Linear scaling, and actually having the devs play their own game.
Yeah, I was wondering how offended the arpg crowd would feel if you stripped all of their gear and uniques of anything % based and went down to simple additive +fixed stat/damage values. The feeling of power gains would disappear immediately. Would people still play the game when they get gear and now their end game character is only doing an extra 500 damage/hit over their starting character? Have we been too conditioned into huge exponential gains by all of the popular games?

Whole ‘nother can of weird that people are still playing that game.

Not really when there are a slew of very good mods out there that have basically modernized it.

Project Diablo 2 is an excellent online mod with a pretty large playerbase. And it resets this Friday.

Basically how PoE started. Back in the release days you couldn't go over 20kish dps or you'd 1 shot yourself to reflect packs. Stayed that way just about all the way until 2.0 then they started to introduce retarded scaling and the number chasers flocked to it. Really it's not the damage value that matters, it's just the feeling of being powerful these retards are chasing. If you do 500 damage to the mobs 5 health you would just need to give them some other way to feel fulfilled like a kills count. You'd then replace dps with kills per minute or something similar.

Necro is 29 from just running around and getting Altars of Lilith from Scosglen. Probably do the same in next zone tonight.
