Finally they're exploring longer early game death timers. I've been saying this shit since alpha that they're too short. I also wish first blood would add 10 seconds to the death timer.

Smart move. Is it really 9 seconds at level 1 though? I can't recall when I've actually had a non Leo death at level 1, but that sounds longer than it actually is.

I actually thought it was shorter! Literally a death at 1 feels like you die and just instantly spawn at the fountain.

Also reading more into the reddit thread the stat flattening basically means you start at ~level8 and scale from there until about 20 you are relatively equal to level 20 on live. So basically levels the 1-20 levels are now spread over 8-20 on the live servers. Which accomplishes their goal of 1-20 stats are so wildly disproportionate. But that will basically mean they have to rebalance a ton of shit. That is a massive (but I feel good) undertaking.

Did they ever say they're giving out rewards? SC2 never gave out portraits or anything for ladder rank not sure if they'll do it with HotS. Guess I don't know if HS does it or not.

Hearthstone gives out rewards based on your rank for their monthly seasons.

Haven't really done much with D3's GR ladder, are there rewards there for the season?

D3's rewards are more achievement based not really tied to the ladder

Not for ranking no, but there is the season journey which has a bunch of varied objectives that reward a pet and portraits. It's fairly similar, but it's more like personnal quest type of thing rather than a competition.

What do other MOBAs do / what would people expect for a season reward in HOTS? Gold? A mount?

Yea I'm not sure what the expectation is for a reward, portrait I guess or maybe gold. I don't see them rolling out skins/tints/mounts as rewards unless the seasons are really long or something (not that it wouldn't be cool but that seems like a lot of resources they could be charging for).

Yeah. A new skin seems like a waste of resources. I was thinking maybe a recolor of an existing mount at best. But giving gold didn't seem like a great deal for the end of a season.

I feel giving out exclusive tints and things a tad BS since what if it is a GM only reward and you really want it but you can't possibly get GM? A reward system more like D3 where it is mostly playing the game is a bit better. Like "Play 25 games as warrior, support, assassin and specialist in Season 01" for the reward.

Man... Morales is crazy good when she hits lvl 20. She can channel her heal infinitely if you position her to keep her trait going (don't get hit for 3+ seconds)

I haven't played her yet but Medic seems somewhat situational. If the team lacks dive I can imagine she's be excellent. If the team has good dive I could see her just getting gibbed every fight.

New try mode seems pretty cool- includes mercs and a target dummy which shows your dps. Also I dig the shit tier warrior love. Interesting to see if they'll get more play now. Tass shield buff seems solid, but the archon nerf is a bummer. I've actually had some decent success with Tass lately, he counters zera/nova nicely especially on rotate heavy maps when you don't have good peels.

I think someone on reddit mathed it out and the archon nerf isn't as bad as the notes suggest. Like he does 86% of his per-nerf damage or something.
