"How do we get everyone back on board after one of the most universally hated series train wrecks?"
"Two words: Internalized. Misogyny."
How many brain cells did they have to sacrifice to come up with that one?

The earliest reveal trailer honestly gave me the impression it had some potential despite all of my skepticism, especially next to Rings of Power, which already outed itself as being trash from the start. Then they pull these kinds of stunts and it's right back in the trash bin next to RoP and WoT as far as I care. I'm not paying for HBO either way, but they're not getting me as one of their day 1 seeding numbers, that's for sure.

Internalized misogyny is one of the most horseshit fucking terms to come out of feminist shit. For all the hoopla about empowerment, they literally made a term to strip the agency away from every woman who doesn’t agree with them. Fucking cunts.
Really well said, and "horseshit fucking term" describes it beautifully.

Now they have to find a way to paint other women as being (in their eyes) objectively wrong instead of simply writing characters in shades of grey.

When you go back to how Game of Thrones, it was more than equitable between so-called power dynamics even before taking its setting's historical inspirations into account, and only towards the latter seasons did things sometimes get silly. HotD is just coming out of the gates going full retard like it's GoT season 12.

also since its another prequel. does that mean "internalized misogyny" won at the end of the day? because GoT only became woke in the last few seasons

I'd rather watch the dragon family sitcom. And I would absolutely watch an anime of that, because Japan knows how to make crazy premises into something amazing.

Yep. Although they're going to hire Sam's actor to shoot a quick retcon:
"There's a giant smudge in the historical archives after a woman thew her wine at one of the Maesters in a moment of stunning bravery when he tried to get fresh."
"Aren't women not allowed in the library?"
"Um... patriarchy. Patriarchy happened. Then they weren't"

The pieces don't fit too cleanly in the end either with their case when the woman they were "Yaas kween!"ing went on a genocidal, psychotic break.

That's the problem with modern fantasy being adapted by people whose entire lives and ideologies are one giant fantasy themselves.

This show is going to be shit. Everyone knows it. Looking forward to 100 pages discussing the nuance of the first season by people so demoralized they fishhook their own mouth for Hollywood to shit in.

Would live it if he ends up being the best character

If that's the extent of the woke, this will be fine.

I was thinking about it and as well as this now black house interbreeding with the pale Targaryens (yes it makes no sense with IRL genetics) the other house they always married into were the Martells who were always kinda Spanish/Arab even in the books.

Then there is the whole Baratheon "seed is strong" hereditary black hair which is a key book 1 plot point. So really there's precedent for Targaryen typically genes being very dominant and overriding the melanin.

Being anti Woke is about being against diversity hires and random nonsensical race changes. Velaryons being black can be easily explained and is even a good way to show that they are migrants like the Targaryens are.

makes about as much sense as having the Targaryans drive Ferraris around Westeros. its complete bullshit and its only done for diversity points.

yes, it sure can be easily explained.

House of the Dragon' showrunners reimagined some characters as Black because they didn't want it to be 'another bunch of white people on the screen'

Sure I hate it, but there is an in universe explaination.

Compare to Rings of Power which is just cultiral vandalism and makes me physically sick.

This one is extra retarded though because they're doing it for diversity when GRRM actually included fuck tons of different "real world" races.

The LOTR one is more bullshit overall though, and doesn't fit with the world.

That actually makes a lot of sense if you view Dragons as the equivalent of Ferraris. The logos are even similar

That isn't the extent of the woke though. The plot is based around challenging the patriarchal order, legitimising female succession and features a non binary eminem lookalike as the main female lead.

They've also gone big on the "look how diverse we are compared to the old show" and "it's a different era now"

Game of Thrones is based on English history, female succession was very much a theme, uniquely so amoungst European nations.

There was Matilda who failed to be monarch but started a civil war to ensure that her son Henry II would be King.

Female succession was the cause of the 100 years war culminating in Henry V's victory ruined by his untimely death and the reason why later female heirs would be accepted in England. This was also the time of Joan of Arc.

Then there were the sisters Mary I and Elizabeth I who had to define what ruling as a female meant and both struggled with that in different ways. Mary married the King of Spain who luckily was repulsed by her and stayed in Spain so power sharing was never an issue, Elizabeth famously never married.

Also if you don't like the idea of the struggles of female heirs, why the fuck did you watch Game of Thrones in the first place?
