Oh, one more thing to new players. NEVER spend gold on card packs. You'll get more value running arenas because they always guarantee a card pack even if you win zero games.
Ha wish I had known that! Thanks for all the replies, exactly what I was looking for.

That's not expressly true, but it's pretty close now. If you're only goal is to get more cards then packs are more efficient unless you're going at least like 4 wins or more in arena. While 4 wins isn't a lot, it might be tough for someone just starting out.

Plus playing those arena games takes time, and if you're just interested in constructed, you might as well buy packs. I blew ?20 or so on packs one night because I wanted to kickstart my collection and have the ability to make some basic decks without missing 15 commons. I've also bought a few packs with gold since I've gone more than break-even from arena. It's nice for having something to play against friends, since we can't use arena decks for that (BLIZZ PLZ).

But yeah, if you want to spend as little as possible, and have fun playing arena, saving all your gold for arena is better value for money.

I just got into the beta. Scared to start. Only reason I stopped playing Magic was financial, and now I have a job :p god help me if I figure out a way to play it at work (pretty sure it'd be really easy actually)
If you don't mind building up your collection slowly you can get all the cards you would want for little to no money. Playing a healthy mix of constructed and arena it isn't difficult to do infinite arenas to build up your collection. If you play a lot and have bad arena runs you might have to purchase an arena entry though. Also you earn a decent chunk of gold in the beginning to do several arena runs before you may potentially run out of gold. In about 6-8 weeks? I've spent about $32 on the game, $20 in packs to get the promotional card and to support the game, and I purchased about 6 arena entries, but I've been playing the game a lot, ~3 hours an evening and more on weekends. If you play less so you have less time for arenas/takes longer to complete them it is easy to not spend a dime on them.

I personally love the cheese. I grinned the first time I dropped a post-patch Dragonling Mechanic. Also, dropping legendaries and having them taunt your opponent is the best (ex. Cairne tells Garrosh that he's not fit to fit to rule the horde and Illidan says "hello, brother..." to Malfurion)

I have been saying all along you should be allowed to "save" up to 3 arena decks at any given time to play against your friends with. Nothing is worse than getting a really cool Arena deck and then doing badly before you get your fill of fun from playing it. What harm would there be in allowing us to do that? It would make people play more often and enhance the overall experience and hype of the game, you'd be nagging your friends to log on and it'd be so much fun to play against your friends to show off your various arena decks and also test things.

I just got a 2nd invite on the same account (sold the last key for $29.99

). Interesting. Maybe it's because they saw the code was claimed, but not on the account they sent it to? Or that the code was never claimed on the account they sent it to? Strange to get 2 invites on the same account. But yay. Guess I can finally start a new account that isn't my girlfriends. Strangely enough I am enjoying this game enough and the progression enough that I don't mind starting over.

So frustrating trying to GIVE BLIZZARD MY MONEY. I can't get a Paypal sync'd to my girlfriend's account, as I get an error every time that tells me to try again later. And I can't do it on this new account because it's my American bnet account and I want to play on American servers anyways since the packs are cheaper, but the SMS will only let me add an American phone number, but I'm in the UK and I can't change the region of my bnet account. Anyone have any advice?

So remember what I said about seeing a lot of Russian sounding names and those players playing horrible and slowly and possibly laggy? Yeah my worst nightmare has come true. Is every F2P game doomed to be infested with Russians? Winter is coming...

I'm not sure why there is still a limit on decks still.

They should give us multiple pages to build constructed decks on.

Wow, apparently at the higher ranks pretend AFK is a strat. Skip a turn and let the timer run out, hope the guy overextends his board, sweep. Seeing it on streams.

It's not sad it's smart...if it works. Not like it will last anyway, everyone will know this method and no one will assume their opponent is afk.

Its funny how this new rank system works. You can really plan ahead imho.

When you get to the area where the agro decks are just feeding off themselves. rank 17- 14?
You can play a mage combo/spell power deck, and make some excellent progress.

I feel like 80% of heartstone players only know how to play the agro/weenie/rush decks, and anything outside of that they are totally lost.
Which puts a more experienced player at a major advantage.

Ugh I never played the tutorial before. Really, really tedious and long and over the top. So stupid it makes you go through all of this to do just about anything.

It's not sad it's smart...if it works. Not like it will last anyway, everyone will know this method and no one will assume their opponent is afk.
You've got to be kidding right? You think that's smart? I feel really bad for you if you feel like pretending to be AFK and stalling and having bad manners is a legitimate strategy and smart.
