My biggest problem with Hearthstone is the Dust --> Card creation ratio. I have spent $120 on Vanilla, $25 on Naxx, and $60 so far on GvG. I play all the time, and generally buy a new pack anytime I have 100g. I decided day 1 that I would never collect gold cards and I disenchant them anytime I have 2 of the regular version already.

With the amount of time and money spent, I should have a decent supply of dust, but when I think about it, I have maybe crafted 6 cards total (1 legendary, 1 epic, 4 rares). How the hell can you put this much time and money into a game and have so little to show for it?

The launch of a new expansion is exciting, but it doesn't take long for the feeling that "this is all more trouble and frustration than it is worth" to set in.

Exactly my point. I feel I could drop another $100 on packs and I would still be woefully short of what I need/want and the dust/card ratio is so terrible that disenchanting extras really doesn't help much either. It's too bad it's so god damn addictive and fun.

I would gladly plop down $10-$20 for a couple of the specific legendaries I want, but that option doesn't exist and I have to gamble a large chunk of money in hopes of getting them.

I'm right there with ya buddy. I've wanted to play a competitive warrior deck since I got into the beta nearly a year ago but I've never had the right cards. I've spent some cash, but not enough, and I don't play enough with other decks to grind out gold/arenas. Sure I could get rank 10 in a night with this shitty face hunter, but it just becomes a chore.

It'll probably be the same with HotS. The gold gain is shit and eventually I'll get tired of the grind. Heres hoping Blizzard doesn't poop all over Overwatch!

Many people did, but unless you're botting free accounts to try and pawn off on the unsuspecting I don't think its worth since they permaban you now if you're caught.

Wait, how much time have you put into it? Your story doesn't ring true. I find it difficult to believe that you've put $205 dollars into this game, DE every golden, play all the time, and can't construct quite a few legendary decks.

It's because his story is bullshit. I spent 100 bucks on classic packs, have been f2p ever since, I keep my golds, and I could play any viable deck pre GvG. Post GvG I'm way behind because in addition to new generally good legendaries, one or two old legendaries have gotten a lot better. For example, Antonidas is really strong now, whereas he was pretty much shit before the introduction of spare parts.

Yeah that doesn't sound right at all. I have put a grand total of $20 into this game, only play Arena and do the dailies and that is it, and I have crafted a bunch of legendaries, epics and rares.

Agreed. I spent around $150 in classic bought Naxx for $25 then spent another $50 on GVG (going to buy some more after Christmas). I stopped drafting when the game released and I have 2x of every card and almost every classic legendary minus the obviously bad ones (Gruul Onyxia whom I disenchant when i pull them)

I have been "foiling" out my decks by making Golden versions of highly played cards (Undertaker,Harvest Golem,Loot Hoarder etc etc etc) and I had enough to make a few legendaries when GVG was released.

I've spent THOUSANDS when I played Magic so spending $300 on hearthstone a game I've been playing for well over a year is nothing. I don't understand the f2p people who complain about grinding gold. What other card game lets you do that?

I might have spent $200 - $300 total on the game and I've been able to acquire nearly a full set of classic cards, even without disenchanting golds. I don't buy that story either. Just do dailies and arenas and you shouldn't have a problem.

Here's the thing, a lot of us don't give a fuck if it's a CCG and what other CCGs have historically cost. It's a game, we like it, we want to play more, but it's frustrating to see so much content stuck behind what is essentially randomized DLC on steroids.

$300 is a lot when I usually pay $15-$20 for my games. I'll admit, I don't know what ramifications it would have on the game overall if cards were easier to procure. Imbalanced undertaker aside, I don't think Naxx's rollout was that bad.

Yeah, but as I said, you don't really have to spend a dime on the game, you can just do Arena for a long time and then suddenly one day you can play with the big boys in the "real game". There are plenty of people who have played since beta and done just that. It's not unfair to expect a new players to do the same or pay money to catch up to them, because it is a fundamental nature of CCGs.

As I also said before, they are fucking up not letting you get classic packs in Arena right now because they have essentially closed that path to new players. The card pool in GvG is smaller so you are getting more of the less-than-efficient dust when Arenaing and the GvG cards on their own are not enough to build full decks with.

Well, Let me set your expectations then, This is a card game not a video game. Card games make money by selling randomly sorted "packs" of cards to players so they can collect cards of various powers in order to build decks. Cards of higher power tend to be more rare as an incentive to buy more packs to acquire them.

Just because Hearthstone can be downloaded and played on your computer does not make it any less of a card game. I'm sorry you got duped into thinking this is a video game with a set start and end.

To answer your question about making cards easier to collect. If you could complete a set of Hearthstone easily by spending a little bit of money or say a month or two of grinding free packs you will find a large amount of players would stop playing. The draw of opening packs and getting a shiny legendary or slowly building up that awesome ramp druid deck is what keeps them playing maybe spending some money here and there for a pack fix.

"When everyone is special, No one will be"

Remember, A lot of people have fun playing and don't get angry when they lose to players with cards.

This is the same argument about MMO's honestly why make stuff hard when you can give it to everyone just replace time with money.

We are going in circles, but I just want to be clear, if I could get both packs from Arena, I'd be pretty happy playing at a pace as allowed by my dailies. It takes time, but I'm in no rush to get all the cards to then experience the frustration of randomized card draw when I can get that already in Arena.

I'm just trying to explain the frustration of those who see something cool like control warrior or control priest(those being examples of expensive decks I wanted to try) but can't do it without sinking a lot of money/time.

I somewhat disagree with explaining it away with "well, that's what other CCGs do". Was Naxx particularly damaging to the game? Honest question, I wasn't really participating in the meta(still don't) at the time. Again, undertaker aside.

Undertaker aside yes, It was in my opinion damaging to the game.

The single most played Legendary in the game by a large margin is Loatheb. He is a fantastic card and he appears in almost every single deck because he is good and because he is basically free.

If you made every card a gimme you get for unlocking some paid content it would stagnate the game into these Blizzard crafted decks and any innovation would go down the drain.

Take a look at "living Card Games" released by Fantasy Flight, They are old "dead" card games that they buy the rights to then release in box sets, Each Box you get every single card for one price. After one month every single deck type is perfected and streamlined because when you have access to every card you don't need to make half measures and it's no longer fun to play.
