Weelllllllll...Sandor apparently survived the Inn fight unscathed(the little lovetap on his back that folks thought would kill him has not), so maybe people are theorizing about how he's going to get dead now.

Now that you mention it that seems like a good possibility and would be an amazing departure from the books.

Having a scene where Gregor aces a bunch of peasants without armor then 1v1s Sandor would be great. Would be annoying if Sandor only loses to protect Arya though!

Seems pretty obvious that this is what they are doing. They need to re-introduce the Mountain before he steps in to duel the Viper, and they have been foreshadowing a conflict between the Clegane boys with Arya/Hound dialogue pretty much this whole season. Tywin even said last episode that he will send word to the soldiers in the front lines (Mountain's crew) that the Hound needs to die asap.

They can accomplish the following:

1. Who is this Mountain guy again?
2. Oh, holy shit the Mountain really is a fucking bad ass.
3. The exit of the Hound from the story for now.
4. Maybe a redemption element to the conflict, where the Hound is mortally wounded in an attempt to save Arya.

Arya tries to help the Hound with Needlework, this is dumb. Mountain about to ruin her shit and Hound saves her. Calls her a dumb cunt while seemingly bleeding out.

TJ is a genius and you were all fools to doubt him.

yep it's all perfect. Plus I always thought the way the hound bit it in the books was lame.

He was answering someone who claimed only one was missing and the show fucked up.
I think all the confusion is stemming from the scene in the show where the old guy ( in the picture ) gives his testimony. He says about the necklace that there'sa gemmissing.

I think it was written that way in the show because viewers aren't always going to remember right away about Littlefinger crushing a Gem, so straight out saying "There's 2 missing" or "a few Gems are missing" might cause a moment of confusion and have viewers having to run the sequence of events back over their head.

It also makes sense within the show's reality that even if the old guy ( plus the rest of the witch hunt against Tyrion ) finds that the necklace has 2 gems missing, that for the sake of making the trial simpler and more direct, they just say "a gem missing and traces of poison" which doesn't add any potential confusion as to why 2 are missing. Which actually does open the real questions of the fact that the necklace was handled more than once and multiple people are involved.

The whole trial is one big stitch up anyways.

That old fuck is such a phoney anyway. I remember season 2 when Tyrion caught him walking normally after appearing as a cripple for everyone. It was around the time he was fucking some random castle wench, right before he was imprisoned.

Yeah Pycelle's only redeeming trait as a fictional character is that he's fucking with everyone all the time, and only the smart people know it.

Sandor saving Arya from something and suffering a "mortal" wound sounds likely. When Brienne sees him at the monestary he has his face covered or something right? Curious if he's actually going to come back into play in the books or if Bran's dream was just garbage that's not going to happen.

Am I the only one who doesn't think we've seen the last of the Hound in the books? I don't remember his "death scene" all that clearly but was it nebulous enough to make it possible he didn't die?

For the trial by combat, The "gods" are supposed to decide the fate of the accused. So I am assuming anybody who thinks the accused is innocent would fight for them.

Dunno what you guys have been smoking about anyone killing Clegane. Dude gets a festering wound, cries like a bitch on the shoulder of a monk and begs pardon for his sin. The Hound "dies" but Sandor recover and lives.

The Mountain isn't really the kind of guy you walk away from with a flesh wound. He slices horses in his spare time ffs. The idea would be neat I suppose but for it to work they'd have to cram in yet another Monty Python run awaaay scene or somesuch.

Yep, Gregor slaying Sandor would be a cool departure from the books. But it wouldn't leave any room for him becoming a Quiet Isle bro later unless he just injures him, which doesn't seem like something the Mountain would do.

I read this yesterday and figured that was why people were all of the sudden comparing the Dreadfort scene to Monty Python (even though that obviously isn't the scene)
If you've seen the holy grail, they were comparing the dreadfort attack to the attack on the rabbit. More from the silliness than any direct connections. Which is fair, that scene was pretty terrible and made no sense.

you guys are really messing with my head, i couldnt remember Hound's death scene at all. prediction hound will face the mountain, random bounty hunters or the brothers without banners and will tell arya to run for it and we wont see how he ends up. or she ditches him to jump on the ship to braavos and uses her coin.

Probably the random bounty hunters. They set that up with Tywin offering more silver for his head. I can't see him telling Arya to run for it, more like her just seeing an opportunity and taking off. Then we don't see the resolution of the fight and it remains vague, like Syrio Forel. Besides, in the preview for next week it doesn't look like the Mountain is anywhere near where the Hound and Arya are. It looks like he's near King's Landing.
