Kids never had taste.
Made me chuckle because I read it at the same time I read the people talking about it being beloved because they saw it as kids.

I was young when I saw it too. It was a good movie, my parents got me some merch, and I tried to watch the cartoon. But it was really middle of the good movie pack. The only part I thought was really outstanding was the song and the music video. I'm surprised so many people were touched so deeply by it.

The original had a big impact because improv comedy movies kind of fell by the wayside for a while, especially post Belushi death. Seeing most of the core braintrust of the early National Lampoon days riffing with each other (in a manner not really seen since Animal House or maybe Caddyshack) made it stand out in the midst of a ton of sub par 80s cheese comedies that no one even remembers anymore.

They're not done, Ghostbusters 2 was just starting a new trend.

Disney Movie Reboot in the Works (Exclusive) - Hollywood Reporter

he new take keeps the story in a period setting and offers a fresh view on the characters. Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African-American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jet-pack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.

My only memories of it involved Jennifer and she's apparently getting ready for a new Shindlers list or something.

Only in America. Poor people are fat, and rich people look like a holocaust survivor.

Looks photoshopped to me. Look at the difference in size between her legs. Edit: After some more searching, it appears she really is that thin and definitely has some fucked up legs.

Also, google result for GB is at 123M now :p

Does anyone have precious Rocketeer memories?
I have a vague memory of the advertising for that movie being interesting but the actual movie being completely forgettable.

Nobody will care if they make the new Rocketeer black and female.

True, the original was barely average, but they could have just made another fucking movie entirely and STOP USING EXISTING IP SHIT TO ARTIFICIALLY BOOST WHATEVER-THE-FUCK GODDAMMIT HOLLYWOOD.

Sorry, it's all out I think. Maybe, for now.
