Hard to say. Kinda just depends on what elements you like/dislike. I personally never really cared for River(might've just been that she wasn't attractive, but I never felt the romantic connection they were supposed to have, idk), and was tepid toward Amy, so I disliked a fair portion of Smith's stint. I enjoyed his take on the doctor, but never felt his doctor had the presence and power of Tenant's. Season 7 gets somewhat frustrating toward the second half just because they bullshit around the overarching plot line in between Moffat episodes, but there's definitely some quality ones in there. All-in-all, I wouldn't say it's worse than season 6.

River and Tennant I could have maybe seen, but River and Smith seemed off, probably because the physical age appearance of the actors was so distant. I wanted to see more of a build with the Doctor and River though just out of curiosity to see how their relationship built, but that was it. Hoping there's more continuation to possibly fill in some parts? It hasn't actually been shown where the Doctor has told River his real name yet?

The 10th told River he could have only said his name in one place, at one time (possibly Trenzalore). We assumed it was their wedding. Their wedding came and went, and he didn't tell her his name (instead telling her he was in the tessalecta).

It had to have happened off screen since she knew his name at Trenzalore already (opening the TARDIS while they were all arguing); May have found it out during their last night together with Jim the Fish?

This River is post-Library. She knew his name at the Library too. She just didn't say when she learned it. The Doctor and we assumed at his wedding. Still hasn't taken place, probably will in the 50th or X-mas ep if at all.

I don't read The Telegraph so I missed their story in the Sunday edition until reading about it elsewhere just now. Hilariously misleading title...

The fact that no-one else has followed up on it in the days since suggests it's just random bollocks though.

i would love to see a return to a more adult Doctor and cut out all the kiddie shit they have been doing with 11.

Okay there has been a lot of back and forth on this subject as to whether or not it is true. It could all still be a huge mindfuck, but if it isn't...

The possibility that for the 50th anniversary they could actually air episodes that have been presumed lost for decades would be such an incredible thing.

If the rumors are true then there would only be 16 missing episodes left. Sadly some would be from the Dalek Master Plan so that will likely never be complete.

Remember than Docs 1&2 aired 52 weeks a year, so between the two of them they had a metric fuckton of episodes.

I didn't catch that. The picture has been around a while though.

It really was the natural progression. We knew there was a massive war going on during the 7th Doctor, then suddenly with the 9th it's over... Completely over. Daleks, Time Lords, Eternals, all kaput. And McGann is the guy that massacred everyone? I remember fighting with and against folks on the old board in 2006/7 about there having to definitely be a lost Doctor. McGann was...and I mean this in a really nice way...a giant pussy. The idea that somehow this fruity Doctor became hideously violent just didn't make sense. I was a big 7th Doctor fan, so I was really expecting that type of Doctor, and instead we got that McGann movie /shudder.

Yeah, this still brings about questions though from the non-television Doctor Who stuff though.

I mentioned it before in this thread, but there are novels, comics, etc. which have the McGann Doctor in the middle of the Time War doing things that effect the outcome. I'd have to do more research, because I'm not sure if this stuff was written pre-Eccleston's Doctor or maybe even in the Tennant era, where more knowledge of what went on during the Time War came out (The Nightmare Child, and so forth.)

I do agree with you wholeheartedly about McGann's Doctor being a giant pussy. I had always convinced myself that Eccleston's Doctor was the one who actually did all of the violent/murderous things we know about in the end of the Time War, and simply ran to Earth afterwards without a regeneration, but if they're going to make Hurt's Doctor the one from the War, and Eccleston simply the one he regenerated into post-Time War, i'm perfectly ok with that too.

I always wanted to believe it was Ecclestone. But there's too much in Rose to indicate he just regenerated moments before the episode began, especially looking in the mirror and complaining about his ears. The second ep even has the Doctor crying with the Tree lady as she recounts the impossibility of his existence. Davies really set this up from the get go, I think. Probably was an entirely different plan, but it really worked out well imo. I'm just not sure how the 50th anniversary ep can be so serious AND be a romp for fans. It's going to be interesting. I'd really prefer them to go all out with an evil Doctor and not have this guy redeem himself.

Also this is a major, major, MAJOR spoiler floating around by very reputable sources. Please don't click if you don't want to know what could very possibly be the Doctor's true identity and name. If you're an old fan like me you will probably start foaming at the mouth, then gradually realize......fuck...it makes total sense.

The Doctor is Omega

Oh I thought that spoiler had been speculated for a long, long time now.

That Omega reinserted himself into the loom for a future reincarnation of sorts and was regenerated into House Lungbarrow . I read something theorizing this on the Doctor Who wiki years ago. Would be great if it turned out to be legit, but not that surprising really.
