My toughest fight (people will lol at this) was probably Commander Niall for whatever reason. I hate that SOB

Toughest fight for me for melee was Godskin (skinny). The opportunity for attack was so small. Also the crucible knights can fuck right off. People say the big ones like the void dragon and fire giant, but honestly the trick to those fights is not locking on.

The issue with melee in this game is just really badly balanced cost of opportunity to attack. It forces you into just forcing a ton of jump attacks to load up alpha and stagger. There's almost never enough time for a double swing, or a charge attack. It's a little lame. And you don't even really get rewarded on it as melee isn't even the best damage in this one.

Personally I hope they do away with the ashes system, if indeed I'm right in that they force bosses to be crazy aggressive to the point where most are trivial as magic users and difficult for everyone else.

That's the thing with all these Souls games, they are so much harder single player than multi-coop. Every single boss going back to Demon's Souls is made so much easier if you just summon someone in to help. You just need someone to hold the boss's focus and go defensive, other people go in for hits, then rinse/repeat.

I'm not sure why they brought in the ash summons for this iteration, my feeling is because they want to make this game more appealing to the general gamin populace, and on that end they have succeeded. Probably a quick fix is that the boss should scale and become harder when you use an ash summon, just like it does when you summon another player(s) in.

I don't have a personal issue with the ash system, I think it let's people get over the most frustrating parts of the game without having to resort on other people. I personally try a boss with no ash, then if I hit a wall I'll use mimic tear. I tried summoning other people to help but it usually ends up worse than if I try myself with the mimic so I gave up on that a while ago.

I love the ash system. It has a large variety of summons to collect and makes the game more accessible for people. I have recommended this to a couple people that have never played a souls game. I usually don’t do that due to the frustrating difficulty. They are in love with the game, I like that I have more friends to chat about it with, and don’t really care it makes the fights easier.

I'm lagging behind a lot of people here, but I just beat Fire Giant. I love the encounters that at first seem impossible, then possible with near perfect execution, and then done. Most frustrating thing for me still has been the pre-nerf Radahn. They must have made that almost trivial because I saw DSP beat him the other day.

Just did him a couple minutes ago myself. Really cool fight and felt good to finally beat him after getting schooled at the start. Was also refreshing after the gimmick fight that was Rykard.

So reading that if you use an Incantation Seal that scales primarily with something other than Faith that it wont effect Heals / Buffs as those only scale off Faith despite what the Incant Scaling stat shows.

Can anyone confirm or deny this based on their first hand knowledge? There are just so many hidden numbers in this game, makes it quite frustrating.

Can confirm this is the way it works unfortunately. The beast seal doesn't for example scale any damage on the holy or lightning enchant either, those only scale on raw FAI regardless of the seal itself scaling from STR. The only thing it seems to actually scale is raw damage on nukes - lightning bolt/beast claw and such.

Anyone done/doing any heavy PVP yet? I'm basically done with my 2nd playthrough and am playing around with some respecs trying to find some fun stuff to invade with, but it's pretty lame so far. I can't come up with anything that even comes close to going toe to toe with the powerstance bleed setups so far. Be it dual spears or anime swords or a twinblade it doesn't matter, blade scales so hard and so fast and does so much damage I don't think anything can compete with it?

Had a bit of fun with 80 FAI and the red lightning strike thing oneshotting a few people that were running low vigor or the eyeball talismanss at least.

My friend wasn’t coming close prepatch but spanked him after the patch. The orbs in phase 2 don’t do damage anymore. Sounds lame, I didn’t think he was that hard. Like 50% of players have beat him so far, that’s crazy high for how late he is in the game.

Yup, leveling alts for the different levels as well, 80 seems to be the sweet spot right now.

Offense is the best defense against that dude. He has like 0 poise and you can stun lock him with 1h weapons even.
I just logged on and one shot him, using same strat as last night, using the moonlight great sword. Turns out I just needed to git gud.

Reality is I was probably tired and slow last night.
