I hope they make a slight change from the books and have Bronn fight for Tyrion and kill the mountain. Then he and Tyrion will leave King's Landing and run into Arya and the Hound in the wilderness. Next season will be the 4 of them traveling the countryside making wisecracks, calling people cunts, and eating copious amounts of chicken, with a few short scenes of nude Dany thrown in.

We'll see how it plays out in the show. If they're willing to do something as awkward as what happened with Asha Greyjoy monty pythoning her way around the Dreadfort they could get to the oberyn/gregor duel any way they want.

My prediction: Tywin hears the trial by combat, plots to have Bronn fight Meryn Trant in exchange for Jaime stepping down as the kingsguard. Cersei counters his plot with something half-retarded and has Gregor selected somehow. Bronn says fuckin' nope. Oberyn steps up.

The other way it could work is Cersei immediately pipes up about Gregor before Tywin can even think about who should fight, and he doesn't have the crowd and noblemen enough to take Gregor away from the fight and put in Meryn Fucking Trant.
Gregor has to agree to it, which I can't imagine he would without checking with Tywin. We will see, I guess. I just hope they don't gay it up like that Dreadfort fight.

tywin could easily have sent the mountain away, maybe to find sandor and then he would be unavailable for the trial by combat. in fact i would think with oberyn in town he would want the mountain as far away as possible

He is far away in the book, Tywin wanted him far away while Oberyn was in KL. Cersei choosing him made him come back to the city since she chose him as her champion. He's not only loyal to Tywin, he's loyal to all house lannister.

I don't see why they would skew away from that fact lol

Shit if you want to put on that tin foil hat lets all hope for CLEGANEBOWL, GET HYPE

I love how in the small council meeting, when Tywin would mention Daenerys they did several short focus shots right on Oberyn. Any devoted film student would see that Oberyn is already weeeelllll aware of what Daenerys is doing.

I don't know the rules of this thread, but I have NOT read any of the books. Are we allowed to speculate what might happen in the final 4 episodes of the season, just by using the episode titles, or is that considered a spoiler?

For example, 2 episodes ago was titled "Oathkeeper". We have since learned that this is the name Brienne of Tarth gave her Valyrian Steel sword, after Jaime Lannister gifted it to her. However, I would have guessed that the episode title itself was a nickname for Brienne herself. Being that she always wished to serve someone deserving.
Is that allowed?
I was gonna ask about this. I am one of those who doesn't watch previews and doesn't get any other info such as episode titles or looking up cast members on IMDB. People did that while True Detective was going on and for me personally it was annoying when people said around episode 2 or 3 "Oh that guy is listed for two more episodes" because then it just feels like it closes the mystery, at least to some degree. So at least for my money, keeping titles/cast members/preview comments in spoilers is best.

I might possibly be a bit of an extreme example though, because now I'm even skipping the 'previously on' bits at the beginning. I swear every episode earlier in this season had the Jester guy in the 'previously on' and after like 2 or 3 it's like 'OK WE GET IT HE'S GONNA DO SOMETHING IMPORTANT'.

Oh and as for this episode I thought the low point was that retarded scene between Theon's sister and the crazy guy releasing the dogs. He's like fiddling with the key, putting it in the slot, and then instantly the entire Ironborn crew are out at their ships with nary a bad guy on their tail. I really expected them to die; it sure seemed like a suicide mission, especially after how fast the alarm went up after they got in there. But then nope, just some red shirts died. And I guess Theon "died" in the eyes of his sister, but to me that storyline has become rather uninteresting.

If I was Tyrion I would pick Jamie, there is no way the old man would want his only true heir killed and Cersi would not want to see Jamie killed, or pick the prince who likes to fuck everything and everyone, he seems pretty handy with a sword.

Especially because he's not very good at the 1 hand just yet. I'm sure he'll get better while training with Tyrian's sell sword guy, but I doubt he'll ever be even close to his old self.

Anyway, now to talk about episode titles and what I think will happen based off of the titles. This was taken from Wiki's episode list.

Episode 7 - Mockingbird
I have absolutely no idea. I know they made reference to a bird earlier in the season, but I forget what it involved. I think it was a scene with Sansa, though, so maybe she'll be around. But then again, maybe it's something with Aria. I really want the two Stark girls to do something. Then again, it's Mockingbird, so maybe it's Tyrian's whore mocking him. Fuck, I don't know..

Episode 8 - The Mountain and the Viper
I can only assume that this is Tyrian's trial by combat. We know who the mountain is.. the guy that decapitated his horse back in season 1 after he was dismounted in the jousting contest. He's also the go-to thug of grandpa Lannister. So I'm sure he's the one that's going to represent Cersei against Tyrian.
The viper. I know who that is, but I don't know if it was a name given in the show, or something that some guy I work with told me, so I'm going to leave that blank. But spoiler within a spoiler...
We know who hates the mountain. It was mentioned a few posts ago. The guy from that foreign city where Cersie's daughter is currently staying. He hates the mountain after what happened to his sister, so I'm sure he's going to fight for Tyrian.

Episode 9 - The Watchers on the Wall
Ok, typically episode 9 is the "big" episode of each season. That's where Eddard was killed, Battle of Blackwater & Red Wedding. So something huge is going to happen at the Wall. There's 2 options here. Mance Rayder (I had to look up the spelling of his name) attacking from the north, or the the group of people attacking from the south. the red headed chick among them. I suspect it's going to be the southern attack. Jon isn't at the wall right this second, but I'm sure that he'll be back by the time the attack comes. Plot drama being what it is, I'm sure he's going to have to pick between saving one of the black or red headed girl because it's an even fight. Probably Sam, because that's even more drama. Your friend or your lover. I think Jon will save Sam, killing the red head in the process.

Episode 10 - The Children
The first thing that popped into my head is Dany's dragons. They are her children. Maybe she learns to control them a bit better. Especially after they're causing havoc to the city she's now ruling. She's a strong character, yet sitting in a throne room giving directions isn't doing that this season. Maybe she'll go out and solve some problems. A few episodes ago, they said that one of the cities she liberated has been taken over yet again by another ruler type. That he's slaughtering her people. I think this episode is going to be all about her learning a lesson in how to be a real queen so that she can eventually take over Westeros.

My other train of thought is that this is about Bran and his group finally getting to the tree so that Bran can sync up with it. Or maybe he'll finally encounter the 3 eyed crow that he's been after.

Ok, those are my predictions. We'll see how well I did.

And am also curious about whether or not Tyrion can choose a champion. Seems kind of a cheap out to be able to demand trial by combat, and not have to fight yourself.
It certainly does. In that case it becomes self defeating as a form of justice, you're supposed to be putting your ass on the line.

If that's how it works and I were in that situation, plus had loads of money and were up to unlawful practices or in a position where you're likely to be a target and set-up for a crime ( or whatever ) I'd have had for years a team of talent scouts looking for a Uber-fighter that I'd keep in the shadows just in case and call him as my champion. He'd be useful for other things too, well paid etc etc.

I'm thinking of how Dario was easily able to defeat the soldier on horse back charging at him with a lance.
