Power went out yesterday after a pretty good storm. I take a nap for a couple hours and wake up, the storm has passed and it is still light out but the power is still out. So I get the inverter for my redneck solar array hooked up to the batteries and plug in the Fios box and my Spare fridge downstairs. I head out to the shed and get the decent suburbia sized generator and drag it over to the proper location under the deck. I run the cables to the upstairs fridge, to the main chair floor light in the living room, (With a small battery backup UPS already installed) I run another cable from the generator to the larger scale UPS that runs the fios tuner and TV with attached home theater pc. I run a cable to the fios router in the back office.
Since I got all prepped for a storm and or power outages it has been three years with no power outages, so this is the first chance to put the check on my Man card for this shit.
The battery for the electric start on the generator is dead. Fuck. I use the pull cord like a god damn savage, damn thing starts on the first pull.
Hunh, who knew I could get a semi from that at my age. Wow, damn this feels kinda good. I get the generator all happy and purring and go inside to turn everything on and prove, god damn it, that I am a fucking MAN!
TV, computer and Fios and cordless phones + fridges all working happily, even the floor lamp next to lazyboy has a happy glow.
I sit down for a sec to bask in the glow of a job well done, (with of course no AC, damnit!) and the power comes back on.
FFFffffffF1!!!1
Now I have to clean all this shit back up! First world problem...
