this thread needs to be locked down or just fucking deleted until an official announcement is made. actually fuck that, i wont believe it until the film is made and there is a trailer giving a release date. they tried to bury the first one, this one will probably get shelved if they ever make another.

If you are looking for nostalgia from the original this does not do it. It is a vane attempt at using the characters in a movie unrelated to the premise of the first.

Don't watch: exaggerated gore in slow motion made "pretty" with psychedelic effects, with not-so-subtle misogynistic undertones. There was little depth at all. Just slow parts in between hyper-violent parts. I am a sci-fi/action adventure buff. This was more like thinly disguised torture-porn.
Good music. Grungy world nicely depicted. Dredd's gear is cool.

"Watch: exaggerated gore in slow motion made "awesome" with psychedelic effects. An eye-poppingly callous villain named 'Mama', perhaps creating a not-so-subtle misogynistic tone until you see the co-star in action . There was all the depth I needed; tight story telling showing a glimpse of the Judge Dredd universe. Slower parts in between hyper-violent parts, but I suppose dialogue was needed and that's ok because there are explody bullets, gattling guns AND several terribly unlucky hobos to entertain you. I am a sci-fi/action adventure buff. This was more like thinly disguised comic-porn and I needmore.
Good music. Grungy world nicely depicted. Dredd's gear is cool. I suspect weird psychic nexus between original abortion of a movie, Stallone, and cool inner brain sex cuz Dredd movie and Demolition Man both had it.

a misogynistic reinforcement of cis privileged white men oppressing women, glorifying violence and heteronormative rape culture. No transgendered or queer-curious characters emphasizes how out of touch this movie is with society. Fat shaming taken to extreme levels with all hideously thin and malnourished characters.

As promised I met Karl Urban today and I asked him about Dredd sequel. He replied that he would love to do it if they ask, same with Riddick.
