This paragraph from GA should be sent to every legislator in America:

For those of us fighting for our traditional rights, the US 2nd Amendment is a rare light in an ever darkening room. Governments will use the excuse of trying to protect the people from maniacs and crime, but are in reality, it is the bureaucrats protecting their power and position. In all cases where guns are banned, gun crime continues and often increases. As for maniacs, be it nuts with cars (NYC, Chapel Hill NC), swords (Japan), knives (China) or home made bombs (everywhere), insane people strike. They throw acid (Pakistan, UK), they throw fire bombs (France), they attack. What is worse, is, that the best way to stop a maniac is not psychology or jail or "talking to them", it is a bullet in the head, that is why they are a maniac, because they are incapable of living in reality or stopping themselves.

The problem with a gun law in America is that we're already so deep in the hole for one to actually work, would require a huge undertaking and possibly more problems then the government wants to endure. If we put it into law, what do you think is going to happen to all the guns that everyone already owns, magically disappear? Nope, they're not going anywhere, and most people will still hold them even if it can be penalized pretty harshly. The ONLY way a gun law would work is if it is enforced with a confiscation sweep with every single documented weapon that becomes outlawed, or they make the penalty so harsh, that people are terrified to hold onto their weapons.

Neither of those will happen, and neither will a gun law that actually works, so whatever to it. I think a gun law is a great idea that definitely does work, but it just won't work in America.

Because that works so well with illegal drugs....

Just make possession of a firearm a capital offence, and then sell licences to people for the purpose of bounty-hunting gun owners (while neglecting to mention that the license in no way removes the crime of gun ownership).

Then put it all on pay-per-view. It'd be like deathmatching but in real life and only affecting stupid people.

Funny, considering some of the things you and General Coward have said and done on these forums, some people might classify you both as being mentally unstable, even disturbed. Would you both be so willing to hold that view in the quote if it was deemed that YOU were the so called 'maniac'. What if we decided we no longer wanted to 'talk to you' and just settle things? After all, its only a matter of time before a maniac like you or General Dumbass acts out on his claims, and well, we just can't have that happen. But of course, its all for the greater good, for a better future for our children and all that jazz.

I'd rather we hang all the legislators from tree branches than send them a letter. Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.

Case in point: Clear and continued threats of violence against the government, delusions of grandeur, an inabiltiy to live in reality... according to the very article he posted, that makes him a maniac. Might as well round up the posse, get his RL info form Tuco and go do our patriotic duty.

You'd think it would also make the kids a little more hesitant to start shit with teachers, an added bonus.
You are delusional if you think this is a good thing. Do we really want to have our kids grow up in a police state? Scared of the teacher with the gun...?

We need to remember that these mass shootings are anomalies. You cannot possibly defend against them all. You can't put armed guards in EVERY single school- nor can you arm all teachers.

Yeah, Utah does it. Hope it works out well for them. I am glad the rest of the US has not adopted this policy. I truly believe it would be the wrong decision on so many levels.

You pro-gun people talk about knee-jerk reactions of banning all guns, well I feel strongly that arming teachers and the idea of putting guards in every school is also a knee-jerk reaction on the same level of stupid.

Once again, nobody is talking about 'arming teachers'. People are talking about allowing properly trained and certified people to carry their firearm in school, just like they can carry it everywhere else, IF THEY SO CHOOSE.

Two things Gavinrad.

Number one, yes some in this thread, and many outside this thread are talking about arming teachers. It just came up in Michigan a few weeks ago and thankfully it was vetoed by our Gov.

Number two, properly trained and certified.... come on. What does it honestly take to get a CC license? I am not sure if the CC requirements are different state to state, but the requirements that I have heard in the past are not even a small speed bump. Christ my grandparents have CC and that scares the everliving christ out of me. How they managed to accomplish that shows the lack of any real barriers.

I'm more afraid of grandparents who shouldn't be still driving than I am of grandma with her .38 snub nose in her purse.

Amazing how a tragedy gets people so willing to sign away some of their rights for some half ass illusion of security.

Well, for the sake of argument, a lot more infrastructure is required to manufacture and deliver guns than drugs and alcohol. You can't grow a 9mm. in your closet.
No you can not grow a gun in your closet, true. But all guns and ammo are not manufactured in America either. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6294242.stm) Ask the drug dealers how hard it is to setup a delivery system.
