I am really hoping some of the new weapons mentioned like unlimited throwing perfumes and weapons type make it to the old world during release. So one can start from scratch with the so many on the offer

perhaps they may indeed be available via merchants in the old world.

Yeah crafted items are really the only let down in the game for me. They just never seemed worth the trouble in 5 play throughs.

Do you have multiplayer on? Just follow all the stupid comments. Same with hidden walls.

Speaking for myself, I definitely play offline when playing solo, I absolutely can’t stand all of the messages and ghosts shitting up the world. I get my fill of that when playing with my coop friends.

That said, invis bridges are easy, just shoot arrows into the ground in front of you. Arrows are ultra cheap and plentiful.

So, I never completed the game. Got busy with work, and I think ended up picking up another game with my free time with some other buddies, and shelved it. Intention was to go back but when I did, I didn't remember where the hell I was or what I was doing.

I never did the snow field, and I think I was working my way through volcano Manor, or about to start it. When I was playing though I was clearing everything out as completely as possible so everything south of those areas, I think I hit.

Capital City the only area I had not gone to yet because I wanted to save it was the sewers, and I still don't know much about it but I was really excited based upon what people would said about it.

I don't necessarily want to have to cast away my higher level character, and my thought was could I beat the game quickly my doing just a handful of things, and then roll that character back over into New game Plus, and then be ready for the expansion, or should I just make a new character and do everything from the get-go.

I'm not very gud any longer, I just don't know how much of the game is left in regards to completing it that I have left, and what was just optional stuff that I was going out and exploring.

What did the game come out 2 years ago, I think I played it for maybe 4 months straight, and didn't beat it.

I just don't know waste all of the effort I put into it originally, that makes sense. I'm not as hardcore as a lot of you guys, and if I've got spare time I'd probably be out fishing, but weather is getting hot, and I don't mind spending time in the office playing a video game.

I went and got a larval tear, then redid my stats

got STR up to 40 and dumped the rest into Vigor to get up to 38

I already had the grafted blade greatsword, so i did the ungu bunga with it thing like some people suggested. game is much more enjoyable now. fighting through Caelid at this time

If you didn't clear the capitol you're not even halfway through.

I think I cleared the capital except I didn't go into the boss area. If I remember I explored the entire thing, found the entrance to the sewers, and then work my way up to whatever the face of the erdtree Temple deal is, but didn't go inside.

If you want to reset the game basically, do I just go in there and fight whatever, and then I can trigger A New game Plus?

I just never did it because it seemed like it was such a pivotal area, and I still had so much left of the map to explore.

Is it heresy that I have never played this game, any of the Dark Souls series, nor Bloodborne?

I really wish I understood why these games don't grab me and suck me in like they do a lot of people because I can see that they're objectively fantastic games.

The only conclusion I can come to is that I play games for fun (wow, right?), not achievement, and the masochistic self-flagellation that you have to endure before you 'succeed' sounds terrible. Though, to be fair, given my relative lack of interest I haven't taken an in-depth look at any of these games so I could be wildly off-target.

That said, I have come extremely close to buying Elden Ring.

I prepare my body for your admonishment.

It's not difficult if you overlevel yourself and your gear and your spirit helper. You get access to beastial sanctum very early through a teleport gate and can kill fairly weak enemies there for 1k per. Then in the second area you can do a pretty easy quest to gain access to an endgame location, palace approach ledge, with some weak enemies that give 40k xp per clear. You can level to 100 if you want fairly quickly and nothing will really be a challenge.

That list doesn't sound right.

Limgrave>Linurnia>Siofra River>Caelid>Nokron>Ainsel River>Nokstella>Dragonbarrow>Altus Plateau>Mt.Gelmir>Leyendell>Sewers>Deeproot Depths>Mountaintops of the Giants>Consecrated Snowfield>Moghwyn Palace>Haligtree>Crumbling Farum Azula>Leyendell

Obviously some overlap between these and many can be entered early, but the Rivers and Nok stuff is in a specific order for Ranni's quest.

FromSoft games are challenging and punishing, but I wouldn’t use words like masochistic and self-flagellation. If you’re any good at action games they are not hard games, just somewhat demanding. And they have actual stakes, not just “reload last checkpoint,” which is part of the allure for me at least. Overcoming a worthy challenge is what elevates the fun. Things that are too easy are rarely as fun as something that makes you work a bit.

I recently played through Batman Arkham Asylum, City, and Knight and I yelled at those games way more than I ever did with FS stuff. You can’t expect to beat everything immediately, but you’ll be able to immediately see what you did wrong or ineffectively, and be able to try again with a better plan or whatever.

ER is a genuinely gorgeous and awesome game with many very memorable moments. Some bosses/areas might give you a hard time, but usually you can redirect to a different area and level up while still progressing, if you want.

Elden Ring has a player friendly mechanic, you can summon spirits to help you in fights if you want. Some of them are overpowered.

Elden Ring is my first and only FromSoft game.

Buy it, you are missing out.

It isn't masochistic self-flagellation at all, you will die a lot but there isn't a huge punishment for death - you can try again fairly quickly.

After becoming a tarnished like the rest of us, have you considered playing any of the other games? At least try DS3, as I think that is closest to ER in terms of the boss fights and such, just a smaller inner-connected world to explore.

You have a ton of gameplay and large boss fights left to do.

What exactly does New game Plus do? I don't remember, when is the game much more challenging with it or is it just kind of whatever?

I guess I kind of want to just go through it again and have a new experience, which is why I was asking if I could burn through the last segment of the game quickly, and then start everything out anew, and still have my same character.

Rajaah Rajaah you know about this stuff, what are your thoughts?

If you plan to play the DLC, don’t NG+ yet. It basically levels everything up, and you’re likely to get your ass handed to you even more than you would in the DLC on NG.

Is the the "official" order of what areas to do?

I'm in Caelid right now (just beat Commander O'Neill), I beat everything in Limgrave and most of Liurnia (including Raya Lucaria) but I never did SIofra River or AInsel river

I'd say the two underground zones are probably easier than caelid. Plus Caelid kinda has a difficult spike between the first half and 2nd half
