Pretty cool website, although the 3rd encyclopedia that SquareEnix released fills in some missing info from that site (like what the seat of the member was tasked with)

I always enjoy the lore. Just wish when i was playing, I didnt get bogged down by fetch quests within the MSQ. They've gotten a lot better, but they just drag out some areas and its awful.

I noticed it in the last expansion a lot and it caused me to stop logging in. Need to log in and finish it now that I think about it. Maybe it gets better, but I was not enjoying anything I was going through and I supposedly had seen half of all the open world areas by the time I quit again. So Ill use Shadowbringers since that is like one of my favorite expansions. Remember the sea floor in that expansion? It had some really awesome views that you looked down into. There was tons of different flora, plants, coral, NPC's, etc. Tons of points of interests that you could go to. The zone looks like it took a ton of man hours to develop. But the amount of quests were minimal, and the MSQ takes you through there in maybe 30 minutes. Then you go into that following zone, which is all the tall Ascian.. ghosts? iirc? that talk to you and lead you through.. a city that looked like they developed it in maybe 30 minutes, itself?

They just have this uncanny ability to drag you through the most basic ass zones, and warp speed you through all the really cool ones. ... This expansion we're in right now? How fucking long did we stay on the beach? Back and fourth, over and over, using the flight paths, back and fourth, over and over, all within a 1/3 of the zone that barely has any notable features in it and is all on the beach. Fucking shit made me want to gag just thinking about logging in when I was doing that part.

Really hope this next expansion breaks the mold.

Think I got most of the Blue Quests done thats been in my Quest Log for ages. Also Inventory is cleared for new lewt.

I have always felt they made it too easy to skip through a zone if you follow the MSQ. You level pretty fast doing the MSQ and most quest don't involve killing much if anything, so it feels like I just rush past everything to the next cinematic. Granted I do skip all the sidequests so maybe it's on me.

I feel I'm ready for the expanion on my BLM, got the 540 gear from market and the Manderville Weapon. It will have to do as I think it will be replaced pretty fast.

Yeah the zone design and use of the zones is terrible.

This game is about the dungeons and raids really.

It's the opposite of WoW that used to have great zones and horrific raids.

Use of some zones is terrible, definitely agree on that. Labyrinthos being prime example from EW. The forced splitting up of the zone, and so much useless area in it.

They tried really hard to ruin Endwalker with that zone.

It should have been an indoor maze/catacomb like zone, then have part of the underworld aetherial sea stuff as the second half surprise.

There's literally nothing appealing about it at all. We already had the architecture in Dravainian Forelands and The Antitower was a way better idea for how to get to the aetherial sea.

The dungeon and trial were amazing though.

yeah agree about dungeon and trial, I actually liked how the zone looked, I just think it's weird to always force that "opening 2 zones have to be split up into multiple parts during MSQ so we come back to them". It worked a little better in Thavnair, but even once you had flying unlocked, so much of the space in Labs is just the central area at the bottom with the ship you eventually take to UT...and it's all virtually useless space. Granted they put the npcs for Pandemonium bread crumb quests there as a little extra usage, but still just far too much empty space.

Unless you're scouting for hunts there's so much of that zone that there's zero point to ever go to.

Also this music which I hated even though it worms its way into your mind. I know some people liked it, but I am not in their ranks

Yeah, I mean after awhile I just was sorta used to it, but it wasn't my favorite. Love most of the zone music from EW, though.

I just heard a theory on what Solution Nine is that makes a lot of sense - in fact, the theory is so good it could potentially be true and a major spoiler

Solution Nine (the techno city) doesn't actually exist - it is a virtual environment. The story trailer talks about how no one gets old or dies in there and when we see the Lalas go through that gate, there is sort of a derez/digitize effect. It would also explain why they've mostly kept to themselves.

One of the Ascians probably made it, but now it runs on its own. The Mystery girl is an AI that runs the city maybe. The shots in the story trailer where we see ships and stuff are all just AI driven/androids.

The writers of FF have shown to be fans of things like Fermi Paradox/Great Filter, so tackling the idea of digitizing the soul and living virtually to gain immortality/escape death fits right in.

Yeah, I usually love or at least enjoy most all of the zone music, but Lab day is a complete miss for me. The night version is fine, though.

Levelling Bard, the class has no cast times right?

So Physical Ranged DPS can just run around while doing their entire rotation? Seems very suited to controller play.

I assume there's a big DPS loss compared to Black Mage though?

I think they generally do a pretty good job of keeping the jobs well balanced. The way I understand it is that because Bards bring a bit of utility, they'd have lower personal DPS than other pure DPS jobs. However, their ability to continue their rotation while moving may make up for that.

You can poke around at FFLogs.com to get a better idea.

Thanks. Yeah 5% less DPS for all the effort BLM is and WITH group utility is pretty reasonable.

BLM is pretty decent on the move with triplecast and swiftcast giving potentially 7 instant casts on top of sharpcast and xenoglossy etc. Not raided with it though.

BLM is definitely in the best spot it's ever been with regards to being able to cast on the move, get back to your ley lines, etc. It is still punishing though if you mess up the rotation. Having to transpose back to Umbral Ice just to keep the timer ticking, despite having the mana to continue in fire, is the worst feeling. I find myself refreshing Astral Fire earlier than is necessary a lot, just to make sure I don't lose Enochian.

Learning new fights can be pretty frustrating on BLM too. Despite that, I always level it up first. I just love making things go BOOOM. That said, I'm toying with the idea of leveling Pictomancer up first this time around.

Finally got my DRG lvl 50+. It's been a meh dps melee. I do like walking around in the classic dragoon armor looking badass. Isn't there supposed to be some big changes to the job?

This is what I'm thinking.

I do new fights on Paladin for Tank and White Mage for Healer as I find them way more forgiving, then branch out to the other Tanks and Healers.

Paladin has the easiest invulnerable spell and White Mage has more spammable AoE heals and the full heal spell too.

So which DPS is equivalent to that? Got all the Magic DPS to 90 now but they don't feel like it.

Bard is much closer with the freedom to move so I guess I need to check out Machinist and Dancer too. I guess it's up to if it's better to have buffs or not?
