You can put them in spoilers or you can not. I'm no expert on that period of history but they are so loosely associated I wouldn't think about using them as a predictor for what will happen. If someone has an article showing huge events being predicted by the war of roses (Ex: Ned's death, red wedding, battle of blackwater) that might change my mind.

Exactly.

I wouldn't say they are based on the War of the Roses, more like ASoIaF is inspired by the War of the Roses. Honestly, the only corollary is between the Starks/Lannisters and York/Lancastrians. Outside of that, it gets tenuous.

I made a post several months back detailing the rise and fall of House Lancaster and York (ehhhh get it?) and how in the end the last son of House Lancaster ends up on the throne with a Queen who is the last daughter of York. The Red Rose of Lancaster is combined with the White Rose of York to make the Tudor Rose. The symbolism to me is very strong that Tyiron is Henry Tudor, aka Henry VII. Henry's coat of arms included a red dragon. He had strong relations with Wales, aka the Vale Tribes. He had to flee to Brittany (Essos) after Richard III came to power and was supported later in his invasion by the French.

Well, Westeros itself is based on English history--but yeah, it's loose. Westeros is Britain. It starts with the "first men" conquering the Children of the Forest, which is supposed to be the Saxon conquest of Britain--they merge cultures with the Children of the Forest, just like Ethelbert married Bertha to intertwine Roman-Christian culture with Saxon . Then the Andals invade. Those are the Vikings/Danes. One kingdom is able to hold off the Andals, "The North"--in Britain it was Wesex, in both cases the reason the invaders were stopped was because of a large swamp (Alfred, the Anglo-Saxon king hid on an island surrounded by a bog--just as the North used the swamp to defend their lands). In Britain, Wesex and the Vikings agreed to divide up Britain and rule their respective parts, just as "The North" and the Andals did--they also began to intermarry, until essentially they combined, just as the Andals/First Men did.

Then all of Westeros was defeated by the Targaryn's, lead by Aegon the Conqueror. All of Britain was defeated by the Normans, lead by William the Conqueror.

The history very loosely matches up, but he really only uses it for milestones. The characters rarely have a direct reflection (Even William/Aegon are different.)

The previous episode with the warlocks explained that magic/power was tied to the dragons. Don't forget they were essentially extinct until recently, so it makes sense that suddenly certain sects suddenly have access to more power.

Tywin has expressed issues with Tyrion since his introduction in S1/2. Even though he was more cordial, you can tell that the sole reason he is doing it is because he has limited options.

magic in fiction is just a plot device, but I question whether warlocks are in a position to explain why magic returned. The dragons could be a symptom instead of the cause.

Balerion, the Black Dread, is described as having had a wingspan so vast it's shadow would would cover entire towns, teeth as long as swords, andjaws that could swallow a mammoth whole. So they do getpretty pretty prettybig.

Not sure if Balerion's skull is one of the ones in the Red Keep, but one of the skulls is described as big enough for a man on a horse to ride in to it's jaws.

Wiki says Drogon's wings are 20' from tip to tip in ADWD, so painting is definitely off.
If I recall, it was said in the book that the dragons would continue to grow unless they were confined, that's why they built the dragon pits in KL.

Also, no surprise but its been renewed for season 4

Jozu's post in the non-spoiler thread:

lol
I vaguely recall Jozu basically posting all kinds of spoilers in the old no-spoiler threads on FOH under the guise of him not having read the books and just theory-crafting. It was very suspect. Does anyone else remember that or am I just imagining shit?

You could interpret this any way. It could mean that Stannis will marry Daenarys, or Aegon will marry Myrcella, or Tommen will marry Arya.

Maybe I'm just paranoid but I'm starting to get suspicious about something. My girlfriend said something along the lines of "Isn't it weird that Robb fell in love with this random girl and she was so eager to marry him?" It made me think that something bad is going to happen. It could be nothing, and in all likelihood I'm probably just becoming paranoid about people dying off. But I have this fear that she is playing some far bigger plot. I'm willing to bet $5 on it.

Yeah it's a funny problem. Even if Jozu were to clearly lay out what happens as a 'guess', as long as non-book readers think it's a guess it isn't really a spoiler. And if Jozu said, "Boy I bet Robb is getting betrayed at this wedding and blah blah blah" people wouldn't be spoiled. But if someone said to him, "Dude that's a huge spoiler" bam, now it is a spoiler.

Yeah those guys did it on FoH and were fucking faggots then just like they are now. I don't really think it's funny at all, but I'm not gonna go all nazi-mod on them because it amuses GodJanitor Tuco.

The thing is, the TV show lays this shit out much more clearly than the book and it spends more time proportionally on both Robb and how it's a big deal that he's breaking the rules. It's entirely concievable that show watchers correctly predict that Robb is going to get fucked because of the marriage. I do think that so far Robb actually being killed isn't 'likely'.

And for all we know the 5th episode will spoil the whole thing.
