Sure, a person in his position should probably be more straightforward and not be so sarcastic, it does make him seem a bit smug, but from what I see, mostly everyone does agree with his position on the topic.

The one thing I do get out of it is he implies the 2nd,3rd,nth tier guilds/players for some reason CAN'T have fun with the same content? There must be a serious flaw with the content then if the only fun is by "being first". I know in original EQ the 3rd,4th,nth tier guilds bragged just as much as the 1st & 2nd tier guilds when they accomplished new content.

Anyway, I don't see why it's such a big deal.

From the responses to the poll i get the impression that people are confused about what is meant by "contested."

Everyone is seemingly convinced they're referring to PvP... to me they're referring to basically non-instanced combat in it's entirety.

I thought Butler was more that guy from the get go. Ponytail can't hold a candle to this guy's smug factor. Really hasn't bothered me personally, I think Jeff and the negative reactions he draws from the crowd are rather entertaining. Iwouldslap the paisley off his shirt collars though.

That's what I took from it as well.

I think it wil be interesting to see how they strike the right balance on stuff like this, considering they've already talked about how 'when you kill something, it dies (and doesn't come back).'

I don't think pony tail is such a bad guy. He was one of the head guys (if not the head guy himself?) on both Tribes 2 and PlanetSide 1 - good games, imo. He seems to really care about EverQuest and the franchise in general. He's probably also one of the guys pushing for some PVP in EQN.

On the other hand, Butler is just a giant man child. Not someone I'd wanna talk to ever.

Massively in favor of contested content in one form or another. When EQN ships with only limited contested content this will show how totally BS the Roundtable was.

In EQNRT your vote counts, just as long as you're voting the same way as Butler. ;-)

I don't even know what the benefit of the RT is at this point. What purpose does it serve? What can they possibly achieve from it? They're just setting themselves up for grief down the road.

I don't know. He doesn't not say EQN/L had layoffs - just that development on them is continuing. If they're doing a company wide restructuring (and they appear to be doing just that) you'd think they'd fire one or two from EQN/L as well.

Maybe FTP isn't working as well as they thought and we can get a sub based model for EQN?
