin to have a class where defensive stats and shields are actually useful and not just shitty rolls or vendor trash. Hopefully it also means they adjusted stats and itemization for other classes.

Mr Creed: they are redoing itemization, they call it Loot 2.0 (which is fucking retarded name), basically less quantity more quality. Bosses will drop guaranteed uniques on first kill and they should change how you play the character instead of just +gooderer, more rares, less whites and blues. Read the link I posted.

I'm going to take a closer look at the details today but my immediate thoughts are:

1. New class does not interest me in the slightest. No way in hell I'm leveling 4x through that crappy story again.
2. The new McDungeon is only 20 mins long? Huh?? WTF? Just add an infinite dungeon already!
3. Loot mechanics. Hee hee - sure they're going to fix that.

I believe the new dungeon is "multitiered", so it may be infinite, I just think each tier is broken up into convenient chunks.

Depending on what they do I'll be there day1 with cash in hand. Diablo3 still has the best ARPG engine out there and if they fix some basic stuff like itemization and bland end-game the game could consume me.

The fall of Blizzard is highly exaggerated. Sure there were some fundamental problems with design in D3 vanilla but dude got fired for it. However the engine that runs Diablo 3 still is the most fluid, the most responsive and the most satsifying of any ARPG on the market. Starcraft2's single player was shit but, again, the engine and multi-player focused lead it to be the absolute best modern RTS on the market. Blizzard has also made the most successful, and I'd argue the best, MMORPG on the market. Not sure why the forum warriors are all over their nuts thinking they're a failure company.

More like a fall from grace, than a failure. The bed shitting has been pretty consistent since WC3: Frozen throne and WoW: Lich King.

I really liked D3. Put over 300 hours into it, which more than returns the 50 bucks I spent on it. I'm looking forward to this expansion, seeing as apparently D2 also became what it was starting with its expansion. I have a moderate amount of hope that this'll be good.
