Will see. Unless its something weird like vaniki or miragul, it will pull a decent chunk at least for a month or two. Lots treat these servers as krono making ventures, aka work, instead of a video game and a new server is always good for that in its early days. Then there are the weirdos that love to just do classic > pop over and over and over.

I'm just happy I can buy some new 40/42 slot bags.

It's usually been late march-ish, teek/tormax was april 4th, so it could be anytime in the next few weeks

Can't imagine what kind of server would be compelling enough to pull people in now though, there aren't very many ideas left outside of what; pvp and selos 2.0?
They can always bust their load at double loot, random loot, double exp, two box allowed, classic start with 30 day expansions or something similar. Exactly what I wanted them to do with the last one.

Course, I still think they could go for the ultra fkn weird shit like removing race/class restrictions on everything and seeing how people meta game their class. A true Hero's Journey type of system. A warrior using a Shaman Epic for its clicky etc.

Teek was so incredibly sweaty for 5-6 months that burnout could impact the launch. Vaniki/Yelinak numbers were meh. Oakwynd was alright at the start but collapsed in Luclin after the dupes and issues with mirror experience not working. Recyclers exist as do krono lords but I'm not optimistic about the future. I think we're going to immedatiately correct to the decline that was occuring in the launches of prior years.

Well I mean the dupe kind of took the legs out of Mischief from what I remember. It did for me. Like you couldnt reasonably farm anything to sell to get ahead. Then, before Kunark was even in full swing on the next server - the dupe that had supposedly been fixed, raised its head AGAIN.... So people said fuck it, Ill just buy the gah'damn Krono so I can get ahead.... AND WHAT HAPPENED? The company deletes the fucking krono you bought. So instead of 10 krono, now you have 6 krono. Great. OR - people that obviously arent cheating getting banned because their "NEW" system is flagging everything under the sun that it doesnt recognize. So a huge chunk of the population is just eating fucking 7 days for no explainable reason other than "you're cheating." Right. Im sure little Timmy in Gfay is warping 2 foot intervals. Trash fucking system that they ignored complaints about.

I mean, thats the summary of why most people I know quit. Then, when they quit - the people that were playing because of those people quit. I'm just saying, we cant blame this type of shit on the ruleset or the age of the game. A ton of which just up and said "Ill play something else, but Im not wasting my time with that company anymore." I'll at least give them a chance, but I completely understand the wear and tear of how they've reacted and responded to all the cheating and dupes. Especially during THESE servers, where they had tons of people come back to play the game that havent touched it in years - myself included.

Oh, hell. I almost forgot! The fucking anniversary tower. Where it invalidated fucking half if not MORE of your gear for months at a time. Why the fuck do I want to go kill this fucking Dragon when everything it drops is WORSE than tower gear? Who the fuck thought that would be a smart idea to release in a fucking TLP. Fucking idiots.

The cheats/dupes were brutal and the disappearing krono was brutal. That kind of shit is a much larger problem than burnout. Once people just don't trust you and aren't willing to play pretend any longer they're not likely to return.

"Hey, we're all playing EQ again! You should roll something!"
"No thanks, I'm still missing krono from last time"

Good luck getting that guy back.

They need to up the exp rates at this point. Trying to lure people back in again to do the lguk grind for the 30th time isnt exciting.

I don't see it happening. Unless its something like selo again, where the cadence of expansions requires a boost in exp to keep up. Otherwise they want to sell exp pots.

Also I can see all the PL'ers lobbying hard against it with w/e excuse they can use. And there are armies of them, people playing 20+ characters that all count as subs.

As much as I wished it would happen.

This is the correct answer. XP rates remain what they are because of the insane amounts of money they make off XP potions and by extension the PL crews.

People as individual players are still valuable, but only in the sense that there has to be someone on the server to consume the services of the box crews/buy their items/buy XP potions etc. The ratio of bots/boxes to real players can get pretty fractional, but there does still need to be a base of regular boomers to consume things.

Teek is reaching the point where the normal human player base is getting too small to support the industrial scale farming/PLing that people have set up, but I'm dubious if they'll be able to convince the gamer dads to roll on yet another new server with 0 work put in to it again.

Yeah, but it will not matter when the PL crews have nobody to PL. The company fucked up pretty bad when they actually took Krono. I have not touched the game since. It would take a super drastic crazy fun rule set for me to come back at this point. Just another standard TLP.....Fuck Off and die in a server fire.

I actually think that if the next TLP is not something phenomenal, it will only attract the hardcore and then just die off in 3-4 months.

Their customer relations is on par with the democratic party.

I’m thankfully not into any of the krono bullshit, outside of just making enough to pay for my accounts every month, but I can’t think of a rule set currently that would pull me off Teek. Just hope it keeps up for a long time, as I’d like to see all the content I missed past DoDH.

Yeah you actually have missed the best expansions starting with SoD and ending with Rain of Fear. House of Thule, in my mind being the very best. After RoF the expansions get kind of repetitive and formulaic.

That's why Teek's cool right now. Big bonus leading into a global bonus that's permanent from then on. I definitely can't go back to classic exp rates and do all of that Kunark-era crap again any time soon, if ever.

It's got appeal to people hovering currently: Instead of going to the next TLP and being back at square one with slow-ass exp, come back to Teek and enjoy the higher exp rate and see some zones and expansions that you might have never seen before.

More or less agree, except I'd start the "golden era" with TSS.

TSS is basically a reset of the game (new, better leveling zones for most of 1-70) for people to consolidate into, which helps a lot. Plus it introduces tons of new quests, spell tiers (merchant/group drop/raid drop), and some just plain good-looking and fun zones to run around in. A ton of effort went into TSS and it shows. Then you've got TBS which is basically just Solteris, but it has some cool mid-level group content for people still hanging out in that space. Then SoF through RoF which are six extremely solid expansions in a row. I'd say SoF is the best followed by HoT.

After RoF (level 100) the expansions get super-formulaic and some of them are very low-effort, with a few bright spots like The Burning Lands (110).

It's unfortunate that most people drop off before TSS+, either during the overlong 65 period or the overlong 70 period. Expansion consolidations are desperately-needed, particularly DoDH+PoR.

I think we're going to see a Firiona Vie TLP (Free Trade, otherwise normal loot) with Encounter Locking like Oakwynd, Relaxed Truebox beginning in Omens.

So a crappy TLP repeating what has been done already.

Yeah that will not get players to abandon Teek nor will it bring anybody else back into the game. I said phenomenal, not a rehash of what has been done.

As an example, FV rulset for loot is a start. Triple the XP rate and add in Mercenaries. Start it at Omens is also a nice idea as the old stuff is just old now. Remove all Keying requirements. Let people just enjoy the raids without the boring aspect of getting there. Instead of random loot random the amount that can drop or create an even better random system that allows for any named mob to drop any potential kind of loot but at obvious low chances in appropriate ways.

The Heroes Journey showed what was possible with crazy ideas. Something along those lines would also make it more interesting.

For me, otherwise it is just a hard pass as I am been there and done that....a few times now.

That’s just my best guess. Tormax showed them the vanilla experience is not what players want right now, but they’ll be hesitant to do Mischief 3.0 so soon. The FV server lets them get the big free trade economic rush, plus the hardcore boomers who won’t play Mischief because it has the word “random” in it.

I think we could see a PvP server too. It’s gotta happen eventually.

I would guess the rules have been leaked already but the people who get that info will keep it within a tight circle of trust.

The only reason tormax did so poorly was it was next to teek. If they do another boring classic server, it'll be 100x more popular than tormax. They 100% should still put out a classic boring server. The 2nd server just needs to be more unique like vaniki was so it doesn't take away from the boring classic server like teek did. Teek was what everyone was waiting years for...that's why tormax failed so miserably.

Some people on Teek really got soured on the loot later on and long more for a FV type server. I could definitely see that happening. If they do a vanilla server this iteration, even as the 2nd server, they've lost their goddamn minds.
