The rest of Essos: Am I a joke to you?yes, it sure can be easily explained.
'House of the Dragon' showrunners reimagined some characters as Black because they didn't want it to be 'another bunch of white people on the screen'
Cocreator Ryan Condal says diversity was a priority for the first "Game of Thrones" prequel show, not an "afterthought" or "tokenism."www.insider.com
Have they ever thought about not specifically picking stories entirely based around bunches of white people?
Yeah, neither one is good with both are aiming accommodate people who proudly claim to be too sociopathic to empathize with people who don't share the same melanin level, but Wish.com Rings took the lead early on by corrupting instead of creating. This one is extra retarded though because they're doing it for diversity when GRRM actually included fuck tons of different "real world" races.
The LOTR one is more bullshit overall though, and doesn't fit with the world.
With HotD, their reasoning that Warpath posted are the main problem because (1) racism is racism and (2) having to force a narrative behind a "creative" decision actually stands out as a distraction because of (1).
It's weird because personally I'm up for creative liberties and wouldn't mind the casting if the actors themselves just do the job well considering that this is fantasy and that there at least can be a plausible reason behind diversity even amongst Valerians. However, when they're pretty much paraphrasing Peter Dinklage on a show about "a bunch of white people," then it's hard to overlook even in spite of any slight possiblity that the content of the show could hold up.
RoP just takes it to all new levels of stupid, though, and might as well be the largest budget for a Netflix Anime adaption that outright says, "fuck you" to the fans. In light with what I said above, apparently things that already explicitly existed in Tolkien's works like the Easterlings and Rhun are a joke to them, too. Likewise, nobody forced them to adapt from an author who struck out to essentially create an Anglo Saxon mythology, just as nobody forced Netflix to fund a show about bunches of white people in longboats. It's all just people who claim to care about other cultures who clearly have never been exposed to any other cultures outside of their collective bubble that I'd guarantee is mostly just the most out of touch Hollywood white people on the planet.
