I hardly ever use Jahan to actually do anything other than heal my knight, rogue and Madora.

This game runs like shit. Being able to move every object is a nice idea but if you can't program a system to run it smoothly then DON'T DO IT.
The UI is also shit. No I don't mean window design by UI, I mean that fucking mouse clicks often don't work or act like you expect. So frustrating.
The game design is shit. I shouldn't be figuring out which gate to use to exit the massive town by manually walking through each one and checking what levels the monsters are. I've played for 7 hours including rerolling a few characters and I've had around 10 fights total, thanks over elaborate starter town and it's murder mystery.

I replayed the Baldur's Gate trilogy a few weeks ago and it has none of these problems. So no "it's going back to an older style of gaming" crap please.

That being said the combat and character building seem awesome so i'll stick with it.

Game runs fine for me. Maybe your computer is terrible. The only real annoyance I have is in combat sometimes it is difficult to click on things to attack and I have to wave my cursor for a little while to find the magic spot where I can actually click it.

For your other complaints sounds like a nice fine Bioware console RPG is your cup of tea.

Yeah game runs perfectly fine for me, never drop from 60FPS or have any issues, might be gfx specific or your pc is just pretty old/details too high. Clicking has some issues sometimes in inventory when you try to drag and drop items right after opening a bag or using a spell or something and it'll click something else but this happens very infrequently and other than that haven't had an issue. Click mobs can be annoying but rotating the camera or going vertical view generally fixes it.

On the gameplay stuff, it might have been too subtle of a clue for people, but one of the gates is actually opened right away, you don't need to ask a guard to open it then confirm, and that happens to be the gate that's the easiest(the lighthouse direction one). It's basically saying "you should go here first".

Pirated it, played it for a couple nights, got my shit wrecked, learned some things, got wrecked again. Bought it today.

I greatly appreciate playing something so unfriendly.

My PC can run nicer things graphically. Don't get me wrong I like me a hardcore RPG, that isn't mutually exclusive with good game design.

When I tried to open the other gates at lvl 4-5, even the guards asked me whether I really want to go outside.

UI is kinda shit, like when you are trying to figure out line of sight and find out that there's like 2 pixels where you can land the ability, or when you accidentally skip a turn, or how resists/immunities/absorbs aren't communicated at all. Knowing that firing arrows point blank has a chance to affect your character too would be nice or figuring out range for telekinesis while standing at the edge of a trap can only be done with save/load. Fuck, you are better off just chucking a fireball into every room before entering just so you don't run into anything. There's a lot of shit the designers just figured out the players will save scum around I guess, because just the ability to cast damage spells on your own heroes without ctrl is questionable at best.

Also, how does blind work ? My warrior was blinded, the tooltip said he can't see the target, so I tried to at least get close and he casually landed an attack ? Possibly bug ?

Blind is actually supposed to work like that, doesn't do anything against melees, but prevents you from using any ability unless you're next to the target. So it's an anti range CC, forces them into melee range. On the AI though it simply makes them skip their turn instead so it's one of the strongest CC in the entire game since no mobs is immune afaik and if there's no valid target in melee range they simply don't do anything for like 3turns.

Special arrows have aoes so makes sense firing them point blank affects you, kinda like aoe spells but guess it's not particularily clear before you fire one or fight mobs with special arrows. Traps you can just pop anyway, ctrl click on them with a bow or cast a spell, or lategame just run into them with a warrior, plate armor+ruby gives so much resists my warrior basically gets healed by any non physical damage(and mitigates like 70% of physical), and that's without a shield. Casting spells on your allies without a button is kinda stupid though yeah, sometimes you do want to do it(like casting Flare to remove Frozen) but most of the time you don't.

Getting rekt in this game but it's pretty addicting. Is there a place to get a lot of res scrolls? I can't bring one of my party members back to life :p

Vendors reset their inventory every level, but no specific place. If you die too much it's easier to just reload than rez everyone but eh. Rez spell is lvl 16 too so that kinda sucks.

Something is wrong, either with your PC, or the settings, or something. You shouldn't be having those first two issues. Also, those probably contributed to your subsequent frustration with the game.

I'll agree that they shouldn't have made the very first town some place you could literally spend 8 hours in, but eventually I got bored and just went outside. I would imagine that's how most people did it. A little more direction and "pipelining" at the beginning probably would have been helpful, but with all the crying about "open world" people do nowadays, I can't blame them for leaving it up to you to figure it out. And honestly, I think your frustration with the mechanics (which has to be something specific to your setup) is coloring a lot of that, because it wasn't as big a deal for me with everything working smoothly and perfectly. If my shit was lagging and acting funky, yeah I probably would have been annoyed too. So figure out what is wrong, or you are going to end up hating one of the better games in a long time.

I'm having difficulty getting into this game despite the fact that I typically love party based RPG's. It just has this "euro hard" feel and a UI that makes things feel clunky. Despite reading the cruddy manual, I still kind of feel "lost", as if I'm not playing the game right. Like, why when reaching level 2 can I not put points into an ability that already has a point in it? I'm still wandering around Cyseal trying to get a feel for how things work.. A heavy Hearthstone addiction probably isn't helping my ADD when it comes to committing myself to figuring everything out the hard way.

Abilities require increasing amount of points to level them, so to get 1point in something you need 1point but to get the 2nd point you need 2points and so on. It makes it harder to max everything since it costs 15points to max something vs just 5. You get more points per level every 5levels too, like starting 6 you get 2points per level, 3 at 11+.

I am level 12 now, its a great experience for sure. It does get a little monotonous however as fights start feeling all too similar once you get to know your party. Also, playing turn based as long as I have makes me realize how awesome the old "Pause" style really was. ( BG etc ).

If you want to have $$ early pickpocket everyone... i dumped points into pickpocket and there is no one i have not pocketed yet.

My PC pegs this game but it still runs like shit. I have had several overheats with this game. Similar %s as far as utilization as other games but 15+ degrees higher... I can't make sense of it.

Never had even the slightest performance hiccup with this game, I thought it was fairly friendly on my CPU. And Pyros, my Earthquake suggestion (that I used when I finally got it), was detach girl caster from party. Have Jahan cast Invis on her, have her run into enemy group then Earthquake, Pyramid the rest of the party on top of her. Retarded obviously that you can't just use it whenever you want, but it has a massive fucking area, and knocking down every enemy to start a fight is great. Earth would really suck less if they didn't have so much poison damage against swarms of undead. Earth is the most garbage choice for nukes early game due to the fact that you don't fight nonundead until the beach Orcs at like 6. Anything that wasn't actually immune to poison however? Get fucking raped by Acid Spray and Ooze whatever, those things did hella damage on the rare occasions I could use them.

Also, Death Punch was retarded, but in a fun way.

Cleared the lighthouse, esort quest and the weird mirror dungeon to get upto lv5, really enjoying the combat. Think I'll do either the orc beach or creepy manor next.

I have the settings on minimum, I'm utterly puzzled at the performance issues. The only explaination I have is that it's poorly programmed and can't handle quad cores or something. I've just been playing Final Fantasy 14 which ran fine.

Drivers issue maybe? Sounds really weird cause yeah as most other people didn't have a single issue, everything's on max and it never slows down even when I do shit like charging through a fire field with poison on(which creates a chain reaction of explosions on the way very quickly due to charge movespeed). Granted my computer is pretty new so that obviously helps. Divinity being a kinda indie game though I would assume it has issues with shit like win xp, possibly ATI cards I don't know.

Cyrus I understood your Earthquake strat but just felt unnecessary really and sounds annoying to setup, but yeah it's a way to do it. Other way would simple to have enough people that can't get knocked down, like body building 5 warriors or people with immunity to knockdown gear. For example my duo now has immunity to stun on both of them, which lets me use lightning spells in any way I want, no more stunning my warrior cause he's standing in a pool of blood and it electrifies it. But that's fairly lategame, then again Earthquake is also lategame.

Lightning is basically the best nuking element, the damage is close to fire, the status effect is stupidly strong compared to burning and poison and it has the least amount of resistant mobs in the entire game. Frost has all those mobs in the frost area and the spells do garbage damage anyway plus freezing is annoying since it increases armor, fire is like all demons and burning skeletons and shit like that and poison is like all undead and all plants and earth shit and what not it's almost like half the mobs in the game. Doesn't make too much of a difference though considering warriors/rogues/archers do more damage to begin with, so you can just spend time buffing/debuffing/CCing and let the others clear shit.

They kept doing that to me with the eastern gate forever, so I didn't open it until I had cleared the rest of the chapter. At that point I had already killed the eastern gate area's boss in his reincarnated version before I met him in his first version. Still, the guard kept telling me I was too low level to go out, despite being level 10 when that area is level 7.

I didn't even know there was an open gate, it was the last one I found! I still haven't found the single quest they telegraph you to, which is "golem in a cave to the north".
