Player base is solid - for a 1 month old game with 6 month beta players. Arena is autoable until you breach the top 100, then you gotta watch the comps and counterpick. Dungeons are hard... one of their devs is actually streaming dungeon content here:

Finally the Zidane banner. I'm sad he shares the 3* slot with Cecil, since I've pulled like 20+ Cecils, but I guess it's good for those who haven't pulled him yet. Maybe I'll get around to making a third Excalibur.

Definitely not ending the banner before pulling a minimum of 4 Zidane. At least 2 from tickets on day 1, then daily pulls until the final day, then tickets until the 4th. Still only have the one Chizuru, so more of those are welcome as well.

Ifrit Raid event starts this week too, which brings us Minfillia (free green mage) and Yshtola (good free healer).

Going to lapis refresh both Zidanes to ~35% then moogle them both to 100 with saved moogles. Only took nearly a year, but finally will have a dualwield team.

The first moogle banner too. Yall better get ready to buy more unit slots.
Meaning the moogles that are unit specific? I recall seeing something about this on JP, but I figured it was way out for GL.

I have not seen anything about the Ifrit raid event. How are the units free? It sounds like the event will give you tickets/currency to try to summon the units.

From what I understand (I could be misreading) but sounds like you get the units automatically for reaching milestones in the raid (similar to how we had the christmas raid). Once you clear the raid X times, you earn the unit. You can also spend the raid currency on a raid banner to summon more copies (basically, for earning their TM's faster, or if you want duplicates). Everyone gets at least one copy though, if you run the raid enough.

I'm sure JP players will give us the exact details of how it's going to work really soon.

Thanks for the info. The Christmas raid was not too bad as far as how quickly the personal rewards were earned. The Global raid points were obliterated pretty quickly by all the whales. There was no way I was getting into the top 100 for the moggle from that event. I was happy falling into the 1000-10000 tier and getting the summon tickets. More tickets to throw away trying to get Noctis, Gilgamesh, and Orlandu!

Are the "free" units going to provide bonus points? I guess it might be worthwhile to actually burn some cactuars to level them up to be useful in the party if that's the case.

edit: I found one site that provides a bit more detail on the JP event. That sites shows that orbs are used instead of energy. Can anyone that played the JP event confirm this?

There's no synergy units (thank god). There's 4 difficulties, and as usual the harder ones give more points per energy. The elite version is supposedly true end-game tuned (basically on Gilgamesh trial level), but Global always adjusts tuning, so it may be easier (or harder). Elite in JPN gave 7,000 currency. As the boss is killed serverwide, he gets more and more health added, and the base points get a multiplier, so by day 2 he may have twice the health pool, but award twice the points on a kill, for example. If you wipe, you still get some points based on how much damage you dealt (wiping at 50% gets you half points, etc).

You get 5 orbs that have their own pool / cooldown (1 hour refill) to use on the raid, so running the raid won't interfere with any of the other content you do in game, it's totally "free". When you reach X amount of points, you get a personal reward. In JP, Yshtola was given automatically after 600,000 points, Minfillia at 200,000 (but supposedly all 3 are very common from the raid summon gate). There's no global shared milestone rewards like christmas, but there are global ranking rewards. As usual, the ranking rewards are only for the dummy whales who spend $2000 in refreshes to get top 10 for ~100$ worth of lapis, so may as well ignore the ranking entirely.

You spend the points on a special raid gate that gives all 3 units, their evo materials, and various other stuff like crafting mats, consumables, etc. The FF14 units also have exclusive gear you can make from raid drops.

What's this mean? Moogles with each pull?!

Yes, but these moogles are character specific. For example, you may get a moogle that adds +5% TM to Shadow, or Kefka, or Delita, or.... you get the idea.

If you don't have the unit the moogle is designated for, you either throw it away (very wasteful) or you store it in hopes of pulling that unit later (thus the need for storage space).

I have all 6 units from the player's choice... 6 of Zidane... I won't be doing a single pull on it. I need to save Lapis and tickets anyway.

I guess I'll wait and see if the unit reviews come back favorable to determine if I want to spend the gil/mats to level any of these units. Looks like Cerius/Marie will be really helpful support units to live longer -> do more damage -> get more points.

If you already have Refia and Dualcast, then Yshtola isn't that special. She's the second best healer behind DC Refia though, so for everyone else, she's excellent.

Everyone's going to want good fire resist for Ifrit. He does a -50% fire resist debuff on the team. Minfilia is good for the +70% fire resist, though Marie is better, and Cerius can provide it if you already leveled him like me (I have regrets now).

CoD and omniveil?

That's only +30%, so after Ifrit's debuff, units will be at baseline -20% fire resist, which from what it sounds like on reddit, is really dangerous.

Carbuncle (or the crafted materia) can do +50% fire resist, which may be enough, depending on how he's tuned.

There's also a lot of gear to help too. Cecil can wear flamemail/flame shield for +100%, someone on Ifrit esper gets +50%, I'm sure every whale friend will be on Ifrit too (beastkiller, +50% FR). Ling or CoD have natural resist, etc etc.

The green mages I'm sure aren't an absolute requirement, but they can definitely help.

Finished Genji Glove. That puts my Noctis at 899 attack. Of course I screwed up on Odin and missed out on one point of attack...

Once Shine is finished I'll break 900.

This is actually really nice since it won't interfere with TM farming. My first Chizuru is getting close (75%). I wonder what would be a good team for this challenge. Firion has his improved beast killer at *6 lvl 100. Maybe DW ice sword and Beast Cestus/Werebuster? So, build up chains with Chizuru x2 and finish with Fin Briar, could be some decent damage. I know a lot of the best fire resist gear is light/heavy armor and shields. I might need to finish levelling Cerius since I don't have Marie.

Well i'm happy to see both Gilgamesh and Noct on the banner as I don't have either. I'll be hard pulling for noct, once I get him i'll call it a day. Gilg would be nice for flexiability but my Olive does just fine as a finisher. Noct will give me so much flexibility on my team for harder fights when you can't dedicate 3 people for damage (2 chain+fin) so he shall be mine. Guessing i'll get a lot of zin's for combines so maybe a 3rd DW is in my future as well!

I'm just happy that I'll finally be able to pull Cecil.

And Y'shtola should help me a lot with clearing the Gilgamesh trial. Unfortunately, I've already used all the Type-0 Gigantaurs so leveling is gonna be a pain.

Good luck on pulls for this banner! Looks like the Ifrit raid gives some pretty good EXP at each tier. The only problem is that you do not get Y'shtola until you hit 600k personal raid points. Looking at the JP info it looks like PRO gives about 2400 pts. Clearing it ever time, without missing an orb, will still take 10-11 days. Unfortunately, we are limited to 5 orbs at a time so forget about getting any sleep if you really want to push for these units quickly or get a decent global raid rank (< 50k for 2x tickets or < 10k for 3x tickets)

The actual boss fight does not get more health. It works like this (not actual numbers, just pulling out of my ass for the example)

Level one raid boss has 1 billion serverwide hp. Once the server has done 1 billion damage to him, you'll now be fighting level two raid boss who has 1.5 billion serverwide hp, and you get more raid currency for each kill. Once the server has done 1.5 billion damage to him, you'll now be fighting level three raid boss who has 2 billion serverwide hps, and the raid currency bonus gets progressively higher with each level.

Meanwhile the actual boss fight that you do yourself, his stats never change regardless of what serverwide level the raid is at.

*edit*

I can't speak as to what the difficulty of this raid will be like, but on JP the first raid after I started playing I was consistently able to clear ELT with a highly geared companion, and for the second raid I was able to handle ELT without being carried.
