Unfortunately, a lot of the gripes/questions are just going to come down to "tv show fuckup." They can only have an hour a week and so much time to write each episode.

There are patrols along the wall, they aren't just standing at Castle Black and ignoring the rest. And only certain spots can be climbed anyway.

Again, the key is Mance wants minimal losses. He's trying to save his people, not get them slaughtered.

If we don't see the Jon Connington storyline in the next season it'll be a bit of a spoiler in that we'll know Prince Aegen Targaryen doesn't get anywhere.

But I doubt they'll cut it. We'll have at least one episode with Tyrion fighting turtles and scale disease or something.

No mention of the horn of winter does sort of fuck up things at the Wall. If the crows put up too much of a fight Mance believes he can walk right through without a life lost.

If they climbed the wall a few km away from castle black the crows wouldn't know about it. And it doesn't matter how many men they have on the ground, it'd be the wildling elite climber bros against whatever losers were picked for watch duty.
Except Mance believes the majority of the wall is manned. Plus, as was said, patrols..

Arguing reality ruins the entertainment value for me. Same thing for Walking Dead, shit just happens, people do stupid stuff, just the way TV goes, because it's not fucking real!

Tyrion in 2016!

Also to the mods removing stupid shit posted, thanks. I haven't gotten spoilerd yet visiting this thread.

Yeah for one thing, not mentioning the Horn at all kinda takes the whole reason out of bringing 100k wildings to besiege the wall at castle black at all.... the whole reason was because they had the horn. Maybe they'll explain it later but if they didnt need have the horn they couldve just scaled the wall at an unmanned fort or walked around it at the shore or something.

What?

The wildlings were trying to get away from the white walkers. The ideal situation for them was to get past the wall with it intact, so the white walkers wouldn't be able to get to them. The Horn was the last resort, for if they couldn't get past the Wall.

A big problem with recasting is they really should do it across the board. They already recast Tommen and they'll probably recast Myrcella for s5... so you have a Tommen and Myrcella that aren't too far from how old theyre supposed to be relative to s1 but then you'll have an 18yr-old Arya, 20yr-old Sansa and a 16-yr old Bran. If they haven't already recast Rickon they prolly will since the actor will be about 2 feet taller the next time we see him. Shit they might have to write in a pony or something for Bran in S5, kinda ridiculous watching him on Hodor now.

wasnt the whole reason why the white walkers popped up in the first place because mance woke them up in his search for the Horn of Jaromun? i thought it was the reason why jon goes out to talk to mance. meanwhile it was all a ruse because mance went poking around to look for it, he pissed off the white walkers and never actually found it.

It's not known why the white walkers, dragons, direwolves, magic etc is back. Every differnet culture in both Westeros and Essos has some naive opinion as to the cause, the one Mance has is because he looked for the horn.

The horn was just a bluff anyway.

And the story is better with the kids aging faster. Surely Martin set out to have them be badass young adults by the end of the story.

This. The 5 year gap that originally existed between books 3 and 4 would have aged them up nearly to the show. The aging of the actors will only make the story better.

There's no reason to recast Myrcella. Her actress looks to be in the late teens already. And she's already crowned herself.
