I'm somehow considering going for legend this month with freeze mage. Gonna see if tempo can get me to 10ish quick then decide.

Anyway this is the first time in several seasons I've actually laddered instead of just doing my dailies and quitting, and I forgot how much RNG ruins this fucking game. Sick to death of 4 point implosions and perfect juggles. Or both together.
I'm on the opposite end. My implosions have been shitty for the past week. Had to move on to another couple decks just to keep playing. Forgot how fun Patron and Flamewaker were while riding the Zoo train for a few weeks. Also helped me to play past my daily and a couple extra games too.

Edit- Dragon Pally was fun but as you mention, not very good once you moved up.

Implosion seems like the worst rng card since the results are doubled. Would be nice if they could rework it.

I like the idea of making the damage and summon inverses of the result. Hit for 4 damage summon 2 imps, then hit for 2 damage summon 4 imps.

RNG is bad but honestly I hate hate hate the bullshit wins from hand. Druid infuriates me to no end. They always emperor into force+2x savage for 22-30 points of damage. It's so easy to read and yet if draws are shit there's absolutely nothing you can do.

RNG balances out good & bad draws imo. A card game is going to have RNG by nature. If there weren't cards with RNG then winners would simply be determined by draw & decks. It would be a more strict rock/paper/scissors. At least RNG cards help allow Scissors to beat Rock from time-to-time. I really don't understand the issue tbh, I've never been fucked that hard by RNG shit. Sure, you hit a bad streak once in a while or something rolls high, but it's still infinitely better than 22 damage from hand. At least with RNG you have a chance.

Freeze mage & Patron warrior & face hunter can also be equally as frustrating, almost none of those relies on RNG cards.

Except when RNG combines with good draws and you just get blown out. I was in a match earlier against demonlock, and after a struggle I managed to get his board clear with a flamewaker out on my side.

He responds with a 4 damage implosion on my flamewaker and I lose the game right there. It was a terrible play and if he hadn't gotten 4 damage I would have just cleared his board again and still had my flamewaker. Instead he gets a 1 out of 3 and wins the game.

I always thought freeze mage was more of a tournament deck than ladder deck, its an auto loss to any warrior who knows what they are doing.

I agree implosion is one of the most frustrating cards in the game to both play with and against. It is one of those cards that has really turned me off to hearthstone.

I have to say though, I probably get the most enjoyment out of this game building an unusual deck and completely having someone's number with it. I don't play this game enough to hit legend/every time I get close rng bitch slaps me back down so no point in trying anymore. Need to get rogue to 60 so I made a tempo dragon rogue deck, play tested it ~10 games in casual before making a couple of changes and putting it in ranked and went 3/3, just good draws, had my opponent's number throughout the whole game each game and the last guy gives me a well played because he knows he just got annihilated by a deck you never see.

I normally do and I had the same thought after awhile. But when its something entirely new I like to play a few games to make sure it is at least somewhat viable/get a feel of how to mulligan. While rank isn't that important to me, still got to win games for them dailies.

Yeah I love gold cards but I'm still missing enough playable legends that there's no way I'll actually spend dust crafting them.

Still regret some of the golds I dusted back before I started saving all of them, like my playset of golden mirror entities because 'this card sucks and nobody will ever play it'.
RIP. Golden Mirror Entity is my single favorite golden. It looks amazing, and the clone is golden, it's great. Thoughtsteal is a close 2nd.

Nah, it's viable on the ladder and thanks to Thaurissan it's no longer an autolose to control warrior. Still pretty heavily favored for the warrior, but not 95-5 like it used to be. Probably more like 80-20. Does ok against patron warrior, and does fine against the rest of the field. Pure face hunters will wreck you if you don't get your ice barriers going, but hybrid and midrange hunters are generally slow enough that you can stall the board and combo off in time with a decent draw.

I typically don't rage at this game. I get it. Card game. RNG. Bad matchups. Whatever. But I just had two games in a row where I just never stood a chance. Dead by Turn 5. Priest hit his Lightspawn with PW:S and two Divine Spirits as quickly as possible. I had no answer. Then another game where a Hunter had two Scavenging Hyena, Webspinner combos happen right at the beginning where again I had no answer. I even managed to SW: D one of them but it only made the other one bigger. Fuck. Shit sucked.

Priest is just a terrible deck in this meta. Priest might actually be back to worst deck in the game again.

I haven't tried patron warrior yet, but I'm just missing way too many critical cards for a lot of the other main decks. It's really why I stick to arena. I have functional zoolock and face hunter decks. But those are boring. I want to beat people with fun to play and awesome cards.

I still had reasonable luck with a variation of the Sajvfjksj control priest a while ago, but I built up a bunch of gold and have been binging on terrible arena runs more than ladder.

I'm wondering what they're going to do with arena as they add more sets. You can really see the quality disparity of decks grow as the card pool increases and you get more "contextual" cards like the dragon stuff. They're iffy at best in constructed and so much worse in arena. Drafts in MTG are usually super restricted as far as card pools go, the arena pool already feels less... fun, I guess, with the increased pool.
