Ladies and gentlemen, I love this thread. Great ideas from all.

For those above - doesn't have to be Japanese, but I'm kind of on an Asian kick right now. The soups mentioned above look awesome, though. The last time I had a gumbo was at a friends house. He made it with squirrel meat. I'm just a bit off gumbo right now.

Are you suggesting I'm the problem? I'll cut you, bitch. I'll freaking CUT YO.

yeah. It was the squirrel meat. The idea doesn't sit well with me. They're rats with fluffy tails.

Chicken turned out really tender and juicy but was kind of lacking in flavor, nothing salt couldn't fix though. I'll make sure to get some chicken bouillon cubes next time. I'm really wanting to get a taste/texture similar to that of Chipotle Barbacoa.
Try using thighs next time. Chicken breast is one of the more bland substances on the planet.

Anybody cooking for a superbowl party?

I'm going with sliders (buffalo chicken and regular burgers), homemade mini corn dogs, and hot wings if I can get them, along with the usual chips and dip and pickles and such.

Should batter and fry those pickles and serve them with tartar sauce.

I'm still looking for an idea for a super bowl party. Hanky Panky's are good but someone else is already doing that. Might just do buffalo chicken dip.

It isn't at our house so no way I am pre-making sliders or making them at someone elses house. I'm far too lazy for that.

Have you guys ever made pepperoni dip? Buffalo chicken dip is good but it's at every single goddamn party. Pepperoni dip however is fucking delicious and rare. Appreciate your fellow man, make pepperoni dip

Maybe not super original but I've always been a fan of the spinach dip bread bowl to take to someone's house. If you really want to impress them, make the bread yourself using the no-knead method.

Do you have a recipe for it?

Unfortunately, I've never made it. I've only eaten it. This one seems fairly accurate:

Make sure you get a pepperonli log and cut it into nice sized chunks (I wouldn't dice it like the recipe suggests, make chunks) and not slices.

Very simple. My friends always serve it with small slices of italian bread.

That's probably the oddest combination of ingredients I've seen. And one of the comments says she uses cream of celery instead of mushroom.

I'd have to try it, it sounds so odd.

I actually made fried pickles a few nights ago. We had an appetizer for dinner kind of night. Everyone here, from 5 to 40 years old, loves fried pickles. Very easy to do, too. I tend to make them with a dry coating of at least 50% corn meal.

Anyone ever tried to make Scotch eggs? I'd like to try those.

The pepperoni dip doesn't look great and the ingredients do sound strange, I'll give you guys that. The first time I ever tried it I had no idea what to expect. And then I ate damn near the whole bowl of it. I could eat that shit with a spoon. It's delicious. Give it a try. It's so simple and so cheap to make you might as well see if you like it.
