Don't care the door didn't make it, but the existence (and width) of an open tunnel like that is implausible, that the writers don't care about such things doesn't do the series justice.
Doesn't that door/tunnel combo become important at the battle of the wall later? Like a giant gets killed in some narrow ass hallway blocking up the whole thing... kinda misses the point when its Grand Central Station and shit.

That's at Castle Black, I believe.

Anyway, I'll withhold nitpicking things in the final episode until next season. Just because they didn't explain something in that episode, doesn't mean they won't.

They've significantly altered the order of events at King's Landing. I don't see how they reconcile that without ripple effects.

What would the ripple effects be exactly? Honest question. I see a lot of things about Jaime being there too early, but I don't really see how that paints them into a corner of significantly changing any of the key plot movements.

Hard not to see Baelish as sort of a villian at this point even if he doesn't fit the typical villian mould. He's always been really nice to the people he's betraying and using.
Eh, by those standards almost everyone in GoT is a villain. I think by GoT standards, to really be a villain you have to do fucked up shit for no real reason or gain, which is why I used the examples of Joffrey and Ramsay. I would barely even count Walder Frey as a villain, since he had beef with Robb and stood to gain from betraying him, but he also took it a bit far with the corpse desecration thing.

Pushing people off a mountaintop to their deaths don't make someone a villain? Damn we live in some cruel times...
I highly doubt he planned to kill her until she tried to kill Sansa. In fact, I doubt he really had any particular designs on the Eyrie, and the only reason he kept things together so well in the aftermath of her death is because he performs just as well thinking on his feet as he does when he plans things out beforehand. He isn't really holding Sansa hostage when she has nowhere else to go. I also don't think he had any intention of causing the war of the five kings, I believe he was sincerely trying to talk convince Ned to take the throne himself, if only because Baelish would have more power in his court than in a Lannister court. I think he only betrayed Ned because Stannis on the throne would have been bad for business.

The incompetence and stupidity of Joffrey is what started the war, or at least it would have just been Renly and Stannis rising up to contest the throne. If he hadn't executed Ned, Robb wouldn't have rebelled, and if Robb hadn't rebelled, Balon Greyjoy probably wouldn't have seen an opportunity to rise up himself.

Predictions for Brienne arc:

She chills out in KL as Jaime's guest. Cersei is an asshole to her. She learns no one knows where the hell Arya is. Tywin will probably be "lol, you ain't bringing Sansa anywhere and Cat is dead". Brienne conflicted! Maybe she hangs around as a bodyguard for Sansa. Then all the shit goes down and Jaime eventually sends her on her quest when Sansa goes missing.
Yep. All the people complaining about deviations lack imagination and an appreciation for how easily this shit can be reconciled. GRRM probably goes through many different variations of stories whose starts and ends are exactly the same.

Especially when both GRRM and the HBO Davids apparently know the "ending".

I read some article, Slate I think, where the author brings up a good point: The show should diverge to the point where the book readers have no idea what's going on. He argues it's the way to go. I'm a bit on the fence as far as that, but I don't neg the show for moving in different directions. The things that bother me are adding more sex, more homo and not enough reverence for Valyrian weapons.

Keep on keepin' on HBO.

I'm having trouble with this. I think up something, and then I figure it'll be futile because of some other event. Jaime's character evolution seems at risk, but it can be corrected. Likewise Brienne could be less honorable by failing to act, but she's a bit player anyway and there's quite a bit standing against her if she did.

Yeah, with decent writing(and I don't think anyone can really argue that the writing isn't well done on the show), I'm confident they will have it all make sense. They have to compress timelines since we only get 10 f'ing episodes. As long as the plots themselves aren't fucked with much, I'm willing to overlook a lot of the 'for tv' changes.

Meh. Valyrian steel became dumb when Tywin was able to have Ned's greatsword Ice melted down and reforged into two longswords with no problem. The shit is the same old fantasy trope, Valyrian steel is basically just mithril/adamantine/starmetal/etc.

We can probably consider Valyrian swords sort of the GoT equivalent of viking swords called Ulfberht which were made from superior steel.

They can melt it down and reforge it but they have lost the magic to create new raw material. Probably Dragon fire forged

Well, for one Brienne's arc is interesting now. Remember in the book, Brienne does not know what Sansa looks like when she goes looking for her so now that she's at KL, will they just throw her in prison and let her languish there until after the wedding? I'm actually more annoyed that they removed the scene from the book (Jaime meets Cersei at the church) but of course they couldn't have that since Joffery isn't dead yet.

Valyrian is more than just damascus though, because they're lighter than steel. I do agree that reforging Ice kind of diminished the allure of it because reforging a blade is still really difficult.

Either way the sword sequences in general have been pretty mute in the tv show. It'd be great if they had more scenes of tournament like combat to show the prowess of the characters but whatever, it's no big deal and I wouldn't expect it to be that satisfying anyway. I've got big hopes for Oberyn vs the Mountain though.

Brienne knowing what she looks like doesn't change much for the show though. She was always asking people with the description she had, but anything else was internal dialogue which isn't in the show anyway. Even with Sansa meeting both Brienne and Jaime, she will be whisked away a few episodes into Season 4, leaving her plot relatively the same. The only difference is that Jaime will get to see his son die at Joff's wedding now and I think we can all agree that everyone deserves to watch that little douche die.
