Are you insulting someone for being annoyed about something unconstitutional being passed based solely on ignorance and emotion?
Calling it unconstitutional is a bit of a stretch. Also, could you lay off the retarded 'hurr durr liberals want to ban guns' talking point? Pretty sure I'm not the only pro-gun liberal in this thread.

First, no, that wasn't the source of my annoyance. The source of my annoyance is him harping at 1 fucking crackpot senator and playing the "oh woe is me !!!" victim card and then citing to the same crackpot senator to fuel his conspiracy theory that the gov'ment is comin to get his guns. The AWB expired 10 years ago; it ain't coming back. He needs to stop being a whinny little bitch.

Second: While I think the AWB was a shitty and stupid idea, it sure as hell wasn't unconstitutional. It may be your opinion than it was unconstitutional, hell, it may be my opinion that it was unconstitutional, but our opinions mean dick. The only opinions that mater when it comes to the constitutionality of laws passed by congress is that of the SCOTUS. I don't really blame you for this if you're just expressing your opinion, but I've had enough of the armchair constitutional scholars to last me a lifetime from the Obamacare fiasco.

Well, my annoyance is with people like you acting like we should just blithely sit back and wait to see what they pass before getting worked up. It isn't just Feinstein that is for an outright ban and I am not comforted by your assertion that the AWB won't ever come back. If the AWB isn't pushed forward in the next few weeks, it will partially be because people got worked up about it and called/emailed/signed up for the NRA. Certainly right after Newtown we had alot of people saying they needed to do a harsher version of the AWB.

Who said anything about sitting back and not acting until something is passed ? But right now, we don't even know what was recommended by Biden to Obama and we don't know what agenda Obama will push. We don't knowanything. When you don't even know what they are even going to TRY to pass, getting upset is a waste of time and oxygen.

And please, give up on beating the Feinstein pinata. To say that the government will take away our guns because Feinstein wants to pass an AWB is like saying the government wants to put African Americans back into chains because Ron Paul wants to repeal the Civil Rights Act.

Term limits for the Senate and House would really prevent stupid legislation like this from happening. The fact that a decrepit creature like Feinstein has been a senator since fucking November of 1992 is insane beyond words. When you have people like her sitting there with a stack of paper just waiting for the opportune moments to jump on an emotional high to promote their agenda, there's a major flaw in the system.

^ And that's how we got Homeland Security. Not to be confused with Vaterland Security. That was the Gestapo.

There's no way that New York bill will ever pass. Yes, lets have the police raid the homes of mentally ill gun owners at the discretion of their physician. Nothing bad can possibly come from that. I wouldn't want to be the first cop through the door on any of those raids, nor would I want to be the physician. Not at home and the cops raid your house? First stop is the doctor's office before jail.

This NY law is so dumb...you can keep 10 rounder mags you have, but only put 7 rounds in (seriously).

This NY law is so dumb...you can keep 10 rounder mags you have, but only put 7 rounds in (seriously).

Complete text of law.

http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?def...mmary=Y&Text=Y

According to the actual words in the law they expect to call people with a pistol permit and have them turn in their magazines.

Bans the buying of ammo from mail order/internet. All ammo purchases must be made via a licensed in state/in person ammo dealer and requries a NICS background check and a possible waiting period. All ammo sales will be forwarded to the state police.

IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL FOR A PERSON TO KNOWINGLY POSSESS AN AMMUNITION
43 FEEDING DEVICETHAT SUCH PERSON LAWFULLY POSSESSED BEFORE THE EFFECTIVE
44 DATE OF THE CHAPTER
OF THE LAWS OF TWO THOUSAND THIRTEEN WHICH ADDED
45 THIS SECTION, THAT HAS A CAPACITY OF, OR THAT CAN BE READILY RESTORED OR
46 CONVERTED TO ACCEPT MORE THAN SEVEN BUT LESS THAN TEN ROUNDS OF AMMUNI-
47 TION, WHERE SUCH DEVICE CONTAINS MORE THAN SEVEN ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION.

Passed 43-18 and 95% of those who voted for it have no clue what is in it.

Not sure if it made the final bill but in a previous version earlier tonight you had till summer to register all guns and failure to do so was a 25 year max felony.

Handguns with a removable magazine qualify as an assault weapon.

Rundown stolen from ARFCOM.

* ban on pre 1994 mags with cap of 11 or more
* ban on mags over 7 rounds
* background checks on all ammo purchases
* mental health reporting which is to be checked against the (new??) gun registry database
* 1 feature test for AW. Bushmaster AR banned by name
* 10 round mags to be grandfathered in but may only be loaded with 7 rounds (read elsewhere this will be a misdemeanor)
* all sales of ammo from registered ammo dealers to be reported to local police
* background check on all ammo purcahses
* ban of direct internet ammo purchases
* ammo purchases to go through FFL
* five year renewable registration for AW and handguns

Pretty much the only thing it doesn't ban in one way or the other is a bolt action rifle (with a blind box as long as it doesn't have a detachable magazine) and revolvers. Everything else is hit in some way or the other including semi auto and pump shotguns. Pretty much from the list nothing semi auto will pass the requirements they have listed.

New York State banned firearms that the federal government sells thru the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) to citizens...

Example of a turkey hunting shotgun - now banned in the state of New York.

How the fuck does something like that pass 43-18? So fucking glad I don't live in NY heh.

So yeah Soysauceonrice, this is why we get worked up about this shit. "No one is after a complete ban on guns" indeed.

The list of guns that are actually legal is pretty tight, in fact I've been following threads where other legislators and attornies have been trying to read thru the descriptions and everytime one comes up with a gun that falls thru the cracks another finds a section that bans it for another reason.

CT has a law the will vote on at some point that will ban the posession (not just the purchase) of any firearm that is not a single shot.

Apparently in NY now posession of a pre 1994 magazine with a capacity of 11 or more is illegal and punishable with a max of a 25 year prison term and posession of a firearm that meets the assault weapon test - any ONE of the following (Flash hider, pistol grip, folding stock, handguards - YEAH HANDGUARDS or has a fully automatic counterpart) is punishable with a sentence greater than life.

Hmmm

"It is well-balanced, it protects the Second Amendment," said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos of Long Island. "And there is no confiscation of weapons, which was at one time being considered."
