1) Erudites will be in-game and

2) They will be sub-Saharan African w/ elongated forehead in appearance or EQ2 Alien in appearance?
There will be humans, and you'll be able to make them black and elongate the forehead with a slider.

Do you guys think

1) Erudites will be in-game and

2) They will be sub-Saharan African w/ elongated forehead in appearance or EQ2 Alien in appearance?
I think unlikely at launch, based on game-timeframe of pre-Qeynos. The Erudites were the Qeynosian scholars, they left Qeynos to establish Erudin on Odus.

That said, they do still need to scale pauldrons down, but that's my only real complaint with the art right now.
No....

My bet would be that both barbarians and erudites will be human cultures, rather than different races. Barbarians will be an old human culture that will peel off of Qeynos and head north to build Halas. As for the erudites, we may actually see the birth of the erudite movement occur in game, with Erud going around gathering mages, then sailing west to found Erudin. As a callback to the EQ1 erudites, Erud and his core disciples will probably be black.

Rumor:

"Mike McMurray ?@MurZerker 1m

Anyone have a source for the #EQNext PvP rumor circulating? Lead dev mentions full PvP is certainty in an interview? Source, I need one...

Were the Vah Shir such a popular race in EQ that people were clamoring for a new cat race?

I'm really confused as to why they chose that to be at least one of the first two races rendered for the game, and why it served as essentially the mascot of EQN in the reveal.
Kerran was their Tauren equivalent from when the game was going to be a WoW Clone, that's why 10feet tall and omgshoulderpads. Obviously they're reusing all art assets/animations from earlier iterations of the game cus they have like nothing else done.

"full PVP"

That's so vague. Item loot, FFA (or even RvR) PvP would certainly get me on the bandwagon though.
rally call/live lore based RvR would be nuts. Suddenly it's everyone versus the Dark Elves for 3 weeks, then it's FFA for a month. Now we all get along for 2 months, then oh shit it's everyone taking on the Ogres and burning their city to the ground. If we fail the Ogre slaughter, the Dark Elves betray the alliance and then its a civil war with the Dark Elves & Ogres on one side, and the rest of us on the other.

Georgeson's initial reveal & presentation deliberately focused on EQNs intent to step away from the D&D model, which they've seemingly done based on what we know.

Interestingly though, the idea of Rallying Calls... isn't that the most D&D-style (not in a bad way) game function that there is? They've created a way to allow for a creative "Dungeon Master" in an MMO.

It depends on whether the outcome of a Rally Call is durable. If victory conditions aren't persistent (or the "correct" condition is inevitable), then they're just large public quests in similar vein to what we've seen before.

Rally Calls are supposed to be one time events that sorta move the story forward; so yeah, they're durable, unless a future Rally Call, say, results in a city we built previously being destroyed, but it's not like the Call reverts to a zero state after a timer counts down, or anything.

This is the case.

both of you are leaping to the conclusion that all rally calls are equal. There will clearly be non-durable rally calls, i mean that's obvious.

I'm not sure casuals are any more interested in lore. I think the main difference between casuals and hardcore players is that the hardcores tend to care a lot more about challenge and competition with other players. I mean, everyone wants to get all the loot, see all the stuff and hang out with their friends/guild. It's just that the casuals will enjoy it more if they can do that without wiping too much and having to learn overly complex strategies. And as long as they get to do this they couldn't care less about competing with other guilds or who gets a world first. We might call this entitlement. However, it might be better if the rewards for being hardcore were mostly limited to stuff that casuals don't care about. Not sure what would work, maybe more visible rankings. NPCs talking about the accomplishments of players. Player names could be used as part of item names. Statues of successful players in capitals. Memorials for server first kills in-game.
The only reason casuals dont care about lore is because it does not affect their getting epic gears, when your deity and origin matter to how npcs treat you then lore matters. Right now zero new games have deity, racial and actual choices affecting their class design.

What are they attempting to expand upon at Gamescon and PAX? That's relatively soon and Georgeson said there would be new stuff at each. Are they not release the Combat doc as well prior to those events?

You could literally choose any aspect of MMO game design and they could expand on any of them because they haven't given concrete details about anything other than number of classes.
