Yeah it's max level, and it's a LOT of quests after that. You're probably not gonna make it I'd say unless you play an insane amount. Plus side is you'll get xp past 50 once the expansion hit. Downside is you're gonna have to do 50 trials and shit while most people will be doing other shit, which is going to make the queues even shittier, and you're a DPS so you're probably going to have like 40mins queues for everything.

Not necessarily on the 'everything', because of all the Machinist/Astrologian/Dark Knight levelling. It really depends on how many of the first are being levelled. If anything, it might be like the weird Syrcus queues I was having last night where NO DPS WERE QUEUEING.

How is it poor design, expecting you to finish the story so that the reason you're even going to Ishgard is valid, rather than handwave and POOF, a magicalcontinenthub appears!

Everything 50 will definitely have shit queues, I wasn't talking about leveling dungeon, but story stuff and since he's already 30, he'll be 45+ by the expansion and hitting those at that point. Garuda normal, Empire zones, Levi/Mog/Ramuh/Shiva hm and Spaceguy/Steps. People who play the new classes will be 30-40 by the time he hits those(plus no one will queue these for leveling, makes no sense), people who play old classes will be 51-52 just questing around, and that makes the lvl 50 queues shit since the only people doing them will be people who didn't know they had to do the story(which I'm sure is still going to be a decent amount) or people who are in the same case.

Hopefully they give new gear in the 50 story quests too, since it'll be a fucking pain to get the ilvl for the harder stuff without people queuing 50dungeons. They said they'd bump it but I hope they don't fuck it up. In wow you could just go to the 50+ zones do a couple of quests and get your welfare better than raid loot greens, but since heavensward entrance is locked to the story progress, you can't really do that much.

I got the impression that since it will take "the same time" to level 50-60 as 1-50, and the i130 comment, that we'll be seeing roughly +20 ilvl per 2 post-50 levels (assuming i90 at 50). Exactly how we're getting that, I can't help but wonder if it'll actually be Soldiery/Poetics gear.

Then again, the likelihood of it being generic vendor/crafted gear is more likely. Either way, I can see starting dungeons like Dusk Vigil dropping Soldiery gear and the Lv54-55 dropping Poetics.

I started praetorium for the first time, I stated I was new and was my first time in the instance, I was going to watch cutscenes. Trash was skipped, I lost 2 of the boss fights and then I chose to leave the place. Fuck playing like that.
The only reason I play this game is the story, if I can't even watch it unfold, what's the fucking point? Gotta collect those tomes so fast?
Jesus fucking christ, I hate the MMO population nowadays. I'm on the verge of uninstalling the game because I was reminded how nice is the people at level cap.

Party Finder -> Recruit Party -> Praetorium -> Story-focused, not skipping cutscenes.

I personally don't see why anyone who has run Praetorium or Castrum once each would do so again. They take a non-trivial amount of time, they don't drop loot, and labyrinth is better in every respect.

That said, you can view any cutscenes you missed in an inn room by looking at the book. This goes for every dungeon, non-text quest, main story thing, and class quest. People in dungeon finder generally want to do it as fast and as painlessly as possible, so you are going to run into it pretty much nonstop. Other games would have similar issues if they used cutscenes, honestly.

You run it more than once because it is one of the easiest ways to get soldiery becauaae most of the time you will get the new person bonus.

If it helps you can rewatch the cutscenes you missed at the inn. Also Square Enix seems to have learned their lesson and have put cutscenes in more non intrusive places for those that want to power through.

It wasn't good design to put 30mins of cutscenes in the middle of a fucking dungeon, especially a 8man. Best way to do it imo is to just clear the thing, then watch the cutscenes after in your inn. It's not optimal but it doesn't bother anyone and you get all the time you need to watch them. That or a PF/FC group that does it slowly. Wish they had added the "less than max can enter dungeon" feature earlier, praetarium and castrum can be done with like 3people nowadays at a decent pace, which would make it much easier to run people through.

a friend said they're removing the sync stuff from old content come the expac? so 50s can just steamroll shit for lower levels if needed to help catch up?

I hit 38 on my ninja today, will be 40+ tomorrow for sure. Hopefully i can churn out 2 levels or so a day lol

Still catching up on tons of shit, about done with everything current. I think they will have 1-50 stuff pay out decent poetics or wahtever the flavor of the month is for currency on roulette so it keeps people going, and keeps the level 50 queues moving forward.

Premade parties can opt-out of level sync, is what it basically is. There's also a "sync to lowest ilvl" feature for some of the time-attack challenges that are supposedly coming in 3.0(?) too.

Definitely continue on the Paladin. Your leveling and your finishing the main story will be 100 times faster.

If you do not like the Paladin, you will not like the Dark Knight. Tanking in this game isn't hard or challenging. It's a lot of standing still pressing 1-2-3.

that has nothing to do with a paladin though, the fantasy that differs between the two is literally polar opposites, the dark knight is far more appealing

paladin style is pretty bland, dark knights are boss as fuck~

Well the "issue" is it'll take longer to do all the required dungeons. On top of that, if you don't get them done before the patch as I said earlier, it's gonna be rough. At least the 2.0 shit(castrum and the other imperial thingie), for the primals due to the short fights and people resubbing even though they haven't played since 2.0, I think you'll get decent enough queues. Still gonna add a bunch of time. On the other hand, no real rush I'd say, especially if you plan on going DRK, since you'll go back to 30 and have to redo old zones anyway, so it's not like you're missing out on heavensward content and need to get it asap or whatever.

Too late to switch now since you outlvled your pld though. Honestly I don't really remember but I think it's unlikely you'll hit 50 before thursday however, it takes quite a bit longer to do 40-50 than most of the rest of the leveling.

yeah, it's not a big deal i'm 40.5 atm but i may as well just take my time since the story stuff sounds like it'll be a PITA anyway.. plus the thought of immediately doing the 30-50+ grind right away is super unappealing so i'll just stick with ninja i think, no rush~

then swap to DK when i can without really grinding hard

Well there's some stuff for everyone, subligars are FFXI trademark though so that's kinda why. The good looking armor actually looks really good imo, other than the rigidity of some parts and stuff like that. Also almost everything that's not just pants looks retarded on horses.
