Man famm, your life must suck if you go through it this pessimistic.

It's a godzilla movie that looks awesome, sit back and enjoy it.

That Statue of Liberty threw me at first too, until I realized it was the one in Vegas at that theme hotel, and it looks pretty damn close to that.
Yep in front of New York , New York. The shot of The Strip destruction was right before it.

Loved the fuck out of that trailer!!!!

I was sitting watching it, going "Fuck that look's awesome!!"

Really cool plot idea that the Nuclear testing in the Pacific were the actual attempts to kill him, and that they failed.

That has my interest peaked as well.

Usually in movies like this, you end up with a "let's nuke em" as a last resort, that never happens because the people/team who are the main focus of the movie usually ends up finding another way. Now that is already out of the way so we don't have to waste 30-40 minutes of the movie in a story arch we have all seen before.

Though I am curious as to how they will defeat something nukes can't. Guessing they go with biology / viruses since conventional weapons obviously don't apply.

Or "monsters" appear and Godzilla eventually becomes sort of a misunderstood good guy in the end and doesn't die leaving room for a sequel.

Attacking an underwater target with a weapon that splits its force omnidirectionally isn't the most efficient choice of offense. But it's not like you can line up dumptrucks full of fish to lure him out into the open.

Just make sure not to use a disposable camera near him. The flash of 1000 suns that that thing creates will set him off in a rage

He's not a good guy or a bad guy. He's a force of nature completely indifferent to human beings. Also, I can all but guarantee he won't die in the end, if only because the director has gone on record saying he likes the "monster island" concept from the earlier movies and would love to use it for a sequel.

Theres no way they're killing him in this movie, he'll end up destroying what/who ever pissed him off and go back to sleep in the ocean with the final farewell of "See you in the sequel where i'll fight megalon!"

The people who created this movie have said they are going for the Godzilla vs other monsters approach instead of America vs Godzilla.
yeah. First, the trailer was a bit meh for me honestly. Pac rim had me excited as all hell.
This... eh.

Some notes.
3 cranes was a great shot.
Vegas statue of liberty was a bit weird. both statues are really small. Plus the confusion of it being Vegas and not New york.

1:28. naval artillery shell hanging with some kind of organic "thing" encasing it.
That sure doesnt look like Godzilla to me.

Then right after we have shots of something in the sky. And planes falling into the ocean, with something else very large.

2:03 I dont think is godzilla either.

In the first godzilla trailer you can see the corpse of another monster on the ground.

Godzilla would never fight King Ghidorah on his first go round, its liable to be either Rodan or one of the other minor sized beasties. if we see King Ghidorah it will be at the end as some kind of teaser for the sequel.

I worded it a bit wrong, but that is what I was thinking. He is indifferent, however, the destruction he causes is first seen as him being against us, and as such "bad". However, a monster appears that is actually out to kill humans (easy plot point would be us a new food source),Godzilla fights and kills it, then disappears (as he doesn't care about us), making him the "good" guy. Humans in the movie being little more than annoying ants that shoot at everything with little success.

Was wondering though, usually the nuclear tests in the 50s are what spawns monsters in movies, due to radiation and such. If the plot point isn't "radiation caused them to grow so large", then how does the Godzilla lore account for something that large? And also being unknown?

I don't know much about the Godzilla lore, is it like in Pacific Rim? A portal of sorts?

If humans had nothing to do in creating it, it makes me curious how they came to be. The size of them isn't exactly evolutionary plausible.

They come from Monster Island, an Island that is shrouded in fog although with todays technology they would have easily found it by now.
