I'm half looking forward to the Gilgamesh Trial and half scared of it. My initial thoughts are Refia, Cecil, Noctis, Rain and Mercedes. I think I screwed up and accidentally sold my Trident so that's one less source of water damage. Noctis will go full damage with Excalibur for Light. Rain will have an Air Knife and use Lava Floor knocking out 3 elements. And unless I'm willing to risk the water attack I pretty much have to use Mercedes. That means no Support unit like Ling.

It sucks looking at my 5 star level 45 Gilgamesh but there's no content I need him for just yet. I'll get him maxed out this weekend assuming we get the Type Zero part 2 Mog event. He still needs a lot of TMs to really bring him up to speed but I'll feel better when he's capped. At least the TMs I was working on for Chizuru can be swapped over to him (DW and Blade Mastery). Once Power of Creation finishes up for Noctis I'll start Leon's. Seems like a no brainer for Gilgamesh. Genji Glove is being worked on now but at 6% it's going to be awhile.

It's not that difficult, but it's miles and miles ahead of the previous trials and signifies the first major increase in difficulty for FFBE. Gilgamesh has multiple elemental attacks that you can 'seal' for a turn by hitting him with the corresponding element. He also has three powerful threshold attacks, and a very high defense, so it's a fairly long drawn out fight where you can't make any major mistakes (since GL doesn't have any of the characters that will let you power through a major mistake).

the real 'difficulty' is in accomplishing the achievements. You get his katana just for completing the trial, but you have to finish him with a limit burst to get the moogle, with only 5 people for the 30% atk materia, and without using items for the dispel attack materia, although obviously you don't have to do all of them in a single run.

It's hard. It's the first, legitimately, difficult fight we've had that you can't simply steamroll with whales out units.

He has a ton of hit points and stats. He also has a move set that can demolish you. The gimmick is that his most dangerous moves are elemental in nature but they can be sealed by using that element against him. The elements are Fire, Earth, Water, Air and Water. So if you hit him with a Fire ability or weapon with fire damage you seal his Demon Blade attack for that turn.

So the difficulty comes from building a team that can survive his normal attacks, seal his most dangerous attacks and still do enough damage to kill him. And at 1 million HP and high defensive stats you are in for a long fight.

And I didn't even get into his HP thresholds where he uses special moves that dispel and instant KO people.

Just need to finish a Bracer (I guess I will finish Luneth TM first) and my Gilg will have the best gear I can supply him with. Will get Blade Mastery within the hour.

Feels bad seeing the potential TMs I've missed out on with limited units. (and the helm with ATK. Using Barbute feels ghetto...)

Anyone got suggestions? (Working on M.Fina, Marie, Leon, Luneth and Chizuru (@99%))

I have a shit load of units so assuming it's not 5* or Snow I prob have it. Only pulled one Chiz so far -__-. Tons of Vanille and Hope.

Weapons: Excalibur/Sakura
Helm: Barbute
Armor: Demon Mail
Acc1: Genji Glove
Acc2: Bracer or Celestial Glove
Ability 1: Blade Mastery
Ability 2: ATK+15%
Ability 3: ATK+10%
Ability 4: ATK+10%

Does anyone know if Trial of the Creator will come back with the next Brave Frontier banner? I know Maxwell gets 6* then or about.

For Gilgamesh, I'm thinking:

Snow w/ Kaiser Knuckles (wind) using Aquastrike (water), and provoke for the instant KO threshold attacks
Rain w/ Excalibur (holy) using Lava Floor (fire/earth)
Ling w/ Survival Knife and Water Blade materia, to cover Snow's elements when he tanks the instant KO, otherwise she will be mana battery
Refia doing Refia things
Noctis geared for pure damage and hp/mp regen w/ cover

That should cover all missions in one go. If I was able to get a 2nd copy of dualwield before the trial releases, I could make a stronger team by covering more elements on less units, but with only 1 copy of DW, my options are limited.

Vinen Vinen Equip Hat + Black Cowl will give more atk on Giglamesh over a barbute/10% atk materia. Leon's TM + Enhancer will give more atk to both hands over Excalibur/10% atk

Maxwell should come back soon. I know Tilith and Maxwell's 6 star forms were datamined in the last update. I'm not sure what kind of event it is though. The first one was a King Mog event but I'm not sure if this one is too.

We actually got the Maxwell Trial early. In Japan it was released with the second BF crossover but we got it early with the first. So speculation is that we will get it again with the second BF crossover. I'm wondering if those who beat it the first will have it reset and we'll be able to get a second Maxwell.

Maxwell has man-eater, high stats, and nice skill modifiers at 6*, with some good utility like aoe status cure, etc. Her biggest limit is only having spears as a weapon type.

Basically she's weaker than the top dogs, but probably the top of the 2nd tier units. For a free unit, she's great at 6*

She sucks and her TMR doesn't age well at all. Maxwell's LB is also awful, does no damage and hits too fast to chain with anything...except another Maxwell. Then it becomes completely retarded, but not retarded enough to be worth giving up an Orlandu companion. Being able to run double Maxwell for chaining without having to waste a companion slot to do it?

gs mastery, rod mastery, and knuckle mastery from trials. (50% each)

Queen, M.Fina, Shine, Leon, Werei, Dark Veritas, Fire Veritas, Earth Veritas, Light Veritas, Wind Veritas, Water Veritas.

It does have the slight advantage of being unconditional, as well as being both atk and mag, but that's mostly irrelevant.

What gear do you have on him?

I'm going to do a few 10+1 in hopes of getting Noctis when the Players Choice banner comes.

99.9% sure it's going to be Noctis, Chiz, Zidane (I voted for Ramza, Chiz, Zidane). Need to get a few Chiz anyhow to try reduce the amount of time spent TM grinding.

If it does end up being Zidane, Chizuru and Noctis than it's a 100% skip for me. I've been insanely lucky with 5 Zidanes, 4 Chizurus and 1 Noctis on the Noctis banner (insanely lucky being defined as 25k Lapis and 60 tickets).

It would still be the best banner ever released but it wouldn't do me an ounce of good except to accelerate DW grinding.
