You'd think so but it's actually dropped by a giant near that frenzied village.

Oh is it that giant that I skirted around to get to the tower/rise? He's just chilling out in the middle of nowhere, but the suped up trolls are fuckers, so I had no desire to fuck with him.

Mine definitely came from night cavalry

I wonder if this is like the DS2 black knight weapons where it's only a chance to drop from enemies that don't respawn and you can just get entirely cucked?

Glad I beat him prenerf, but it's sounding like they are already also nerfing content I'm not even at yet. I've been really taking my time apparently. I'm at 90 hours and just nearing the end of Mt. Gelmir(though I've fucked around in areas further ahead, progression-wise). I haven't "lost time" in a single player game like this, in forever. It reminds me of Skyrim in that regard, except it has rewarding combat and loot.
totally agree. I did the Volcano Manor quests to end up getting access to the serpent dude, but then went back and redid the zone the other way and lost a few hours in the process. While I agree I am glad I beat Radahn pre-nerf, they are also getting rid of some blatant cheats (Fire Giant fall damage exploits) that make it so you have to beat a boss "the intended way." I'm currently most of the way through Crumbling Farum Azula and trying to decide if I want to go back and use the Haligtree Secret Medallion before I after I try to finish the main story.

At this point I can't see myself immediately starting a new playthrough when I beat the final boss. I think I'm going to need to digest the excellence that is this game for at least a few days before diving back in and trying a completely different playstyle.

My toughest fight (people will lol at this) was probably Commander Niall for whatever reason. I hate that SOB

I also had a ton of trouble with the commander is the northern snow castle (the one that guards half the medallion for the secret not-DLC zones) too, if that's Niall. I totally forgot about him when I was listing the bosses that gave me grief. There really does seem to be a variance between players on which fights they find easy or hard, depending on their styles, so you're always gonna have "YMMV" situations.

Updated bosses that gave me grief: Malenia, Commander Niall, Fire Giant, Fallingstar Beast in Mines, Radahn, Mohg (final version in throne room), Hoarah Loux (the muscle-head guy, couldn't get near him, even though the first 70% of the fight with his other persona was easy for me)

Bosses that I had no trouble with, that other people seemed to: Maliketh (hell I've seen this thing listed at the top of "toughest boss" lists), Radagon, Rennala, and whatever that golden guy in the throne room was. Godwyn, maybe? The one who is normal-sized and casts spells. I rolled that fight, then kept reading about people struggling with it. And Godskin Duo. I think I won that fight on the first try, just immediately figured the pillars could be used to block them off.

Niall is probably the main one that I struggled with and haven't seen anyone else mention struggling with until now. And Radahn, he's either a joke or a wall to people.

My style of play is one that struggles with twitch-reflexes and instead looks for paths of less resistance. Like I'll identify a weakness or a cheese strat very quickly and down the boss with whatever I can, rather than measuring up to the speed and twitching required.

I haven't been able to play in like 5 days so I am hoping to jump on tonight after work.

Also this is an awesome weapon. Can't remember where I found it though.

I struggled on Niall too, he'd kill my summon so fast and he hit like a truck. Fire giant was actually pretty easy for me, I was able to identify his move set and a good strat faster than most bosses I've fought. Killed him in maybe 5-6 tries.

Finished second play through and feeling lost, haha. Absolutely nothing on my backlog looks enticing in the slightest after this.

Yeah, that's what I was saying before. This game like, obsoletes other games. I did one run, did everything I could possibly find, ended up at level 218 or so, grinded up to 255 to have the stats I wanted, called it a day for now. The main concern for me is not burning it out and leaving NG+ / the other ending trophy for later so I have something to do.

Malenia - yeah, she was a cunt and took probably an hour of tries to get down

Commander Niall - Pretty sure I fought him towards the end, one shotted and used mimic tear (was kind of burning out, so used tear when it made sense at the end of playthrough)

Fire Giant - wasn’t really hard, just took too much patience chasing that huge bitch around. Took probably 5 or 6 tries, Tiche trivializes phase 2, don’t think I even had time to close before she killed him.

Fallignstar beast - don’t even remember it so it was either one shot or a couple of tries

Radahn - took about 5 tries, wasn’t hard in the least as a sorcery build. Just summoned and spammed rock throw.

Mohg - 1 shot, mimic tear and moonveil. Wasn’t really close.

Loux - 1 shot with mimic, he kept agro most of the time. Could definitely see it being much harder without that.

Only addition for me was the twin abductor fight in lava manor. I was under leveled, but sorcery does not work for that fight. Didn’t have an ash worth summoning either, no time to cast spells without getting swarmed. Only fight I cheesed, ended up finding a spot they couldn’t reach me (though still had to dodge the hook guy that throws his weapons).

Twin Abductor is the only fight I know of (besides Lichdragon which is unavailable) that I never actually did. In the postgame I always had a Rune Arc activated and didn't like that you had to take a death to reach that boss. Figured I'd check it out whenever I died next, but I never died again (was mostly just grinding levels and mauling early-game areas I missed at that point).

Was like "do I really want to take a death and lose my rune arc to fight a horrible twin robot boss"

I will never use a bow in any RPG. I can't do it.
