Nah, there is a ranking system that is working, but it is hard to really tell anything based off of your current rank currently and you can't rank down. But it is currently using a ranking system similar to sc2's, you have a hidden mmr number, you gain points for beating someone around your mmr level, you gain more points for beating someone at a higher level, and you lose more points for getting beat by someone at a lower level. They have come to realize a system like this doesn't really work in hearthstone so they are changing it.last I heard, the ranking just isnt in yet. so you basically rank up every win. and max out currently.
Why wouldn't that work for Hearthstone? That's (roughly) how MTG and Chess ratings work.Nah, there is a ranking system that is working, but it is hard to really tell anything based off of your current rank currently and you can't rank down. That would be easy to cheat the system. Play a match, then spend 30 seconds instant conceding 3 in a row to lower your rating. Then play again against someone lower than you should for an easy win / gold. Repeat. If they make ranking actually matter, like weekly rewards for higher rank or whatever, it wouldn't be a problem. As of right now though, the only thing increasing your ranking does is make it harder to win games and complete quests. Why wouldn't that work for Hearthstone? The Paladin deck I just had was insane. Ravenholdt Assassin that could get to 30 attack on the 8th turn without too much luck. Nothing they can do about it when you summon a stealth and slowly buff it up or just do it all in one go and have infinite 1/1's you can fuck with them and hold off in the mean time. I think Paladin is by far the best arena deck. I had 3 truesilver champions as well, so good.Yeah, I really don't enjoy how unbalanced decks in arena can get, they need a better format. Clearly there is some skill involved or people like ek0p wouldn't have a 70-80% win rate in arena (his win rate is high enough that he has like 4,000+ gold banked last I checked), but sometimes the RNG of which cards you can pick just screws you.
Exactly. In a MTG sealed/draft you all had the same amount of rares/uncommons/commons. The only difference being recently with the small chance to get a mythic instead of rare, MAYBE 2 once in a fucking lifetime. But with Hearthstone, you can get no epics/legendaries and only a few rares, or you can get 20 legendaries. it's fucking retarded.I find the selection for arena to be really bizarre. The other day trump got 6? rare draws in a row, up front, and more rare+ later. I get 3 non common cards on average. My 8 win was with a druid basic+2 blue deck, which only beat people who received worse cards than me. And lost only to people who received multiples of purple and legendary and rare. Not "or" they got multiples for all of the above. Very rarely do I or my opponent outplay each other. It feels like an arena in the sense of Roman gladiator entertainment. Will you get full body armor and a shield? Will your opponent be a naked half-dead slave with one arm missing?
I'd love it if they added real Sealed deck competition. Or at least min-max on uncommon draw.
you could say that they got the blessing of a king thereYou go against nothing but paladin and priests with legendaries and top decking like fucking kings.
From what I've read about MtG's Sealed format, that's what I would like Arena to emulate. They shouldn't, but the draft simply shouldn't be random. Game is random enough already with the draw or the cards you draft, having rarity being random during the draft also is stupid. Give every deck 1 legendary and 2-3rares or whatever the numbers should be, doesn't really matter it can be fine tuned.
I suck, but I'd be up for this assuming the rules/format wasn't retarded.Would anyone be interested in a Rerolled Hearthstone tournament? Just for fun, no prize or anything (unless Tuco wants to offer a custom title).
It'd be probably be TL's format. So 3 decks of 3 different classes. If you lose with a deck you have to switch. Bo3 till up to quarter finals, Bo5 after.I suck, but I'd be up for this assuming the rules/format wasn't retarded.
