Was thinking about how much I'm going to be willing to spend on Orlandu which got me thinking about team comps. For harder content I use noctis, refia, cecil, cod, rain. Where does another dps fit in?

You could replace Rain with a dps and use Noctis to break, but he needs two turns to get it done. Would the 6* WoL replace Cecil and my breaker freeing up another dps spot?

CoD could be replaced if I had the duel casts for refia and cecil so they could heal and buff if needed. Why bother with that though it would only make the fight last a few turns less.

I only run hero rings on Noctis atm with muscle belts on everyone else because not dying is the most important factor for what content I've seen in my month and a half playing.

I could easily run Noctis, Chizuru x2 or even Chizuru x3. I don't have the TMs atm to make the Chizuru train happen yet but they will come in time.

Also considering rewards based from doing objectives during the boss fight seem like a thing surviving easier seems better than trying to dps the boss dead asap.

tl,dr: I have a meta comp why do I need more units?

most of the time, you don't bother with break. You don't use it in arena, you don't use it in every event. getting gilg's glove finished will be a huge dps boost for you. not having a dual wield melee character is really holding you back. once you get his glove, you see a huge improvement. all other TMs will have far less of an impact. Getting dual cast on refia is pretty huge as well, but second to the glove.

For now you don't. The first really difficult content in the pipeline, Gilgamesh, is an execution fight, not a dps check. You won't need Rain for very long because almost all difficult content in the future will be fully immune to def/spr breaks, not just resistant. Technically with the release of Seven, but realistically with the release of Orlandu, DPS is shifting to revolve around imperils and elemental damage.

But power creep will see you replacing units pretty quickly once we get into spring and early summer. GL Noctis is trash tier by current JP standards, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up cutting him from my regular lineup within a couple months.

Well, Altema's ratings are terrible, almost as bad as the GL wiki. That being said, yes, JP Noctis is top tier...but I was referring to the castrated GL version of Noctis.

They don't, only Noctis does. Most of it is because he is heavily reliant on combo tech that doesn't exist in the GL client yet, but Gumi also nerfed him across the board.

Think you have me confused with Vinen. My Noctis is 750+ atm, should go over 800 when these TMs finish. Point taken about the break in events, I thought they was just a thing you had to do for major bosses.

I get the power creep aspect of the game. I thought lightening was serious business a month ago now I never bring them along with me. Noctis will have the same fate aswell. I'm just trying to get a handle on how to value the big meta changes because I'm not about to drop money every banner. On the other hand Tactics was one my favorite games and I certainly want him.

A typical optimized team will be something like:

Healer -- DC Refia is by far the best until Tilith
Tank -- WoL 6* is best due to slot efficiency (he also handles breaks), Cecil's great too
Elemental Debuffer -- Orlandu (holy) or Garland (dark) are two of the best and soonest
Chain builder #1 -- Orlandu's great here, but other units can do it too like Chizuru, Gilgamesh, etc
Chain builder #2 -- see above, usually you want duplicates for perfect chain building
Chain finisher -- Any heavy hitter is fine here. Gilgamesh, Noctis, etc.

Some units can fill multiple roles, like Orlandu, which frees up more slots for big finishers, or even more chain builders.

Is there -any- decent way to farm LB? My Cecil is 5* and I have fusion shit to almost max him so I can take him to 6*.

Really annoying how they made it easier to level LB at lower ranks.

As a side note. I've had retarded pulls. Have 5 Luka right now. Pulled 3 in 5 pulls when I got drunk tonight and started blowing tickets for fun. (Also have 5 Vanille right now too... Guess I should get her TM it looks good for how cheap it will be to obtain with a full party of her.)

Well, that was unexpected. Did another daily pull hoping for Xiao and got Yun instead. I guess at some point I'll be able to set up one hell of a Firion.

obtain a source of auto-limit (CoD or Jack's TM)
equip your unit with a fire elemental weapon and auto-regen
go into battle against rank 1 Ifrit, turn on auto-battle and go to sleep
wake up the next day with lots of limit experience
finish the fight using a non-fire attack

Xiaos tm goes to Firion after he gets his 6* awakening here soon. After this batch of TMs I'm going to go for a badass Firion since I have most of the TMs for it

Yes, that fist is pretty awesome. If you have 6, I'd probably get 3 of the fists (2x three times in a rotation). Though I'm a hoarder. Tempted to slot in two Ludmille's to finish of my second (and last) DualCast for PCecil.

Something to consider is that Jack's TM stacks, so if you have multiple, you may want to farm at least 4 instead of fusing them all.

Automatically generating 8 crystals per turn instead of 2 per turn will max out someones LB much faster, and opens up the door to cheese tactics like infinite Rikku LB.

Ah, finally finished Dual Wield, my new Companion is my 733 atk Noctis. Still need to finish Chizuru. Poor Lightning down to 546 atk. Can swap out any of my units now if needed. Noctis/Lightning/Elza etc
