I dunno, nothing in the gameplay trailer seemed particularly objectionable except how bad the person playing it was. It was very on-rails and pretty brain-dead, but it was presumably an intro of some sort.
Not for me though, if I found ADHD jumping around standing in and out of flashing circles fun I'd still be playing WoW.

Bioware pioneered "romances" with baldurs gate, and "sex scenes" with mass effect. of course, this isn't the same bioware... but, mass effect also was marketed on the sex scenes at the time.
I nevered like that shit in games. its always so forced and weird. its always annoyed me bioware games leaned into it more and more. you can't even be friendly with npcs without suddenly they wanting to jump your bones. can't explore their backstories, without leading into the romance/sex.
Which is where the "pansexual" bullshit comes in. it removes any identity of these characters. They become even less of a character, and more of a masturbation object.
wrath of the righteous. Daeran being bi? yeah, that checks out. Sosiel? gay. he will shoot you down, if you play a female. Cameilia dudes. good luck.

For as much as I like the older Mass Effects - that part where they make you attend that fucking Birthday..(?) party? That shit was just awful. All it does is show the social ineptitude of the developers of that shit because .. shit, theres no better word for it. It was just "cringe."
But this? Everything in that gameplay trailer is awful and I'd have the same attitude towards it even if it was a white main character, even if it was a different company, even if that cinematic trailer had never came out, even if all the characters were straight, etc. etc. Its just bad. lol

Leilana in dragon Age Origins was Bisexual, because she was a fully fleshed out character and it made sense. Whats his name, the gay elf? he was gay. actually I dont remember if you could romance him as a female or not cus I never played a female character but dude was definitely a twink power bottom doubt he went for the ladies. The rest were heterosexual characters.

I was trying to remember the other games but my memories are too fuzzy.
I wonder how Stardew does it? I fell hard for Abigail in that one. She was so mysterious and lovely. She made a few comments like "I don't ordinarily like girls but you are special. No homo" so maybe they are all "pansmexual"

All the worst parts of Dragon Age writing were a result of David Gaider being promoted to lead. He was so invested in spreading his degenerate agenda that DA2 even retconned any decisions made by the player in DA:O/A that he didn't approve of.

Maybe in part, but they mostly include shit like that because players complain otherwise or keep demanding it. It's one of those "gameplay experience overrides other factors" so players don't feel forced to make certain gameplay choices purely because the meta game requires it. At least when it comes to the romantic fantasy stuff.
If Baldurs Gate 3 had it so Karlach could only be romanced by a tiefling warlock, Lae'zel a drow ranger, and Shadowheart a gnome monk, people would be annoyed because in order to progress in those romances, they'd have to play a specific race and class that they may otherwise not want to play.
Cyberpunk 2077 was a good example of this in action: Judy only went for female V, Panam for male V. It is consistent for their characters, but players got annoyed because if a male V player found Judy more attractive they were SOL and same for Panam if they played a female V.

I think baldurs gate 3 just gave up and let everyone fuck anyone. Its consistent with their fuck it approach to racial attributes where they just let all races have the same stat bonuses. They caved to player bitching because nerds cant handle their preferred whatever being relatively weaker. I suspect this is what da is doing here - not trying to push some sexual agenda so much as just removing any limitation so they dont get bitched at for gatekeeping.
Its shit. Bg3 romance is heaping dogshit despite how good the game is. Bg2 romance seemed more meaningful when you could pop out a baby and have it kidnapped and shit.
The other problem is that the entire game industry has catered to horny coomers and having softcore porn embedded and seemingly unavoidable doesnt real scare anyone off, its so normalized, while tons of people will be more likely to pick up a game that has it, so as devs its just free money to throw in sex bullshit.

Except it isn't a challenge in that situation, it's a prerequisite that is determined before you ever start playing the actual game. Your point might stand if there was a difficult and hard to find way where Miss Hotty McGothpants will agree to scissor your female character even though she only goes for male characters normally, for example.
Baldurs also makes some relationships harder to fully finish. Shadowheart is probably main example - she doesn't throw herself at you like a lot of the other characters do and you basically have to do a bunch of correct things/choices and find some special items in acts 1 and 2 or you basically will get locked out of it when act 3 rolls around. That's a better way of doing it: Your actual gameplay actions during the game determine whether or not you can unlock it with the character, not what you decided to make during character creation before you even get to play the game.
