All of that said, I'm sure SOTE will tell a good story, I just hope it goes in the direction people are hoping for. In other news, in DS3 last night I found Dancer of the Boreal Valley. What an insane boss. Looks like you might be able to fight it right around when you fight Vordt, and skip a large part of the game? That's crazy. I haven't beaten it yet. Not sure if the way forward is through Dancer or through the Irithyll Dungeon. I finished Anor Londo and took down Aldrich, now that was a cool fight. Especially liked how (spoiler alert) the fight takes place in the old ruins of O&S's room.

Godspeed sir, some great boss fights coming up.

No, the spoiler videos didn't do anything besides remind me how interesting Miquella is, especially now that he has minions also looking for him.

The official trailers made a mistake by introducing this new guy and making it all about him, while the playerbase was already invested in finding out what happened to Miquella.
at least play the game before boldly pointing out mistakes in trailer

I want either the thrown knife build or the kung fu weapons in the expac. Probably going throwing weapons first

The l
Really fun game, I've run through several times and gotten all endings, even platinumed it. Fun weapons, cool enemies and bosses. GIVE ME THAT LAMP
The lamp mechanic seems weird and has put me off to the game. That's probably because I don't really know much about what it's for.

The light greatsword looks fucking perfect to me. I love faster weapons, but a lot of the ones in ER have short reach.

Now I just need a super quick bo staff to live out my Donatello fantasies.

Pair that with the Great Turtle Shield on your back and complete the fantasy!

Godspeed sir, some great boss fights coming up.

Checked a list (since the whole game is pretty much spoiled for me already, it's no issue) and it looks like I've beaten 13 of 25 bosses. Also really close to the endgame, have like two zones left I think. Looks like Lothric Castle and Grand Archives. 8 of the remaining are optional I think, so I have four left to "beat the game" if I'm doing the math right.

I probably won't start my new playthrough of ER until after the DLC drops. I had planned to do some kind of lightning build but now I'm tempted to try the light greatsword if I can get an OP build early. Then again ER is so damn long I'd want to try 3+ builds in a playthrough.

It helps to have alternative builds to go against certain bosses anyway. Str/Dex is good because you can do a quality build, fire build, and lighting build without using larval tears, just switch weapons.

Rogier’s death was it for me my first time through. First, he offers up assistance to a total stranger to help kill Margit to get into Stormveil Castle. Then when you actually meet him later on in the chapel, you just knew you’d be besties for life.

Then you find out later that he’s got stage 9 cancer that seemingly advances every time you visit him in RTH And there’s nothing you can do about it to save him.

And if that wasn’t enough, on his deathbed, he leaves you with his only family heirloom. I’m not much of a daggers guy myself but it definitely made me a little emotional to know he felt that strongly about our friendship. Even stronger than his other buddy, D.

RIP Rogier. You will be missed.
Then doesn't Fia summon his ghost against you when you find her in Deeproot Depths?

192 is a mongaloid amount of over leveling to finish the base game right?

My chars are 120s and I only brought 2 up to 150 at one point when it was "the pvp meta". Even 150 felt like a ridiculous amount of grinding to do that through conventional means.

I don't know. I never farmed anything but I cleared every dungeon and almost always fought my way there (instead of running past) so I ended up somewhere around 180 when I finished. I imagine FS veterans probably do a lot of running past mobs, though.

Once you have beaten the game a couple times, don't bother with "conventional means". Its just grinding time. And if you sploit the Caelid dragon early on, thats enough of an initial buff to make you not even desire hitting the Birdfarm for a long ass time. But if you are like me and on your 9th character, fuck it. Get to the birdfarm asap and carefully manage quests to setup the storyline you want to hit up/get poopman summon and just have fun without ever grinding. Get to your stat reqs for whatever toy you are trying out. You get so many runes just running around and killing shit, anyway.

125 is limited on builds though. I don't think you could do a proper 2 skill build there.

If it's a subtle brag it's kinda pointless. People have beaten the game at lvl 1. I did most of it with a lvl 50 cap for pvp. 150 seems to be the meta for 1st playthrough though.

Most one trick builds (read PVE) can beat the game fairly easily at around 120-130. Its mainly double dip builds that need a little more if you are just casually beating the game, mostly combo casters that want two really high stats. There are a fair number of weapon centric builds where just having the bare minimum is plenty (Rykard's, Sword of Night and Flame, MLGS, pre nerf Moonveil, ect). Unga Bunga and lightning probably require the least stat investment to make really strong.

For comparison, I beat the game at the 125ish range with Unga, dual dagger arcane, and Hopalite Faith builds with zero difficulty. As a sorc specialist, you dominate the early game but the game gets a lot tougher for a good stretch (unless you are going MLGS) for a number of specific fights. For pure Sorc and Golden Order runs I think I ended the game in the range Bald Brah is mentioning, but I also did not have a well laid out plan for how to change up for Elden Beast so I did extra grind and beef up for the end.

I have only ever done new game plus with a single character (all casting stats for all spells type) because I find NG++ runs mostly too boring once you get settled into the weapon you plan on running. Honestly being a multicaster is the one path that is fun to NG+ in because you can customize spells to each zone and situation in cool ways from the outset. But I pretty much otherwise just starting fresh with minimal or no twinking. Figuring out "how can I go this build route and be super efficient at getting there" is my second favorite thing about the game. My favorite is that I am still finding hidden shit on my 9th run for the first time.

Yeah think I was around 120ish, maybe 125 when I beat it, then after exploring and killing a lot of missed bosses I leveled a good amount more.

Made it past the Godskin duo at SL1 with the sleep pots and then hadn't gone back to try and get further. Even with dual bleed weapons some of those bosses are ROUGH at lower levels, but a totally different kind of masochistic fun.

Also activated Malenia waypoint but after a few tries I said fuck that.

The pre-DLC toon I made last month finished the game at lvl 141, which was my personal best in terms of lowest level to finish. Certainly nothing earth shattering but was good enough for me. Given that was my 5th or 6th toon through, I skipped a lot of optional stuff and only focused on content that gave what I needed to get ready for the DLC.

Malenia is still up in this run because I simply cannot beat her on my own. My previous toons I always ended up using Tiche to help put her down but I was determined to try her sans summons this time. I’m probably 50+ attempts in and have managed to get her to phase 2 a whopping two times.

Not sure what pisses me off more: that GD bullshit, waterfowl move or my inability after all this time to be better at avoiding it.

My problem is after she gets to 75% and does the first one, I am literally CONSTANTLY expecting her to do it everytime I attack her.

Definitely makes getting her health down quickly much harder, but everytime I try and yolo a ton of damage, out comes the fucking water fowl to ruin my shit. Glad I was able to kill her after like 100+ tries, but yeah that makes the fight a lot more frustrating than it needed to be.
