They could leave her out and it wouldn't have a big impact on the show, but I don't see any reason to other than not wanting to pay the actress again.

I wasn't a fan of Catelyn Tully either but I liked Lady Stoneheart. Mostly because it added another example of magic coming back into the world, and I thought the idea of the BWB following around a zombie hellbent on revenge was cool.

the lady stoneheart subplot would probably work better on tv than it did in the books. lots of good drama with her reveal and forcing brienne to kill jaime who they just established has fallen in love with him. if they could include an unnecessary character like stannis's daughter they can spare a few minutes for lady stoneheart. now if only we got patchface, strong belwas and styled daeny's boytoy's appearance like he was in the books i would be a happy camper.

My 2 cents is that the TV writers do an incredible job of acting with a veil of ignorance to book readers most of the time. So they want to establish that Littlefinger is a sick fuck who orchestrated basically the entire downfall of the world because he was friend-zoned and still wants to nail Cat.

After they establish all of that to tv viewers who are safe and confident in the demise of Cat, probably sometime mid to late next season, they'll bring her back in cameos. I would bet pretty confidently that Cat is definitely the one who will be killing Littlefinger. Too much irony to be ignored.

So what you're saying is that if littlefinger gets to fuck zombie-cat... and I meanreallyfuck her no holes barred style, then a new age of peace and tolerance will dawn on westeros?

Sounds pretty legit. The entire story cycle is a cautionary tale about friendzoning the guy you don't think is important.

Dipshit, you stated Cat wasn't essential plot wise. You're almost as bad as Astro.
dipshit? lol fgt.

I stated lady stoneheart wasn't essential plot wise. She isn't. You claimed I hadn't read the books because I said she doesn't have any POV chapters, you were obviously mistaken, and I accept this post as a further apology on your behalf for your ignorance.

All of which could be done by the BWB themselves.

edit: Btw, I am not saying they will cut her. I think she will definitely be included.

Why would they cut out part of the books!? Why is this even a discussion. Even if not this season they can bump it up to next season.

Cutting out uncat would be very unlikely because of how much focus they put on Catylen Stark and how much more likable she is in the show compared to the books.

Plus given how much focus they have on Bran and the mage bros in the east that Daenarys caught on fire they aren't cutting magic from the show at all. In fact I'd argue that every magical aspect from the books is emphasized in the show.

I don't know much about Zombie Cat, but bro's... that sounds straight up like good TV.

I mean zombies are IN. How would they NOT include a zombie main character? One of my actual legitimate complaints (I admit I like to shit on it sometimes just to shit on it. It's fine for a Conan story) about the show is that they set up this zombie-walker menace and it goes absolutely nowhere. It absolutely does not. It's a prop to get the story started and it's almost like it's just inconvenient for them to deal with afterwards.

Part of any adaptation of an extremely large series is going to be cuts. You simply aren't going to be able to cover everything in the series. Tradeoffs have to be made.
What have they cut out so far? If anything they have added many things.

Most they have done is skip a scene with a character to save them for a new season for casting reasons (eg Blackfish).

They have cut shitloads man. Every episode you have wailing and gnashing of teeth from hardcore fans of the hugely important things they cut. If you don't think they haven't cut shit from the books, then you really need to reread the books.

Have you read the fucking books dipshit?

How about Ned's fucking dream, ghost (not) barking, strong belwas, many members of the BWB, members of the Kingsguard, Loras's brother, jesus fuck, I could go on for fucking pages.

edit:
[Book Show Spoilers] Season 4 is unsatisfying for me so far - General (GoT) - A Forum of Ice and Fire

Go check out that forum and that thread. That is complaints just on the first 2 episodes of s4. There are threads started every episode about shit dropped that has "ruined" the series.

So combining minor characters, saving Tower of Joy for later (they are still hinting at it like in the books, did you really expect them to film it!?) and a continuity error?

Are any of those in any way equivalent to missing out a character which drives several chapters and events in the book? Stoneheart is a major plot point for Catelyn, Jamie and Brienne.

Okay, good, now you have at least admitted that things were dropped from the books.

Now we can talk about things like Loras not having a brother being a pretty major (according to some people) departure from the books. It means for example that Loras can't join the Kingsguard, which weakens the Sansa hoping to be married out of Highgarden and removes some of the motivation for the Purple Wedding (as one of the motivations was, what happens when Loras hears that Joffrey hit Margaery).

I don't think any of the things I mentioned are big deals, but people are just as convinced in some quarters that those are major things that ruin the series. Just like you see the removal of Uncat as huge, I see it as not that significant at all. Brienne can still be hung by the BwB, she can still be freed on the condition she trap Jaime to save Pod, etc.

the worst cuts for me was how they fucked up arya's escape from harrenhall and then they monkeyed with gendry's story

They have changed minor details and the order of some events etc etc, they haven't dropped the driving focus for whole chapters. I get what you are saying but things like Edric Storm now being Gendry are not in the same league as Stoneheart.

At least one of Loras' brothers has been mentioned in the TV Show?
