He comes off sort of like a berserker on the show.
In the books he never fought. He was a master strategist and talked a good game. You hear tales of his exploits but never actually see him fight yourself, he'd rather others do it for him.
Fun facts for non book readers; Whenever Euron drank too much, he would enter the bed chamber which his brothers Aeron and Urrigon shared, and sexually molest one of them at random.
While living the life of a pirate he raided Qarth multiple times and captured warlocks and tortured them into teaching him some of their dark arts. When one threatened him, he killed him and fed him to the other three until they were starving to the point they had no choice but to eat him.
He's one of the few known people to walk the ruins of Old Valyria (in search of treasure)
