I used Bloodhounds Fang for first 35 levels, but over time got tired of the slow wind up. I lost a lot of hit opportunities by not timing the swing well enough, or not starting the swing early enough to catch a mob, especially when they're lunging or jump attacking you.
Went back, got the Uchigatana and was much happier with it, even though I was a vagabond str build. I'm finding that the tanking playstyle doesnt really work for me because I'm shit at using shield to parry and guard counters rarely work well on bosses. Probably going to try out the dual wield route if I get back into playing next week.

Gamepad is pretty easy to use, I mean it works just like all these other types of games (AC, Witcher 3, etc.)

If you are going to use a shield/tank setup you are generally better getting a spear and one of the super heavy shields and poking from behind the safety of a shield while having enough stamina and poise to soak up everything thrown at you.

Yea I just need to get used to it again. Haven't played on my PS4 in a year or two so I suck at using it right now. Kinda wanted the keyboard to work but it makes too many things feel super wierd to access.
I feel totally lost in this game and thats not a bad thing. Modern games have really gone down hill with quest arrows and all that shit. This feels more like EQ where you don't know anything about the world.

I think PC gamers should give gamepad + mouse a shot for third person melee games
. The only pedal I still use is sprint, and that's pretty superfluous.

not sure what you're asking. But I adjusted my binds such that I put my Skill and Guard on my mouse also. "Pulling the trigger" to activate the skill was just taking too long.

The Xbox style controller worked best for me. Cannot IMAGINE using keyboard and mouse.

That mod Tuco just linked does it, just can’t play online with it. So would be fine for someone like me that doesn’t do the online stuff.

I miss the online stuff but also don't. I think after one playthrough you get enough of the dumbass messages that it's easy to ditch it without remorse.
If you like ER coop/PvP I highly recommend against trying mods. You may not be able to enjoy the vanilla game afterward.

I'm surprised xbox/ps doesn't have 4x paddles as a standard option. Would be a big competitive edge against each other and even the Switch.
For games like AC/ER which are better on gamepad than mouse/kb I still can't deal with having to choose between using my ABXY buttons and controlling the camera. I'll always prefer a mouse but it's rare for unmodded games to allow good mouse control while using a gamepad.

Yeah the rapid fire bow with the rain of arrows, popping poison then bleeds with rain of arrows ash? That fucks. Found a guy doing it right. Might be the specialty arrows and chain hits from the rain carrying it, but nonetheless. The magic arrows did solid damage, I think I saw some gravity ones rained too.
JFC are you controlling the Mars Rover from that battlestation?
