Kate Mara is the only casting choice that's not WTF in some way. She's attractive enough and unlike Alba she has more acting ability than a wooden plank.

Mara was okay in The Shooter (the only thing I can remember her in) but I've never thought of her as super hot. Alba wasn't bad in Sin City, but yeah in FF she was her usual self.

She's a comic book character, they can make her anything they want. She knocked out Hulk at some point or other, or maybe it was She-Hulk....or both. Since her power is invisible shields they can basically make her do anything. She's blinded whole groups of people by making their optic nerves invisible.

The other is loud and impulsive. And these characters need to relate to a semi retarded audience in some way. Given this, how is human torch = black, reed = white not a rational choice for a movie studio?

That's pretty bizarre if it's true. FOX has to get a Fantastic Four movie out in 2015 or they lose the rights. This would mean them having to start from square one, which doesn't really give them much pre-production time, particularly if they are going to have to start casting again. I wonder if FOX didn't get the reaction they were expecting when they announced the cast, because I'm not sure what else would make them decide to throw everything out and start over this late in the process.
