EQemu - Nagafen's Lair (Reborn)

Should be solid. You get a War merc (bot actually) to start with. You can later quest for other class bots. You can basically play as 1 toon with bots that you need to fully gear out to maximize their effectiveness. From what I am told, you can do 98% of the content with you and your bots. The very top end needs some grouping.

Only @SirJames could answer that. I know he was talking with Control last week about moving the hosting over to him. Not sure if that is what is currently going on or what.

Heya, not sure what SirJames's plan with the downtime is, but I was working with him to get hosting swapped over. It's not quite sorted out on my end, but it hopefully will be soon.

It's just such a shame that every time this server breaks peak record, there is some big drama. NL was starting to hit consistent 60+ players online (mindful of 3 box limit). Progression mobs were starting to get competitive again and constantly hearing people waiting for spawns. Hopefully this downtime / merge doesn't affect population again.

Seriously this. The Maze bullshit was what caused me to quit the first time and I had really been enjoying myself the past week or two, but it's tiring dealing with yet another hiccup.

I started on VoG and while I think it has a lot of great QoL aspects over NL, it just doesn't feel the same. Maybe I picked a horrible 4-box from a DPS standpoint(SK, Rog, Bard, Cleric), but everything about the server seems way more difficult than necessary. Mobs seemingly take forever to kill and hit hard as hell, making dungeon runs and EXPing take much longer than I expected or was prepared for, compared to NL. OOC regen is also a lot slower. And I don't know if it was the boosted stats on items, larger nerfs to mob HP pools, or what, but NL definitely felt like a "smoother", less chore-like experience.

So, while VoG still helps scratch the EQ itch, it definitely leaves me wanting NL back.

Not sure if SirJames meant to bring the old server back up or not, but I have NL installed on a new server from his latest backups. I basically just got it installed and need to go to bed, so feel free to tinker around on it but consider it VERY experimental at the moment. The quest npcs in the noob zone don't respond, and there are probably lots of other issues. I'll tinker with it more tomorrow night and hopefully get things in better shape.

I almost hate to leave it up, but I figure you'd rather be able to poke it than not, so long as you're forewarned.

You definitely want a slower for anything named, and I haven't played a bard enough to know how their slow stacks up. Also note that there are haste pots on the potion vendor in PoK which can make a pretty huge difference for a melee heavy group.

Are you trying to bring NL up on the latest PEQ? Because NL was built with a much older code. You can ask @MazeEq and @Secrets what kind of mess that caused when they tried to upgrade NL to the latest PEQ. It was so broken, they basically had to roll the whole server back a few days and scrap the idea. I think you are in for a world of hurt with bugs and re-tuning if that was your intended course of action.

Raid server is fun, can boost to level 100 for the next 5 days so get in on that if you don't want to grind the levels as there is plenty more to do.

NL is running great. About 30 online and I think it's more smooth than it was under Sail's hosting. Able to swarm the balls out of Droga - doing numbers that would have otherwise crashed my machine.

Nope, not updating anything, just reinstalling as per SirJames instructions.

I guess he got the proper server back up though. The one tagged experimental is the one I'm trying to get sorted out.

I've sorted out a few issues on the experimental version, though I know some things are still wonky. Feel free to give it a poke.

Ok, I "think" everything is sorted out now on the experimental version. Unless someone points out any issues, this is the version that will be live whenever @SirJames want to officially change things over.

A friend of mine and I are looking for a good eq experience after dealing with the daybreak bs on phinigel. I've been trying to parse through the thread to see if the server still has a future or not. Should we roll here or is vog a better option for the dad server experience

Leveling guide: short guide I wrote, that explains the quest in detail.

Dad experience here is pretty great. Leveling new toons here once you already have 65's is also really easy. They let you pass all of your quest achievement to a new toon once per account, and you can get extended duration level 65 buffs on level 1 characters if you're grouped with a 65.

I've been screwing around trying to optimize a 3 box combo that I think can tackle PoP solo.

Best I've got right now is either Pal, Bard, BST, or Pal, Wiz, BST. Beastlords here are just batshit insane. My pet with self buffs quads for 475, has crazy attack speed and procs 150DD's basically every swing. Pair that with 65% slow, a heal, some decent dots and melee damage, and he's just an absolute wagon. Pally has retarded survivability and self heals, especially with the Hopebringer Jysin gave me from PoP (thanks!). Last slot is either bard (gives me 500 resist all, overhaste and crazy regen) or Wiz (awesome utility and DPS; can bind-cheese encounters and insta-evac if an engagement goes south).

Having a lot of fun here. Everyone is really helpful and the pop seems to be up in the 30s/40s on a pretty regular basis. About to start VT tomorrow; just finished keys and making a necro to get the essence emeralds in. Can't wait to try my hand in the stuff that's generally considered to be 6+ man content.

Sweet that sounds awesome. I think we'll give this a whirl for the next while, before poe season starts (and after it gets boring and we put it down we can come back)

Where did you guys get a working macroquest2 build for this server? I went to mqemulator.net and downloaded the RoF2 classic build, did I pick the wrong one?
