On Survival mode, they are murder machines. Three mini-nukes and it was still fighting.

...I wonder if they can be Legendary. Oh lawd.
they can. ran across a level 26 one just northwest of greentop, at level 14.
I actually got pretty close... sniper lazer rifle. hit and run. dragged it into the pack of super mutants just north of the road..
did give up eventually though.

but with some planning. power armor, mines, rocket launcher and/or fatboy etc. probably could take it.

Preston feels so useless. I was using Cogsworth, who was amazing, but it said he Idolized me and I got a perk, so decided to use another(does rep cap @ idolize?), but Preston just dies so quick, does no damage etc.

Also Question:
General Atomics Galleria: I got the password for the terminal in the bowling alley and the password from that for the terminal behind the Director, but I cannot find the I.D anywhere(using the terminal behind him does nothing, since it says DMS(Director) is working fine so override controls are disabled). I just want to know if its in that area or something I get later from somewhere else and go back to finish.

Codsworth is a monster. He does massive amounts of damage compared to the other companions I have recruited...
Piper, Nick, Dogmeat, and the Minuteman guy.

I couldn't find the ID either. I completed it via having high enough charisma and convincing the robot I was the supervisor

companion question:
I'm trying to improve rep with macready who doesn't like it when you do nice things. He likes it when I steal/pick owned locks but it's really slow. Any ideas on how to improve his rep quickly?

Oh god. I had a legendary one spawn at the National Guard training place... right after fighting 5 legendary ghouls inside (one of which was a Glowing One that kept resurrecting other ghouls).

I had almost no ammo left after all that shit.

Just found my first legendary mob that didn't have a legendary item (legendary feral ghoul reaver). Its loot was different the three times I killed it, but all trash.
I killed a legendary at one place and it didn't drop any loot....

Yeah, I have 1 Charisma(which is interesting without local leader, probably something I boost later). Guess I will just see if I get it later or something.

Edit: Nvm I just put on as much cha gear as I had in storage and bullshit through it :p

They're limited with it too. Not to be too hyperbolic but after playing 30h~ as a charisma character I feel like I wasted the stat points and they soft removed the archtype from the game, had an impactful dialogue literally twice in that whole playtime.

It's by far my biggest criticism that the game is much more combat focused, pacifist and diplomatic options are all but non existent
I've come to the same conclusion. I didn't intend for it to workout as a cha run, but I fell into as the General and establishing supply lines. Aside from triggering a companion romance for the experience buff being 10+ charisma does next to nothing for questing and game mechanics aside from the settlements. Every dialogue choice is just a random detail + bonus experience and open world's encounters only care if you're sneak is higher and your flashlight is off. Looks like the only runs are brute force, shooter, and sneaky. Hacker army isn't viable, charisma isn't viable, assuming animal army isn't especially viable?

I'm only level 8 but I've been investing in CHA to get Local Leader. I take it that sucks?

No, local leader is freaking manditory imo. Don't believe people who misuse the word viable.

There is no level cap in this game, there is only one build just different journeys to 100%

I found an assaultron you could tell to go to different military spots to attack. I sent it to a place full of Super Mutants...it got rushed by like 4 jihad mutants and ended up dying, but it took out half the mutants ;p I sniped the rest with my .308 rifle.

Doesn't charisma have all those "point gun and chance to pacify" perks? And later ranks you "charm" them in a sense and can send them to attack. Does none of that work?

Stagger effect research. Works on humanoids and animals. Even raiders in power armor. And synths... Not really protectrons though.

Stagger can also knockdown enemies on occasion.

On 10MM with expanded magazine and quick reload vs any bullet sponge will guaranteed trigger in one magazine of shots. So when combined with PsychoJet you can kill pretty much anything that a 10MM could reasonably kill.

Sidenote: Pip Boy and Map data on settlements is often stale or just completely inaccurate. No idea why.

Like others have said. You NEED local leader for base management to not be total AIDS. Get it as soon as you start accumulating settlements.

Yeah i'm doing it atm with no local leader, it's kinda annoying ferrying around supplies. It's not too bad with fast travel(and I get to harvest crops every time for adhesive) and usually I just need the odd-ball stuff(oil, gears, circuits etc) for defense/power. Hopefully I will eventually get it, but so many perks to get instead of putting points into cha.

More then anything I miss out on a lot of the settler stuff without it(like shops), same with having no int :p

If the game didn't have fast travel it would 100% be required.

Next character I think I am going to go a lot of science + guns + power armor.

i bought a ps4 just to play this shit. needless to say, i'm not disappointed. i was worried it would be riddled with bugs, but i waited 4-5 days prior to buying the uncharted/free F4 bundle from bestbuy. too rich not to, too poor to outfit a $2000 rig to make it work with console commands. having a blast on ps4. no bugs thus far. the game is what i hoped for and more.

as much time as i spend looking at every shelf and every can of abraxo cleaner/bourbon/yum-yum deviled eggs, i wonder if i shouldn't have just started on survival mode. you can't drink the water, but you can always drink the bourbon (and get hooked).

20hours/1,500hours in. looking forward to it
