What is stupid is everyone playing the same retarded delay Mage deck, especially on this forum, and considering themselves a cut above the rest. Nope nope nope.

Afking a round and punishing your opponent is smart if it does work. That is why you don't stop playing until the game is over and I'd consider the person going all in hilariously bad if they fell for such a stupid thing. That kind of shit is used is all kinds of games.. shooters, MOBAs, etc.

I guess I prefer to play games with integrity and skill rather than with gimmicks. The idea of pretending to be AFK to trick someone for a turn is just silly to me. I suppose you could call it "smart" if you want to win at any cost, but that train of thought could take you to all sorts of silly places. It's like saying it's smart to throw a tantrum in front of your girlfriend because if it works, it's the right thing to do. It's just stupid at the end of the day.

I 100% agree with you about the delay Mage deck though. No skill whatsoever. It's just another flavor of the month netdeck in a card game, where the mediocre players get a tiny glimpse of being good and a little five minutes of fame or whatever. It'll be fixed and then they'll be back to being average (at least most of the players copying/using that deck). but right now they really need to feel like they are good, so meh, go for it. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Ugh I never played the tutorial before. Really, really tedious and long and over the top. So stupid it makes you go through all of this to do just about anything.
You've got to be kidding right? You think that's smart? I feel really bad for you if you feel like pretending to be AFK and stalling and having bad manners is a legitimate strategy and smart.
Funny, I feel bad for you because you bitch abouteverything. This must be your first TCG.

Integrity doesn't win wars. The afk thing is fucking genius and hilarious, but the cat is out of the bag on it now.

Reminds me of early SC2 multiplayer where I would steal wins from people as Terran by killing my own SCVs and flying my base in to the corner while spamming chat with bullshit like "ERROR 41 PLAYER NOT FOUND". Was absolutely amazing how much it worked and people would just quit after scouting all the start locations.

I still find it funny that no matter what the game is, always someone calling something out as taking "no skill" (AWP, "insert class", Thompson, etc)

I personally wouldn't say mages burn decks require no skill, they require a decent bit to know when you have to freeze and when you can take damage and shit(unless you have an obscene hand but that's similar for most decks really). What it is however is extremely unfun to play against. In MTG I never felt the burn decks were that bad, back when I played at least, cause there were so many shit that would ruin the deck. Destroy lands? Have fun never casting your fireballs for more than 3-4damage. Discard? Oh you needed that spell to do damage? Suck it. Also it was harder to keep both the control aspect and the burn aspect in harmony, because of the color system and shit. In Hearthstone, it's very simple to play both blizzards/cone of colds/ice blocks/frost armors/sheep/whatever along with fireball/pyroblast/giants/whatever, since all the mana is the same.

It's also strong because there aren't many different things you can do in the game, there is a kinda mill deck but it works so so in this game since you can't prevent people from playing stuff as much/can't remove their mana, mostly the game is you either equip weapon and kill shit, drop mobs then kill shit, use spells to do direct damage to kill shit, use spells that are pure removal(few of these overall and fairly class specific) or use chargers(mobs that act like spells, other than they can't bypass taunt which sucks a lot quite often). Most of it is countered by mage decks.

That said I've read a few posts on reddit from people playing slow heal decks doing well against mages. They lose badly against aggro locks or aggro rogues, but since mages are so dominant currently, if you win most of your mage games you're still gonna be way positive. That's one thing I feel is different from MTG, there's a lot less potential spells in your deck(max 2 per deck vs iirc max 4 for MTG) and you have more health too. So it makes it hard to sustain the assault as a mage unless giant play, but most slow decks can deal with giants, either with big game hunter, superior big mobs, direct removal or direct nukes(starfire+wrath or avenging wrath+hammer of wrath kill giants/rag/anything with 8 for example).

Based on streams and what I am personally am running into, most common decks are late-game Druids (hard counter to Mages, assuming you draw your heals they can't do enough damage) stall Priests (Ancient Watcher/Sunfury/Argus, just wait till you get Ysera/Rag, win), mid-late range Paladins running tricks like Equality+Consecrate, Wild Pyromancer+Equality. Everyone except Mages is running Sylvanas and some of them to. Faerie Dragons are in every deck because of all the direct removal. Warlock aggro is still around but if you stabilize against it with healing, they lose, so loses to Paladin and Druid a lot, loses to control Mage, 50/50 vs Rogue aggro. This is between ranks 11-4.

Also several people playing around with Giants in other deck types. Rags are everywhere, so run a Big Game Hunter if you don't have another hard removal option. Will also help vs Druids. Black Knight is a strong option if you run into a lot of Druids or Priest.

A well crafted Paladin deck is a hard counter to Mages too. Especially with Guardian of Kings (5/6 with Battlecry: Restore 6 health to your hero), Truesilver Champions for minion removal/healing, Lay On Hands (8 health and 3 cards). Consecrations are useful for taking out Mirror Images and the common 2 health minions (faerie dragons, knife jugglers and so on) while whittling down the mage. And as efficient as Mage AOE is, paladins have an infinite source of weenies (and with the buff cards they have available it's inevitable that one will slip through eventually).

Looking for a beta key for my brother if anyone has one floating around I would appreciate it. Thanks

Edit: Also did Blizz ever officially answer if you get paired up with same match score in arena or does it fluctuate? Like if I have 2 wins and 2 losses will I play someone that is the same or just close/ based on wins?

If I'm ever too busy to sit down and play Hearthstone, I just flip a coin and get the same general gameplay experience out of that.

I seriously cannot believe that several of you are defending the "pretend to be AFK" "strategy" as if it is legitimate and smart. I mean it's absolutely hilarious, you are one step away from hackers or people that purposefully crash the game or create an infinite turn. You're absolutely pathetic. What is the point of playing the game for you? Do you enjoy climbing the ranks? Why? Ask yourself why you enjoy climbing the ranks, isn't it because you like the accomplishment and the feeling of being a good player when you get to a higher rank? How can you still feel that way if you didn't win by skill, but by a gimmick or a hack or a bug? Seriously? I am in awe that so many of you think it's a good idea lol, it's pretty sad. You are probably the little shits that everyone hates in real life at Magic tournaments or whatever because you mark your sleeves/cards and cheat, cos by your logic, "it's smart/right if it works."

So not only can I not sync a Paypal account to my girlfriend's European account, but I can't do it with my new American account either, getting an error. And on top of that, I can't even add a payment method for a more immediate way to add balance, because again, another different error. What the FUCK!? I've tried multiple browsers (when you google it, it says try another browser, does NOT work). I can't add balance to save my fucking life, and I even managed to get SMS working by sending it to a friend, and yet still, errors every time I try to do anything involving money. Does anyone fucking know what the problem is? Surely other people have had this issue? I mean it makes 0 sense why my account would be any different from anyone else's and why I'd be getting all these god damn errors.

If I'm ever too busy to sit down and play Hearthstone, I just flip a coin and get the same general gameplay experience out of that.
Hahaha.

Nothing hurts as much as losing to stupid people in a "skill" based game. Guy attacked into a divine shit only to shadow word death that minion that turn. So bad.

Fuck yeah. Finally some good luck. I started my new beta key last night to have my own accout rather than playing GF's. Done about 5 drafts so far, first 4 packs were just 1 rare, and then I opened this:

The irony is that I really wanted Ysera for my Druid deck on my GF's account, but what a good start. Fuck yeah that was exciting to open. I feel so giddy right now. Ysera was always the legendary I wanted the most. The good thing is I actually might be able to use Leeroy, considering how many buffs/taunt Druid has.

And you're perma on your period apparently, bitch bitch bitch. "No luck this" or "you're pathetic if you don't side with my point of view that".

In other news, the whole arena bug won't get fixed until next week, leaving tons of people unable to play arena. Too funny.

Except it's not saying "you're pathetic if you don't side with my point". It's saying, "you're pathetic if you think tricking your opponent into not playing so that you can win by default" is a real strategy and is something you think is smart to do. It's different from maybe playing mind games or pretending to be bad and then beating your opponent, or bluffing or whatever, but tricking them into NOT playing? You must have 0 dignity. I'm not saying it's not funny or that you shouldn't do it, I'm saying that calling it "smart" and acting like it's a legitimate strategy or that it's some creative genius playstyle is just stupid.

What is the Arena bug I haven't seen? I got stuck not being able to log on last night because Hearthstone thought another game was updating, even though it wasn't. That was annoying. And earlier I wasn't able to play ANYTHING from my hand because a Rogue bounced a creature into my hand that caused a card draw at the same time. Not being able to play at all sucks.
