I probably won't start my new playthrough of ER until after the DLC drops. I had planned to do some kind of lightning build but now I'm tempted to try the light greatsword if I can get an OP build early. Then again ER is so damn long I'd want to try 3+ builds in a playthrough.
I'm assuming the light greatsword is only available in the DLC areas though, no?

Or you're saying you're doing a melee build with plans to swap once you get to the DLC areas?

192 is a mongaloid amount of over leveling to finish the base game right?

My chars are 120s and I only brought 2 up to 150 at one point when it was "the pvp meta". Even 150 felt like a ridiculous amount of grinding to do that through conventional means.
Normally 125 to 150 is considered the normal range to finish the game. Particularly if you are doing the extra bosses. If not it could be a lot less. I tend to do all the dungeons and alternate bosses on every single play through though.

The pre-DLC toon I made last month finished the game at lvl 141, which was my personal best in terms of lowest level to finish. Certainly nothing earth shattering but was good enough for me. Given that was my 5th or 6th toon through, I skipped a lot of optional stuff and only focused on content that gave what I needed to get ready for the DLC.

Malenia is still up in this run because I simply cannot beat her on my own. My previous toons I always ended up using Tiche to help put her down but I was determined to try her sans summons this time. I’m probably 50+ attempts in and have managed to get her to phase 2 a whopping two times.

Not sure what pisses me off more: that GD bullshit, waterfowl move or my inability after all this time to be better at avoiding it.
I think my cheese sorcerer is the only time I've solo'd her. I use an ash every other time because it's just a lot damn faster and less annoying.

Frost pots will cancel the waterfowl dance by the way. I never bothered to use it much as I suck at the timing.

Yeah who knows. If they offer low level build options I'll be tempted to take them.

Add me to the pile who finished the game at 150-170, IIRC.

Checked my file and I currently have a level 275 beast-mode character near the end of the game. Anyone know if there's a way to see what NG+ cycle you're on without beating the final boss? Cause I think I'm on NG++ but it might be NG+++. Whichever it is, I couldn't beat the Elden Beast even at 275. Or I just didn't try very hard because I was pretty much done with that file by then anyway and don't like that fight.

Guessing that the DLC with an NG++ character is a bad idea. Still going to likely start a new one before that and aim for like level 150 on NG for the DLC.

Decided last night to start a new toon with and try Dex this time. Started a samurai , got to the lands proper and realized it has been well over a year since I played ER. I couldn't remember how to even level a stat. Had to google that , lol. Well, I'd just played Sekiro and started DS1 so I was still fresh with the play mechanics. Or so I thought. The tree guardian (or whatever the guy on the horse's name is) pushed all my shit in and stomped it into the ground like fertilizer. My wife asked why I was laughing so hard. Gotta get gud again (tm)

You do realize they put difficult enemies in odd places? Some you are meant to come back to. Tree Sentinal and the Night time horsemen should be done after you're all done with Limgrave. After Godrick.

I respect the git gud no hit autists for what they are, but they enjoy the game in a way that I never would. Not going to bang my head against some dude for hours to perfect his moveset so I can "no hit" him. I beat every boss without ashes and thats my claim to a challenging completion, and I had fun

If anyone needs extra items, runes, armor... anything for starting characters I'd be more than happy to drop them to you boys.

I salute your stance but there’s a world of pain trying to ace those twin night’s cavalry on the consecrated snowfield as an unga bunga.

I know, it was more just him telling people how to play ER. I think the main reason I find it to so compelling is that you can choose to do whatever, whenever and how difficult it will be. I beat the some of the Nights Cavalry pretty early by just using Torrent really effectively and timing my moves. Same thing with the tree spirits. Being passive is about the only thing that will make this game boring and unfun.

Tree spirits are easy once you get the red hot wetblade and can add a fire weapon art to your weapon. Instant double damage. Or just cheese Rikard with that special spear and get the ridiculous flaming remembrance sword.

I just fought Radhan at lvl 70. Wasn't going to cheese him but after 10 deaths I just let the festival peeps cheese him down. That bastard does instadeath fireballs at 50 and 25% now? I thought he only did it once?

Started my new run before xpac drops. Wanted to finish what I didn't have in my first one but forgot exactly what I did so just doing a 100% run from scratch doing int/dex as I did all faith with str weapons last run. I was afraid the game would just be too big for another but I'm not getting that feeling at all. Definitely a true masterwork game.

it was more me not realizing how much I'd forgotten. I'm trying to summon the horse, but no horse (didn't go far enough) then I'm like fuck it I'll just dodge around and hit it from the back. which did work for 1.4 seconds. I had really good fun even though I was totally smashed. Fuck it, going into ER and getting butt hurt about dying is not a good recipe for success.

for the record I (was late to the party but) beat ER a year ago. Didn't start NG+ though. If you peek at the health issues forum you'll see I had other priorities.

120-130 was a full clear for me.

I am really hoping some of the new weapons mentioned like unlimited throwing perfumes and weapons type make it to the old world during release. So one can start from scratch with the so many on the offer

perhaps they may indeed be available via merchants in the old world.
