Pixels total box office is listed as 244 million. Ghostbusters is listed as 74 million.

Pixels also only cost 88 million to make compared to 144 million for Ghostbusters.

lastly Pixels was considered a huge flop sending Adam Sandler packing to Netflix to make non theatrical movies,
Ghostbusters (2016) (2016) - Box Office Mojo

It's 122 as of right now. Not sure where you get 74. But yeah, it's not recouping its budget from its theatrical run. Still think a sequel happens given their hopes.

Dude, if you're going to use the worldwide total for Pixels we're going to rag on you for only using the domestic total for Ghostbusters. Shit, Pixels didn't even break 80m in the US.

My figures were the same for both movies just change the search term from ghostbusters 2016 total box office to pixels total box office.

don't use google for your up to the minute box office results, use boxofficemojo.com. The google results are basically 1-2 weeks old, but are worldwide

I have no information on how google or box office mojo derives the numbers they present. But I see no reason to use box office mojo over google.

I will note Google certainly thinks their number is more important than the box office mojo number though.

You really are a moron. You have no information because you do not seek it out. Google is not infallible (and, in fact, Bing even beats them in this case:ghostbusters box office - Bing). Do you not understand Google isn't actually curating that value but pulling it from search results?

You have no knowledge in this space and yet exert the confidence of an authority. BOM is far from the only site with this information. If you go to any site talking about the latest weekend that gives US cumulative numbers, you'll see that alone is not your magical 75M number, but 86. This one also references the global 122M:http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmen.../#7e0305093ecdAlso:Dominates Weekend, Eyes $60 Million | VarietyAnd another site:http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/fr...rs#tab=summary

But I guess all those industry sites are colluding and only Google knows the real truth! You must be trolling to be this obtuse. You and Astro should get together to become box office analysts.

I'm not going to get in a middle of a google-bing-yahoo(verizon) war but even in astro's imdb link it says "Top Box Office (US)" at the top with "Reported by Box Office Mojo ? 2016" at the bottom. IMDB owns boxofficemojo and all of the journalists and bloggers quote their estimates.

What is the reason for the difference between the two sources? I would note note box office mojo also has pixels at 30+ million less for global then google. So you have case where google is giving both a lower early number for ghostbusters and a larger final number for pixels. Bing IMD BOM all seem to use the same source while google is using something else.

I honestly have no idea what source is more accurate I simply took the bigass ten times the noraml text size of everything else on the first pade number google put at the very top of the search result when i googled it.

BOM says $244,874,809 from what I'm seeing, same as the google result of 244.9 million USD in this case. I'm not sure where you're seeing the difference. Ultimately these numbers come from the studios, especially the actuals (estimates come from studios and other industry sources, such as competing studios that are tracking sales/market behavior), but they're obviously changing on a daily basis until the movie is out of theaters. So that's why something like Google (or Bing in some instances, I'm sure), that's merely using an algorithm that determines what it thinks is a best answer for your query, can be wrong for information that quickly changes. Stuff like BOM and other industry sites actually have real people behind them tallying the numbers and reporting the information.

Another reason for differences (again for recent films) is international grosses tend to have varying reporting schedules, which adds a lot of variance as well. A good example of this is something like Tarzan, which just had a big international opening this weekend ($44M). BOM lists it as 262M global while Google reports 199, which is a week old information wise.

If Emma Watson released a porn video cinematic ally, it would break Avatar's record several times over.
