Since I am 60 on my Mage and don't plan on playing it till the other classes are capped out, D/Eed the changed cards. I am sure I'll get them back in packs before I have to play it again. Still working on laddering as Priest. Fluctuating between rank 9-10.
From what I can tell the 1 gig is just a 'base' version where you re-download most of the game and then they will patch that base version. So expect these every once in a long while.
Made a constructed pally deck, tried to put in as many legendaries as I could for fun. I have actually faired quite well with it. Have a bloodmage, sylvanas, Cairne, Hogger, Tirion, Alexstraza, and Ysera. Managed to have Tirion an Alexstraza and 2 Ysera (faceless) on the board one game.
Running a deck with almost nothing but legendaries is a thing. Usually people do it as Druid, for Innervates. You can Innervate an Alarm-o-Bot turn 1 and get a turn 2 Deathwing (without the Battlecry!). It actually does surprisingly well when it works, because most people don't run enough cards to answer multiple legendaries. I was watching a stream of a guy at rank 4 who was on a losing streak (down from 3) and did it to fuck around, ranked back up to 3.
Kripp said something pretty interesting on his stream... he thinks ranking up is primarily a matter of dodging the strong counters to your deck, especially for ranks 9-18 or so. So whatever deck you make is just going to lose in certain match ups, but if you get lucky and don't queue against those decks, you'll rank up. Thinking about some of my decks... I might agree.
I'm 1 star from rank 11 now playing Savjz's deck. Really flexible, gives you a lot of chances to outplay opponents. I don't have the full list so I replaced Tinkmaster and Black Knight. I tried to fill the same mana costs so went with Mind Control Tech and Force of Nature. FoN has been pretty good so far, managed a few 3 for 1s with it.
Was talking to a guy I made friends with when he played, he is Legendary now. He ran a Warlock rush deck all the way up... his current iteration has nothing over 4 mana.
I tried decks like that a while ago. Most games I found that I lost when my board got AE'ed then the opponent started dropping high health taunters. Maybe it's worth trying again based on decks people are playing now.
I think it combines with the thing Kripp said. Ranking up is a matter of getting lucky by not running into your counter decks, but I think individual ranks have their own meta that defines how often that'll happen. So the best way of ranking up is to play the deck that is going to beat, on average, the meta of the ranks you're currently in. At rank 8 so far it is closer to 50/50 with the Warlock deck, even though I was just crushing with it up to rank 8. It seems as if the stuff I am losing to is mid-range decks with aggressive board AE tricks (even a bunch of people running Mad Bomber and Pyromancers are everywhere), which would lose to late-game decks, which is what I know people run in ranks 6 and lower based on watching streams. That is really interesting to me.
I don't doubt it. You basically insta-win so many games with the Warlock Aggro. If you stick a turn 1 Flame Imp and your opponent ships it back to you I bet the win rate is north of 80%. I still believe Blood Imp is the most broken card in the deck.
It's the best 1 drop in the game for sure, and it will absolutely punish the fuck out of people playing slower decks or that don't ship back slow starting hands, of which there are a lot.
